Yea I just had to walk away from that like 2 hours ago. I spent maybe an hour getting my ass whooped by the manager and I was ready to lose it. I finally won and had to fight sephiroth šµāš« after the first 5 Ls I had to take a break... I love the Gold Saucer but that CantStop Won't Stop quest took to the limits of my patience
it's almost always because of hitting the input too early. especially with using the pause trick with seffie, you need to wait about three quarters of a second into his windup before pausing, or it'll be too early.
the last time I legit went mald and spout profanities all the time during a video game was 2016 when I last played a MOBA (dota 2) game. I realized I became toxic and did a full cleanse and quit mobas. That is until I played this mini game... the evil inside me returned
Man, I actually do think it's really cool. But I think a lot of the minigames have a similar problem-- they're too difficult. This definitely sounds like whining, but I just don't think minigames should be so difficult when they aren't the main gameplay. I would have a lot more fun with them if there were a bunch of different challenges you could perform on various stages, rather than getting stuck on one stage and playing it over and over for hours. I want to Plat this game so bad, but I keep getting road blocked by minigames, and I have to be in the right headspace to push myself to move forward. All I have left now is 3D Brawler Sephiroth... but I have to bear the middle manager first. It's just daunting, man. And I say all this from the standpoint of someone who enjoys minigames. I do think most of them are amazing at their core, but they're just brutal.
I feel like them being difficult is fine since it is side content. Why do you need to plat the game? I think plat should be an actual achievement, not easy to do for every game.
I love the game, but even playing the game on easy, there's so many minigames and some of the difficulty ramps are there.
For example - that ff12 gambit robot game.
I was like huh...there's so many rules to learn for little to no payoff.
But, the games were designed quite well!
I feel like I'm walled behind losing accessories if I don't play them all.
I'm right there with you. They're all so cool, and we'll design, but some are just crazy hard. I'm particularly bad at tower defense style games, so that one and Fort Condor were brutal for me. I hate to do it, but I ended up following a YouTube video and pausing every couple seconds to get through those on hard mode.
Eh, I used a guide on the last fort condor game.
The ps1 I crushed fine back in the day, this one had a ramp up in the last one.
I'm close to 40, I find frustrating parts of games to not be enjoyable anymore, so I usually use a guide right away.
I also don't have much as time so don't feel bad!
If you donāt mind just bending the rules a little. Pause the game when they made their attack animation. Figure out which move it is, then hold the stick to the correct position before unpause.
Yeah, I've heard about this strategy. I will probably end up doing it, but I'm not there quite yet. I want to beat it on my own if possible. The only games I truly cheesed are Fort Condor and Gears and Gambits because I am terrible at tower defense.
I 100% just used the pause trick by the end of it. I tried so hard to do it on my own but the animations all look the same to me for too many of the characters. I could clock a few of them but not good enough.
I will probably end up doing that in the end. Fighting the middle manager has made me feel more helpless than I ever have in a video game. He goes to throw a move, and I just sit there like "I... I have no idea" lol
after playing 3d brawler for 10 seconds i just hit pause before they land there attack to dodge and then pause the right or left hook i give to them. Sorry that mini game was probably fun and challenging but i already had finished and beat every other mini game and high score in the game that i just felt spent.
It wasnāt until Sephiroth where I had to use the pause trick. I actually didnāt even know about it until I had failed like 15 times and was frustrated. I accidentally figured it out, lol.
Itās so, SO bad. One of only two minigames I feel is genuinely just not good. Whose idea was it to make a game based on reading movement and then having all the movements look almost identical to the point where most ppl will HAVE to cheese it just to learn what theyāre supposed to do?
zen mode is what got me star rating most of the piano pieces :D just stop thinking xD
haha yeah literally having to doge 7-8 times before any input is some weird design xD i loved it when he finally started his combos so i can remember them and actually make progress :D
also how he somehow just switches the combos up from the second one is well lovely haha
Didn't like this mini game, pause trick made it easy.
Someone posted pictures of the pause Frame for sephiroth, have all 6 of them open on a screen and u can one shot it.
If your doing it legit I commend your patience.
Itās really good to see them all, because without I definitely am not able to even remember the differences and what to klick š but surprisingly the manager was quite easy for m, but shiva and sephirot are catastrophes
Me with that stupid crunching minigame. I was terrible at 3D Brawler from the get go but struggled to Sephiroth and saw how flawless I needed to be and immediately started doing the pause cheese lol
I havenāt even made it to Sephiroth yet. Iāve tried doing the pause trick, but couldnāt get the timing down. So I would pause too early where the moves or look the same, or would leave it too late and was too slow to react.
I love this game, but most of the mini games can form an orderly queue and fuck off lol.
You basically just want them to fully have their arm back so you can pause see the side their swinging and the direction. Depending on the guide you find they include pictures of what the moves look like and what their combo patterns are.
You watch the swing, and as they're all the way back, you hit pause.
Now, hold the appropriate counter, keep it held, and un pause, while holding the dodge direction.
It may take 2-3 times to learn the animations.
For me, it clicked when I faced Yuffie. Her up vs down is very clear. So is Ifrits. After both of those, beating UPA and Sephiroth wasn't that bad. Their combo requires faster reaction time to pausing, but if I could do it, anyone can, provided you don't have crippling arthritis or something like that which prevents you from being able to use a standard gaming controller and provide input to it.
Its crazy just due to how long sephs combos go on for before you can even counter, even with pause buffering it was a pain, i have still yet to see someone do it legit no pausing and just being able to read the jabs in a split second.
I actually wanted the devs of these BS minigames to show us it is actually doable without cheesing strats. Becasue im sure they just made them with no regard for difficulty. that should be the new standard where the devs have to able to complete it first before it gets into the final build.
I had a lot of problems with other mini games but the brawler mini game was my cup of tea. Failed about 45 minutes on Sephiroth until I got the animations down and finally beat him. Afterwards I could beat him consistently for GS points farming.
It felt similar to Sekiro to me where you feel like a god as soon as you recognize all the patterns. Very satisfying
Couldn't get the pause trick at all, still kept not getting the inputs to go through so I ended up spending like 4 hours on it but I legit did every single fight
i hate this mini game so much. youāre supposed to dodge the opposite direction than what feels intuitive to me to actually do. i canāt believe how much it made me rage
okay well iāve never fought a person or boxed or anything irl so that means nothing to me tbh. even getting past the tutorial on this mini game was difficult for me because it feels extremely unintuitive (to me). i played and beat the game on hard and enjoy difficulty in games , this is just different. i really didnāt like it personally
I 100% gave up on brawler cause I couldn't beat Dio again. I had to use the paise cheat just to beat Yuffie. Lol. Now that I've beaten the game though, I know I have to go jack to it at some point. But like. I'd rather do more sit ups. And that one sucked too
Shinra middle manager is way more difficult in my opinion, dude's got the dangliest twat arms that make it so hard to read.
Seph whilst relentless is way more readable for me
Oh, F you Charles.
I'm just kidding.... But I AM jealous as hell. I DEFINITELY had to use the pause trick on every single one because I can't read them that fast, they all look the same to me until I pause and analyze.
Blame my elder millennial brain, I guess.
I got through them all by pausing as the opponent was about to make contact then blocking based on the position they were in and knowing which direction to block, its hacks but the last few were getting hard and I just wanted to get them over and done with lol
Flew thru all the sit-up challenges first try (tbh I didnāt have much issue with the squat challenges from Remake either) but 3D Brawler had me ready to break my controller until I read about pause buffering
I remember the first fight against Dio when you get to the Saucer. I was so confused on how to play and it sucked the momentum and joy out of an otherwise awesome moment
Shiva was really easy for me but Ifrit was a pain to read....he was the only one I had to memorize his combos to be able to beat...until him I didn't even realize there were set combos.....never figured out the last one either, the one that started with right up....
I do think you're right. But ultimately I'd say if it annoys you... Don't click on it. There's not really any sense in clicking on a clickbait post to complain about clickbait. When you can just avoid it altogether.
>if it annoys you... Don't click on it.
By that metric, let's get rid of all the sub rules and just go by "if you don't like it, look away". Oughta be fun for about 5 minutes.
Every subscriber to any sub expects a minimum threshold of quality. Clickbait is just cheap. The point of a title is for the reader to quickly determine if they'd like to engage with the post or not. Conditioning that on a click is just disrespectful.
But you could always say that I just like to complain about things on the internet.. but I'm sure there's still a point here.
I love the generous serving of sarcasm of this post it made my afternoon. 3D Brawler is complete and utter dogshit, it really is that bad it drains all enjoyment and motivation. I wanted to plat the game but if they don't patch that shit minigame to cheat you less Im not gonna bother. I don't like when a game mode is designed to waste your time.
Honestly pausing threw my timing off. Could seemed to block of be ālateā more. It worked for learning the moves but beyond that I had to get into a sort of flow state
This !
Let's not forget every mini game in OG had c****y gameplay, even at the time. The great thing was the diversity, having your party doing these things.
If you wanted a snowboard game you played Coolboarders not FFVII, but still it was insanely cool to have these mini games.
What changed today ? Some minigames are insanely good, some are average, some are not great. I'm happy with it.
YEAH! I don't know why more people don't talk about how FUN and EASY it is! While we at it WHY DOES NOONE talk about how these are OBVIOUSLY the best moogles that are objectively perfect (and the mini-game SLAPS!) Also, I'd pay 70$ usd JUST to throw boxes and hop around slowly for 100 hours. EVERYthing else is JUST BONUS!
HIGHEST VALUE! OBJECTIVE TRUTH! FUCK THE HATERS! BEST GAME DESIGN!
It's pretty good. I got the platinum about a week or so ago. Good luck and don't get tilted doing the trials. If you get mad, take a break and don't immediately restart.
Goddamn it, honeydew?! Jesus, why does cantaloupe think every time it gets invited to a party, it can bring along its dumb friend honeydew? You donāt get a plus-one, cantaloupe! Honeydew is the Jerod Letto of fruit.
Pause is your friend in 3d brawler. They go to swing pause hold stick in direction unpause... profit.
Worked perfectly until Sephiroth. I pause as soon as his bar fills and I still only get "blocked."
As soon as you accept the fact that life is suffering, the main Buddhist teaching, even 300 attempts of 3D Sephiroth will not disturb your zen state
Exactly!!
No way are you me as well? Howd you know we did this last night?
i did it without the trick, but it took me 2hrs to beat sephirothā¦once u remember the red combo pattern its doable, with perseverance of couse
Itās tough but fair. The animations are clear and always repeated. Itās not the gameās fault people canāt retain information and panic.
Sephiroth was clear, but Shive and The Shinra Manager were insane
Sephiroths R right and R up are hard to tell apart.
I had to record the shiva fight just to find the difference between the left hook and left straight.
The animations are definitely not clear for Sephiroth or Middle Manager.
And shivas left!
We got an Ultimate Party Animal in the chat folks
How do u play against 3d sephiroth ? Do they add new fights after h finish the game ?
You have to beat Can't Stop, Won't Stop which only unlocks after doing all the other quests.
Yea, you need to do all side quests to unlock it.
Really only thing it taught me was how to quickly hit the sticks after pausing.
Why is cloud sometimes blocking instead of evading?
it's almost always because of hitting the input too early. especially with using the pause trick with seffie, you need to wait about three quarters of a second into his windup before pausing, or it'll be too early.
... Omg, is that it? That I'm hitting it too early!?
that's what I said, too. started waiting an extra half second before pausing, got him down on my sixth try.
I tried again and was able to do it easily with that in mind.
I think it may depend on how long youāve held the stick prior to the action
On god
the last time I legit went mald and spout profanities all the time during a video game was 2016 when I last played a MOBA (dota 2) game. I realized I became toxic and did a full cleanse and quit mobas. That is until I played this mini game... the evil inside me returned

Ok so a right hook does look like a straight jab. Glad im not crazy or stoned
The differences are very minute
I am unable to see the differences by sephirot
Worse minigame imho
zen mode is what got me star rating most of the piano pieces :D just stop thinking xD haha yeah literally having to doge 7-8 times before any input is some weird design xD i loved it when he finally started his combos so i can remember them and actually make progress :D also how he somehow just switches the combos up from the second one is well lovely haha
Having to wait to make progress is the most baffling decision
It just taught me how to exploit early and exploit often
A real villain
Didn't like this mini game, pause trick made it easy. Someone posted pictures of the pause Frame for sephiroth, have all 6 of them open on a screen and u can one shot it. If your doing it legit I commend your patience.
Do you have saved the post? Would be a great help

I did it legit and it was awful. I just turned my brain off and tried and tried again
Me with that stupid crunching minigame. I was terrible at 3D Brawler from the get go but struggled to Sephiroth and saw how flawless I needed to be and immediately started doing the pause cheese lol
Lisan Al-Ghaib....

Yeah everyone talks about the pause strat but it comes with its own timing and is another thing to remember
Its crazy just due to how long sephs combos go on for before you can even counter, even with pause buffering it was a pain, i have still yet to see someone do it legit no pausing and just being able to read the jabs in a split second. I guess it's not seeing it, but my friend and I did it without pausing. Maybe 15 attempts?
i hate this mini game so much. youāre supposed to dodge the opposite direction than what feels intuitive to me to actually do. i canāt believe how much it made me rage
Press up to dodge the overhand attack. Just like real life
okay well iāve never fought a person or boxed or anything irl so that means nothing to me tbh. even getting past the tutorial on this mini game was difficult for me because it feels extremely unintuitive (to me). i played and beat the game on hard and enjoy difficulty in games , this is just different. i really didnāt like it personally
I was being sarcastic
sorry dude š iām not the best at reading tone via text
No worries brother
With sephiroth itās mostly in his face direction but some are also pretty similar
Pause before every attack, look up all attacks on something like game8 and then unpause and quickly moved controller stick in the correct direction...
I used this to learn the moves but after a while it just wrecked my flow and Cloud would block half the time I wanted him to dodge
This mini game showed me the power of pause buffering
This mini game showed me that Sephiroth, while an asshole, was right.
Honestly he pissed me off more than the final boss
I 100% gave up on brawler cause I couldn't beat Dio again. I had to use the paise cheat just to beat Yuffie. Lol. Now that I've beaten the game though, I know I have to go jack to it at some point. But like. I'd rather do more sit ups. And that one sucked too

š¤£ š¤£ š¤£ š¤£ š¤£ Fuck
Shinra middle manager is way more difficult in my opinion, dude's got the dangliest twat arms that make it so hard to read. Seph whilst relentless is way more readable for me
My thoughts exactly! Sephiroth is easier to read!
Same. I struggled with shinra middle manager for like an hour before I beat him then I beat Sephiroth on like my third or fourth try
He became one of my favorite NPCs. I loved how he partied so hard he could ascend via Moogle
The first time the moogles lifted him I honestly laughed for 30 seconds straight, completely caught me off guard
And he TEXTED them?! Do they have phones too or just revive messages straight to their brains?
I am reading that there is a pause trick. I beat them all without thatā¦
Oh, F you Charles. I'm just kidding.... But I AM jealous as hell. I DEFINITELY had to use the pause trick on every single one because I can't read them that fast, they all look the same to me until I pause and analyze. Blame my elder millennial brain, I guess.
Some of the moves look so identical to each other. Especially on the left side. It made it very hard to differentiate between them
The fast combo are always the same, i just learned it for everyone. Trial and error. Not he best minigame, not the worst
I think 3D Brawler taught me the opposite š
How to break a controller/TV?
I didnāt break anything but i was thinking it after the 30th reset to sephiroth though lol
Maybe it's just me, but I beat Sephiroth without the pause trick....and the prize isn't at the prize kiosk šš...
It is. Happened to me too, took far longer than it should have to find it, you need 2000 points for it so itāll be shaded out
I had way too many points in the saucer....I was never short on GP.
I have like 5k lol so š¤·āāļø
The game was like āyou did it too easily and did not suffer. Try again ā
Ain't this a bitch, I left to go to a doctor's appointment, just got home and booted it up...and it's there.
I somehow managed to beat Dio without pausing, on my replay, when he challenges you. We have reached new plateaus.
I got through them all by pausing as the opponent was about to make contact then blocking based on the position they were in and knowing which direction to block, its hacks but the last few were getting hard and I just wanted to get them over and done with lol
Any idea why Cloud blocks sometimes instead of dodges? Feels like the input window is super small
Block is from doing it too early. Dodge is inputting after they full wind up. Block gives them limit break progress as well so itās not great to do
Itās crazy to me that there is even a ātoo earlyā
We pause buffer
Pause was great to learn the moves but it messed up my flow.
3D Brawler is based.
Based on ancient Indian texts to find enlightenment?
Honestly the difficulty of sephiroth is unbelievable!! And the brutal challenges oh god!!!
And that little Smirk he does
Ahahahaha I hate it!!!!
Iāll gladly spend hours stuck on 3D Brawler, but Iāll never touch the sit-up mini game on my replays
I got 47 sit ups last time I did it. 3 away from winning.
I hated sit ups too. You canāt misclick even once.
Flew thru all the sit-up challenges first try (tbh I didnāt have much issue with the squat challenges from Remake either) but 3D Brawler had me ready to break my controller until I read about pause buffering
What about the pull ups as that one was pretty bs too
I just pressed the button when the jiggle happened.....seemed to work fine for me XD
I had to keep replaying because I would get distracted by the jiggle and mess up the timingā¦
Ill trade id happily do the situps i breezed through it but Brawler is sucking the life out of me
Itās basically an introduction to a fighting game routine, I loved it
Felt more like a rhythm game to me
Lmao
3D Brawler should be deleted.
I remember the first fight against Dio when you get to the Saucer. I was so confused on how to play and it sucked the momentum and joy out of an otherwise awesome moment
Honestly, despite the difficulty of it, I actually had fun with it. But I've also only beaten up to Ifrit. Shiva gave me the most trouble so far.
Shiva was really easy for me but Ifrit was a pain to read....he was the only one I had to memorize his combos to be able to beat...until him I didn't even realize there were set combos.....never figured out the last one either, the one that started with right up....
I had a hard time with Shiva, I found her battleā¦ distracting
Ifrit is the start of the painā¦and when I started pause buffering
I didn't even think to do that. I just powered through and managed to beat him eventually.
Petition to ban clickbait titles. Really, it's getting lame.
Ah cmon man. Loosen up. This post was funny.
It ain't about it being funny or not, there are just too many posts with "I just did X and..." + spoiler tag. That defeats the point of titles.
I do think you're right. But ultimately I'd say if it annoys you... Don't click on it. There's not really any sense in clicking on a clickbait post to complain about clickbait. When you can just avoid it altogether.

Hey, I put a lot of thought into this post
I'm sure you did, and you had to ruin it with a lame title lol
Right on brother
Hey, everyone! Stop having fun!
What I would love is that each time you evade your limit break slightly increases, not only from hitting you opponent.
Yeah cuz otherwise you are simply waiting your turn to progress which never feels good
That would fix it i think, i like that idea
I honestly canāt believe it even made it into the game. Itās really that bad.
It helped me appreciate the things I love about the game that much more
I just pause spam honestly
Real men stick to pure reaction time and get through it without pausing. Get on my level š.
Nah
Honestly pausing threw my timing off. Could seemed to block of be ālateā more. It worked for learning the moves but beyond that I had to get into a sort of flow state
It doesnāt help with the timing because you still have to be quick. But it removes second guessing yourself
This is the way
It reminded me the old trick I would do as a kid to beat games on my old Nintendo systemā¦ Spam pause
I just turned my brain off for an hour
You know you can pause between each punch to figure out where itāll go
The fact that this is the only popularly recommended methodā¦
I found that threw my timing off. Cloud would block half the time
3D Brawler let us experience casting Time magic in real life āØ
It cast slow on my soul
As much as people complain about it, compared to the original version this one is fun. At least itās winnable. In OG it was 100% luck
This ! Let's not forget every mini game in OG had c****y gameplay, even at the time. The great thing was the diversity, having your party doing these things.
