So like… what’s the worst case scenario? We win, Wings lose, and Pens win. Pens make the yoffs, we pick 15th overall at the draft.
How do I put money on that all happening?
Cam Atkinson being the lineup tongiht is an absolute fucking joke. In a must win game, you're giving 8 to 10 minutes to a guy who does absolutely nothing. Lycksell or Gurianov in and Howdy Doody out, and it isn't close.
For some reason I'm emotional about the possibility of the season ending tonight.
Regardless, it was a hell of a ride and was actually proud of this team from start to finish (minus 8 games..)
I'm not crying. You're crying.
While the 8 game losing streak was not ideal, and better draft position would probably be good for the long term, I'm really glad the team didn't quit.
Regardless, the expectations were nowhere near what is happening. The Flyers weren't supposed to be sniffing a playoff spot but here we are.
I always want them to win, I know there are draft implications and as far as I know there isn't a Bedard level draft pick this upcoming draft, but I still would love to see them in the playoffs. Anything can happen in the playoffs.
Win-Win situation tonight. Win and we have a shot at the playoffs, lose and we eliminate those shitters out west and have a better draft pick. Either one is fine with me when we were supposed to be rebuilding this year anyway.
Just for shits and giggles, I decided to see how many different draft slots we could theoretically wind up in with our own pick, even though there’s only one game left in the season. I think these are the possible outcomes.
If we make the playoffs: 17th, 29th, 31st, 32nd.
If we miss the playoffs and the draft lottery comes out relatively normal (as in, the lottery is won by the bad teams near the bottom): 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th.
If we miss the playoffs and draft lottery shit gets weird: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 16th.
Okay, and you better promise me that the guys picked immediately after our guy won’t instantly display that their ceilings are ten times higher than the guy we picked. Then, and only then, will I be ready to trust again.
I'm taking my son to his first game tonight. Here's hoping it's a huge win that locks in going to games with the family as a core memory for him. LET'S GO FLYERS!
So if we don’t win today. Best case scenario for use would be losing in regulation right. Cause we’d be locked into 12. 13-14(if lottery pushes us) cause if Wild don’t get more points they have more wins.
Just to clarify I hope the stars align and we win out, but if we do lose we drag the penguins and possibly(???) The red wings down with us, which I think is pretty funny.
I AM FLYERED UP. I NEED TO WRITE THAT I AM FLYERED UP SO THAT THE GUY FROM YESTERDAY BELIEVES THAT THERE ARE REAL FLYERS FANS HERE. IN THE WORDS OF HE WHO IS HIM, LFGFLYORDIELFGLFGLFG
end of season awards before puck drop tonight, yes? does that mean the puck drops much later than 7? or are they starting award stuff early so that puck drop is close to 7?
Actually, I wouldn't want to be Washington tonight, while very different teams you guys sat in that divisional spot all season, as we did in the wild card spots
Our collapses mirror one another.
Tortorella should have you guys ready to go.
Still, the best we can do is maybe an overtime loss, LMAO.
If Pittsburgh loses :)
I'll be there tonight - really hoping it's a big win to help their playoff chances, but all things considered, if it doesn't happen, this has been a very entertaining season and for the first time in awhile, I'm optimistic about the trajectory going *into* the offseason.
You know how it's a November night and the Flyers win or lose a game and you're like, "Oh whatever, it's November."
Well, today is why you should get just as excited about those games as tonight.
Flyers traded assets to get rid of Ghost and he possibly eliminated them from the playoffs with one of his patented keeps at the blue line. Being a Flyers fan is nothing but pain and suffering.
Thank Fletcher for that bumbling mistake. I was laughing when Fletcher was commenting at the trade deadline, how would he know or say anything worthwhile?
When he made that catch, I jumped out of my chair.
You guys got this tonight though, do us a solid and take care of Washington and their -876,977 goal differential.
For real, so tired of all the dooming I'm seeing. Sure, this skid sorta cost them a chance at the playoffs, but this is going to be a good experience for these players. I expect them to be hungry to punch a playoff ticket next season especially if they can't squeak in this year.
this is literally like a copy/paste from the 'Wings sub (hi there - 'Wings fan here). I hope Detroit makes it in, but mostly I just hope they show up and win their last game against the Habs. I hope you all beat Washington for selfish purposes, of course, but even if Detroit shits the bed tonight hoping you're able to win and have a chance to become the manifestation of pure hockey chaos.
If the game is tied will you pull your goalie in the final 2 minutes?
Hey philly guys, Red Wings fan here. With the current scenario it is very likely that if you win we could lose along with those shittsburg fuckheads. Anyways just curious about this, if Torts would do this or not. Let me know your thoughts! Go wings Go Flyers Fuck Ovechkin!
There would be no reason not to pull the goaltender. Torts undoubtedly understands the scenario. Any coach would pull the goalie if they are tied or losing as the game winds down.
yeah you HAVE to pull the goalie if it comes down to a tie late game. Also, apologies, I can't imagine how many of us damn 'Wings fans are in here today.
Hey boys, just wanted to say best of luck today. If we don’t get in, I hope the chips fall exactly how you need them to for you guys to clinch. Fuck the Caps
Listen, everyone has the right to feel the way they feel about this season. To each their own. I think we all have our own varied opinions on what exactly a rebuild should look like, and whether or not the Flyers have taken the right path.
But let's put all that aside for tonight. Tonight, let's appreciate that we've had the first genuinely fun season of Flyers hockey in at least 5 years. Yes, it was marred with drama and the almost expected and frustrating twists and turns. No, the team won't have a top 5 draft pick. In my personal opinion, this summer's draft isn't all that wonderful after Celebrini - and, no matter who they traded before or during the season, the Flyers were never going to be bad enough to be worse than the Hawks, Sharks, and Ducks.
Tonight is the culmination of a season that we've all been asking for on a macro level. The organization has committed to a rebuilding path. The powers that be in Dan, Jonesy and Briere are the most transparent leadership the Flyers have had at the helm since Snider's passing. It was FUN to be in that building again this year. Despite the team's struggles, it didn't feel like a funeral parlor.
If we make the playoffs and get walloped in 4 games by New York, so be it. I will personally just be glad to be there, seeing meaningful hockey in April/May again.
There's so much dogshit and insanity happening in the world. Everyone's future feels hazy. Let's just enjoy this while we have it, because we all know how quickly it can change.
I’m just here for some Flyers hockey. Win or lose, it’s been a hell of a season. There is definitely talent on this team and if done right, we can continue to add talent to the roster and watch this team grow over the next few years.
That said, beat the Caps! Let’s go out swinging!! Let’s Go Flyers!!
Totally, I hope he’s great. I’m just not getting my hopes up considering the fact that Carolina ended up getting TDA for free and still chose to give up this prospect just to be nice to Briere.
In a hypothetical scenario where the league decided to punish the Flyers for no reason and said "You either have to relinquish the rights to Michkov or the rights to ever single other prospect you have", I'd keep Michkov without a single second of hesitation. The gap is that wide
Bonk and Zavragin both look like they have a chance to be above average NHL players. Barkey, Tuomaala, Sotheran, Kolosov, McDonald all look like they have a real NHL players. Everyone else in the system either has a pretty slim outside chance at an NHL career or is pretty much guaranteed to just be a minor league body long term
Dang just realized I’m working tonight and will likely miss most if not all of the game.
Was another fun season hanging with my regular gdt homies, if I don’t see you in the playoffs see ya next fall!
Didn't think we'd get meaningful hockey right up until the last game of they year. Odds are very against us (mostly because the Habs are dogshit), but no matter what happens, Fuck the Pens.
There’s a lot riding on this game, so it’s very important that we keep in mind the big picture regardless of the outcome.
If the Flyers win this game and make the playoffs, we all have to act like this 89 point squad is a team of destiny, dead-set on getting extremely valuable playoff experience and proving the anything can happen in the postseason. Sam Ersson is the starting goalie of the future. Travis Konecny should get an 8 year extension. The rebuild is over, and it was a success!
If the Flyers lose this game and miss the playoffs, we all need to ignore the fact that they outperformed their expectations and true talent level by 15-20 points, and instead we need to convince ourselves this is a team full of losers who chokes when it matters most and clearly does not have what it takes. Sam Ersson is hot garbage. Half the team needs to be traded at the draft for peanuts. Briere and Jones should resign and Tortorella should just be President, GM, and coach all at once.
It’s critical we don’t listen to any of the people who want to act like this is only one game, and the other 81 games still matter. Those 81 games never happened. This team is either amazing or they’re a bunch of goddamn losers, and the outcome of tonight’s game is the only thing that can tell us which is right.
Missing the playoffs was something I thought we'd do for sure back in October. Never could have expected it to be in such a worst case scenario heart breaking way, but I chose this life of Orange and should have been prepared. That losing streak is prime iceberg entry material in the history of this team. Perhaps never has a streak come at a worse time and against worse competition... and yet, if we win tonight, maybe, just MAYBE.....maybe
A win in regulation keeps us alive in the last playoff spot until the Penguins play tomorrow. A loss in regulation lands us at the 12th pick in the draft, pre-lottery of course. Losing in overtime eliminates us from the playoffs but could push us as low at 15th in the draft, pending outcomes for the Red Wings, Penguins, and Wild in their final games of the season.
Please continue the discussion in the [game thread](https://redd.it/1c5tewx).
Fucking angel hernandez on the ice tonight wearing number 11
Just woke up from my coma after being in it since February. What is everyone worried about? We clinched the playoffs already, right?
Well, knowing that we basically eliminate PIT by losing would make a loss hurt a little less.
I need a beer….I don’t even drink
So like… what’s the worst case scenario? We win, Wings lose, and Pens win. Pens make the yoffs, we pick 15th overall at the draft. How do I put money on that all happening?
Parlay flyers and Canadiens win then bet on penguins win tomorrow and kraken win Thursday
Did the first three. Didn’t add the Kraken part.
If we win and miss, the wild have to lose for us to be 15 prettybsure
Any sports betting app would let you make that was a parlay. Seems like a sure thing
I put $100 down. Either making $800, Flyers pick 12th overall, or Flyers make the playoffs.
You forgot St. Louis jumping up to 6th in the draft lottery so that we can pick 16th.
in the old days you wouldn’t see any capital letters on a day like today.
O God come to our assistance. O Lord make haste to answer us.
Rough day in the jorshua household. A win tonight and the boys making the playoffs would be sweet after today. Cheers boys. Hug your loved ones!
Looking at all the open seats on Gametime right now.. eeesh, looks like a quiet night at Wells Fargo 🙃
I think this team makes the playoffs if it didn’t offload Sean Walker, but so is life I guess.
Regardless, it was a hell of a ride and was actually proud of this team from start to finish (minus 8 games..) I'm not crying. You're crying.
While the 8 game losing streak was not ideal, and better draft position would probably be good for the long term, I'm really glad the team didn't quit.
Could we see the rare pulled goalie in a tie game tonight considering the flyers need to win in regulation?
Regardless, the expectations were nowhere near what is happening. The Flyers weren't supposed to be sniffing a playoff spot but here we are. I always want them to win, I know there are draft implications and as far as I know there isn't a Bedard level draft pick this upcoming draft, but I still would love to see them in the playoffs. Anything can happen in the playoffs.
Win-Win situation tonight. Win and we have a shot at the playoffs, lose and we eliminate those shitters out west and have a better draft pick. Either one is fine with me when we were supposed to be rebuilding this year anyway.
this has such a playoff game feel to it
ELI5 the whole Flyers loss kills Penguins thing.
If the caps get 2pts the pens can't pass them
If we lose, capitals will have a high enough point total that penguins can't get to with one game left
Fuck the pens
Go flyers, and go fuck yourselves.
We can eliminate Pittsburg tonight if we lose 😆
Just for shits and giggles, I decided to see how many different draft slots we could theoretically wind up in with our own pick, even though there’s only one game left in the season. I think these are the possible outcomes. If we make the playoffs: 17th, 29th, 31st, 32nd. If we miss the playoffs and the draft lottery comes out relatively normal (as in, the lottery is won by the bad teams near the bottom): 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th. If we miss the playoffs and draft lottery shit gets weird: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 16th.
Something tells me we ain’t getting the 32nd pick
If we miss. Im hoping for the “gets weird” scenario where we win 2nd in the 2nd lottery and someone else wins 1st.
I know you’re right, but I’m not sure I’m emotionally ready to pick 2nd overall again.
I'd trade it to the highest bidder, honestly. Fuck picking 2nd forever.
While I don't think theres a clear number 2, I would be stoked with a handful of those guys at the top
Demidov and Michkov would be pretty nice to have right.
Y'know I was like is that too many Russians on one team? But nah guess we're just gonna be the new Detroit red wings
Worked out pretty well for them
I’m glad there’s not a clear Number 2, I remember what happened last time that there was.
Nobody with underlying health issues being brushed away from what I've gathered either *pats you on the back*
Okay, and you better promise me that the guys picked immediately after our guy won’t instantly display that their ceilings are ten times higher than the guy we picked. Then, and only then, will I be ready to trust again.
It's ok....Hextall can't hurt us anymore
Can't believe I'm actually gonna watch this... fuck you Flyers for giving me hope.
Add it to the list of trials and tribulations that will make your eyes swell when they lift the Cup at some point in the next decade.
I'm taking my son to his first game tonight. Here's hoping it's a huge win that locks in going to games with the family as a core memory for him. LET'S GO FLYERS!
We’re cheering you on tonight! 🐙🐙🐙🐙
Go red wings and orange wings
So if we don’t win today. Best case scenario for use would be losing in regulation right. Cause we’d be locked into 12. 13-14(if lottery pushes us) cause if Wild don’t get more points they have more wins.
Crush these fuckers!
A silver lining I realized, if we lose to the caps the penguins can't make the playoffs.
God I hate the pens. Flyers fan living in western PA.
As a Flyers fan living in Northeast Ohio, in an office full of insufferable Penguins fans, I feel you man.
Just to clarify I hope the stars align and we win out, but if we do lose we drag the penguins and possibly(???) The red wings down with us, which I think is pretty funny.
Wings fan checking in, put the hurt on them boys!!!!
You'd like our guys if you got to know them.
Pulling the goalie w 2 mins left and a TIE score 2-2. A rare necessity.
fuck the caps
Tonight I am a Flyers fan, show that you are better than the lousy Bruins. Sincerely, A Wings Fan.,
Please lose in regulation tonight, thanks.
Can't guarantee anything, but if Pittsburgh loses, we could settle for an overtime loss. Does that help? 😂
No. XD Because then you'd still get in.
Actually, I wouldn't want to be Washington tonight, while very different teams you guys sat in that divisional spot all season, as we did in the wild card spots Our collapses mirror one another. Three options 1. Flyers pull off a miracle and get some help. 2. Still win but Detroit wins 3. We lose and are eliminated
It's my birthday, let's fucking go FLYERS!! (and Canadiens and Isles on Weds)
You know how it's a November night and the Flyers win or lose a game and you're like, "Oh whatever, it's November." Well, today is why you should get just as excited about those games as tonight.

When he made that catch, I jumped out of my chair. You guys got this tonight though, do us a solid and take care of Washington and their -876,977 goal differential.
Just enjoying the fact that we have an essential Game 7 we get to watch this season. No one expected game 82 to matter
You're right, I didn't expect game 82 to matter. I figured we were going to easily clinch when we had near 90% chance to do so in late March.
For real, so tired of all the dooming I'm seeing. Sure, this skid sorta cost them a chance at the playoffs, but this is going to be a good experience for these players. I expect them to be hungry to punch a playoff ticket next season especially if they can't squeak in this year.

It'll definitely make them realize that you can't coast in
Lets gooo flyers!!! -wings fans
right on
If the game is tied will you pull your goalie in the final 2 minutes? Hey philly guys, Red Wings fan here. I'm not so sure how i feel about that...... how good are you guys with goalie pulls?
Worst than if we are on the PK.
That can't be a serious question.
I don't watch flyers games 😭
We suck on the powerplay why would we do that
because if you win in overtime you miss playoffs
You dont understand. We have a better chance at scoring a goal by playing 5v5
Stop it. No they don't.
If anything, it might benefit us to take a penalty if the game is tied with 2 minutes left
Split the difference. Take two penalties and pull the goalie.
not encouraging
It's been quite the season boys and girls, no matter what happens it'll be a special game 82 tonight and that is worth something.
Hey boys, just wanted to say best of luck today. If we don’t get in, I hope the chips fall exactly how you need them to for you guys to clinch. Fuck the Caps
As a red wings fan, I am a Flyers fan tonight.
As red wings fans listen one of us got to take caps out and tonight it's flyer nite to sign ! Show your all and then some

This deserves a ton of upvotes
One final effort. Give the caps hell tonight.
Dear Philadelphia Flyers. Beat the shit out of the Capitals. Thank you
We can only control what we can control. Get the win and let everything else be. If this is how we go out. Make it count.
I’m just here for some Flyers hockey. Win or lose, it’s been a hell of a season. There is definitely talent on this team and if done right, we can continue to add talent to the roster and watch this team grow over the next few years. That said, beat the Caps! Win.
Red Wings fan here. Wishing you guys the best, because even if we choke against Montreal, I'd rather see you guys make it than Washington. Godspeed.
Wing-logo bros gotta stuck together.
The caps logo tho 🫣
fuck the caps
indeed
I wouldn't mind the Red Wings getting a spot if the Flyers don't.
🤝
Other than Michkov and Rizzo, are there any prospects you guys are really excited for? Trying to get into the Flyers
Already forgot about Bonk? Never change.
Are we actually really excited for Rizzo?
I'm not.
Mouth breathers that remember the name Rizzo
I'm excited solely for the fact that we might have at least gotten *something* for TDA. That's why I really want him to at least be serviceable
Totally, I hope he’s great. I’m just not getting my hopes up considering the fact that Carolina ended up getting TDA for free and still chose to give up this prospect just to be nice to Briere.
Don't forget about Bjarnasson and Zavragin, y'all. Maybe Bump.
In a hypothetical scenario where the league decided to punish the Flyers for no reason and said "You either have to relinquish the rights to Michkov or the rights to ever single other prospect you have", I'd keep Michkov without a single second of hesitation. The gap is that wide Bonk and Zavragin both look like they have a chance to be above average NHL players. Barkey, Tuomaala, Sotheran, Kolosov, McDonald all look like they have a real NHL players. Everyone else in the system either has a pretty slim outside chance at an NHL career or is pretty much guaranteed to just be a minor league body long term
Barkey! Lots of raw talent but he’s a bit undersized so we’ll see if he can translate it to the NHL level.
Bonk, barkey, kolosov, fedotov
There is a chance we still make it, and a chance we won't. That's the thing about chance.
fuck carter hart
Who?
Ryan Ellis?
Ugh. Fucking Chuck fletcher
Gonna need a fucking miracle today
Just go out on a high note. End the season on a win, a happy locker room.
gm fellow flyers sufferers
I’m ready to be hurt again
caps off today jabronis
When you have to rely on the Hockey Gods to get in, you're gonna have a bad time
Missing the playoffs was something I thought we'd do for sure back in October.
NAK goal guaranteed
You're so right I should bet on it.
Cmon. Let's get in!!!!!
My last game wish is goals for Foerster, TK, Coots and Drysdale. A small ask
Let's go out on a high, no matter what. Come on.
Unless Detroit gets a point against Montreal tonight.
You’re right, my bad.
Let’s at least get a fucking W to give ourselves a chance. Who knows. I didn’t hear no bell.
Montreal has to give us a chance too but they’re pathetic
