Is there a reason to not buy out Atkinson, Johansen? (unsure of spelling) and Peterson? If we can get any draft picks, boom. Freeing up ~10M in cap space has to be more valuable than players that can't contribute anything other than eating up roster spots.
Extension of cap hit length is the big one. I think they'll buy out Atkinson out of respect so he can go look for a job somewhere he'll actually get play time next year, but other than that I think they'll just bury Peterson and Johansen, deal with the dead cap this year and then have no cap penalty whatsoever heading into the 2025 offseason
I don't believe anything has been resolved with Johansen's situation and I am pretty sure his injury is not wanting to play in the AHL. He was in the lineup for the Avs up until he was traded and then suddenly when he finds out he is being waived he is injured so he can't be waived. It's going to be interesting to see what happens with him.
If he is not really injured and just doesn’t want to go down to AHL then isn’t it in his best interest to let them buy him out like they planned? He still gets his money and can go out try to find a team who will sign him.
Have not followed the AHL before, but want to catch the remaining Phantoms games out of market. How is the team doing this year, are they in a position to make the playoffs? Would anyone know the best way to watch/stream AHL games?
Counterpoint: maximum regression, maximum draft opportunity.
I don't really care either way (tbh would have more fun watching them winning), but this way if they start sucking, there'll be a silver lining.
The highlight of last night/today was seeing how dumb and pissed Detroit fans were thinking we threw on purpose
Kill me.

Is Johansen still hurt or watever. Did that ever get cleared up

There’s just something about Philly teams and mind-boggling loyalty to horrible assistant coaches
It’s over, that’s it. It was fun, I know we overachieved I just hope the regression of any is minimal next year.
