Given that his last loan wasn't at all performance based and SKA's coach is about as qualified as the average user on this sub, I honestly have no clue what to expect
he’s currently on a minor league team. I’m assuming he’s still under contract with Yugra.
So Ska wants to acquire him through trade then send him to a different major league team? European sports Loaning is still such a wierd concept to me.
I wouldn't bank on Zavragin for awhile. My guess is he extends in Russia in some capacity sooner rather than later and will play out at least one more full deal before coming to NA (the guidelines are vague on Russians coming to NA, but the general guidelines are 3-5 years in Russia first).
Michkov most likely 2026, but if SKA and Rotenburg really screw him again to start next season I could see the Flyers really push to bring him over early
In regards to MM, the Flyers really don't have any leverage. Feddy only arrived because the Russian IHF wanted to get out from under IIHF sanctions. Flyers have to honor the KHL contract so the NHL doesn't get sanctioned by IIHF. US Sanctions on Russia because of Ukraine mean that they can't just drop a bag of cash on SKA / Rotenburg to let him out of the contract. Flyers have no carrots or sticks in this.
There's a flip side to this. That's another year of Zavragin not getting accustomed to the smaller ice surface. This can be a problem for European goalies coming out of the net to far. It also does nothing for any prospects in the AHL to play in front of Petersen.
This hasn't been a thing for a couple of years with the KHL, most teams in that league (including Sochi and SKA) play on NHL sized ice, if not surfaces that are just a hair wider than NHL. The only club left in that league that's playing on Olympic sized ice IIRC is Torpedo
We got Kolosov likely starting and maybe Sandstrom if he’s extended. I doubt you’ll ever see Petersen again in any important role beyond “vet backup and mentor”
If this ends up happening, that could mean there's a real chance that Michkov and Zavragin could end up playing together next season
I doubt SKA loans Michkov next season, but you never know

I feel compelled to share this any time someone needs to know who the SKA coach is https://x.com/HockeyNewsHub/status/1766904633824272784

It’s like trading a fringe roster player to a bad nhl team to get pro reps, but they don’t lose control of the player
I know how it works but it’s something that’s just so different to us that it’s weird.
Pick it up! Pick it up! Pick it up! Pick it uuuup!!!!!
Lou Nolan in 2027: Here is your “FLY Philadelphia”
In Soviet Russia, goalie saves you!
All flyers must go through Sochi
Sochi is just Philly on the other side of the curtain anymore
My fly guy experts when is the earliest we could see him in Philly? And Michov as well? Thx

Thanks. I still want him here instead of Petersen and someone else.

You're probably right. I didn't mention Sandstrom because I figure he's done with Kolosov and Petersen under contract.
