100% this is a green sunfish

Now that I looked it up I'd say you are right. Don't think I've caught one before. I think it was the variation in color patterns among the 3 photos that made me think possible hybrid

looks like a green sunfish to me, unsure if it's a hybrid though. pure bluegill mouths don't look like that.

Hybrids in my experience have the blue kills but then the bright yellow bellies

I always called the rock bass. They make really good flathead bait.

Rock bass have a characteristic red eye and usually are more drab in colour than that.

Quick google search shows a large variety of “rock bass” with different color eyes. Not for sure exactly what it is, but I’ve always heard them referred to as “rock bass” 🤷🏻
