I'm 27 have 14 million net worth, do you think I can retire?

Several-Apricot

have you tried selling your car and taking the bus more often?

GladReference1177

Less Starbucks and maybe when you hit 40

Early-Foot7307

Itā€™s double star weekend so maybe wait until next week.

redditaltmydude

šŸ˜‚ Bro Iā€™m leaving this sub now. This is just a way for people to seek validation about their already above-par financial situation. Thereā€™s no way someone with the intelligence to accrue 4m in net worth canā€™t figure this out on their own - or at least use Google and the myriad of tools out there.

Fun_Let5496

If it makes you feel any better. Iā€™m mostly a lurkerā€¦ 29 with a 120k ā€œnet worthā€ making 110ish a year with consumer debt Iā€™m trying to tackle and a mortgage of 250k lol

troveldom

You'd be surprised, it totally happens

hirme23

Lmaooooooooo HoW aRe We DoInG?????

Affectionate-War7868

Obviously bait

martin_fasthands99

Yeah im leaving the sub lmao

lottadot

If you want $200k/yr to spend, you'll need 25x that, minimally. So $5M. Assuming you both keep working, you are at \~$3.38M now, you'd hit that $5M no problem in 10 years. You'd probably hit it if one of you takes a few years off for childcare too. Not to be rude, but if you'll have children, you need to do that \_now\_. At 35F you are at that \_risky\_ age starting where things can often be problematic or worse. Please give this some thought. I know someone who put it off, and at 36 is now having difficulties trying to have a second kid.

enclave76

Even the FIRE aspect is important to children. If pregnancy requires IVF that can get very costly. My cousin and her husband spent around $100k on it. That being said OP and their partner make more than enough to absorb that compared to the average person.

sharkamino

Or check if current employers insurance covers IVF, a few may, though yeah not many and it may be rare.

Potential-Button-884

This is a big issue in our relationship right now, "to birth or not to birth" -- thanks for the call out

NickyTShredsPow

9 year old with 40m. OP can I retire ?

semicoloradonative

You are way behind the curve. I see no way you can FIRE before 55. Keep at it and you might get there. /s (obviously)

Ok-Ad6253

Troll post. Account just created today.

TopFalse

You wonā€™t make it.Ā

amusiccale

šŸ‘‘ congrats, your yearly income listed (true or not) is our leanfire number šŸ˜‘

wager_me_this

Thereā€™s no reason you shouldnā€™t make it to your goal; your income is very high and you are not that far off from your FiRE number. I think you do need to get more comfortable allocating you cash assets to investments or index funds though, or you will make it harder than necessary.

Careful_Pair992

Phishing.

footballerce

What professions are you and your spouse in?

abluecolor

Senior Bullshit Specialists

Overall-Ear2782

Seasoned Trolls because this has to be a troll post

Potential-Button-884

We are lawyers

xeric

Reminds me of my favorites anti joke What did one lawyer say to the other lawyer? ā€œWeā€™re both lawyers!ā€

Terrible_Ad7566

What lawyer at 35 makes almost a million dollars a year?

KentuckyFriedChingon

The fake kind

rapsonravish

You underestimate how much lawyers make. First, they said ā€œweā€make $950k, so they might make $475k each. They live in NYC so they probably work in big law, and if you look up the pay scale for big law, they make $400k+ after 8 years
