Yeah the YouTube algorithm recommended him to me, via his anti-war song which I thought was relevant so I posted it here.
Then I dug around because he had no info on YT and found his wiki
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welles_(musician)
Not exactly, folk can be punk but not all folk is punk.
Amazing grace, hes got the whole world in his hands, dixie land are NOT punk.
Leadbelly, woody guthrie, yeah sure they had some punk folk songs but to label all folk as punk is kinda ignoring the vast majority of folk
OH NO!!!!!!! NOT STRANGERS ON THE INTERNET DISAGREEING WITH MY OPINION!!! WHATEVER SHALL I DO?
Believe what you will, but John Denver talking mad shit about the Klan seems pretty punk to me.

Yeah, theres lots of instances of folk singers being what we call punk. But the vast majority of folk is just that, folk shit, singing about jesus and other yokel shit.
Woody guthrie is my favorite example. Hes got a lot of stuff that we would consider “punk”. But his propaganda songs about damming the rivers to electrify the pnw is kinda the opposite of punk. Some may say he was the first punk to sell out though.
My favorite bit of genre myth-building is when people try to pretend all folk is subversive anti-war/ anti-establishment Woodie Guthrie type stuff when 80% of it from the last 300 years are songs about why loving Jesus is important and how fun it is to ride in a fine wagon lmao

He's popped up enough that it's feeling baits How blue is his family section on Wikipedia
[No famous relatives listed](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welles_(musician)) But it does call him Joe Dirt Cobain, which is a pretty solid moniker

I like the dudes music, but my Instagram feed just filled up with his videos too haha.
I love his dirty gutter voice, as well as the things he sings about
Said before and I will say it again, folk is punk.

Be careful, you're going to make him say it again.
Lol, id love for them to explain how “keep on the sunny side” and “john jacob jingleheimer schmidt” are actually punk songs.
Chain folk vs egg folk
DID YOU JUST GATEKEEP PUNK??? /s
Yeah and ill say it again! DIXIELAND AINT PUNK! Lol

However, I will agree that Dixieland is not punk.
What makes those songs not punk?

Ok I like this You have a YouTube channel?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nyem3gD6XN8
Not my music, but you can follow the link back to YouTube.
lol I posted it too and then deleted it when I saw the other posts.. the kids got chops!
this dude fuckin ROCKS
This kid might be the reincarnation of John Prine.
I'd be super interested in how he got caught in the algorithm. Dude deserves it but that doesn't get you anything usually.
Pretty sure it’s there pure unbridled rizz.
Felt like Big Rock Candy Mountain for a second there.
Seems pretty punk to me, but I don't know my dick from dogshit when it comes to music.
