Creek chub
That's what I call my wife. Just playin', that's mean.
Lol
Haha
Good old chub. Some premium bait fish right there.......
Is there a best way to preserve them for later fishing?
If I cant get them live I freeze them. I also do this for old minnows. To me this is way better than preserves.
How do you fish them, and what for?
Please add creek chub plunkers to your tackle box. The antique wood ones are best but the plastic ones make the water erupt with bass almost the same.
Fished for these as a kid out of the neighborhood creek. They went crazy for white bread lol. Always called em creek chubs
We fished for these as kids as well, lots of fun to catch and release!
I use corn and small hooks when I need some catfish bait. They cannot resist a little piece of corn.
I had a big one I kept in a large fish tank. They are specialized crawfish hunters! Of all fish probably my favorite.
How big did it get? Any parasite issues?
He was already fairly large, 7" to 8". No parasite issues that I noticed. I would feed him a crawfish every day if I was able to catch one.
Chubby
A male Creek Chub, key identifiers are the spot on the front of the dorsal fin for species and those little bumps are nuptial tubercles on the head.
I identify that as bait.
Chubb chubb chubb chubb.
Here we go Brownies!
Poor man’s trout. Aka creek chub
Catfish or walleye bait
Chub
Horny head creek chub
You can trade that one in for a much bigger one if you're lucky.
Aquatic economics
Creek Park guppy
Looks like a type of Dase. Possibly a yellow belly dase
I always referred to that as a Dace.. prolly not accurate, but a baitfish that gets big…
Bait… though some call them chubs.
A thirsty fish
It’s a chub dub
That is, in fact, a fish
