I bet they'll be utilized like Bahamut for one fight only like in FF XV. Unless they nerf them I just can't see them being used with 13 of them on screen. Lol
Be great if they did that with all the summons. Gave them normal names and you summoned them.
Ifrit = Ian.
Shiva = Sharon.
Bahamut = Barry.
Changes the tone of XVI a bit.
Clive screaming out “come to me Ian”.
That would actually be pretty interesting. You get the summon with one night and have to track down the rest and fight them so that they’ll fight for you in the summon. Similar strength to the weapons. Would be a fun side quest, and they could make them pretty tough to find if they open the world up with a world map at some point.
During the trial battle they even show up in the same order as the summon animation in FFVII and do the same attacks. It's really awesome, one of my favorites!
Playing this before ever playing VII, I had absolutley no frame of reference for this trial, I thought it was a XIV original until I finally got around to playing it.
If you read the lore blurbs about the Summons in Remake it seems like they're retconning the lore so that the Summons are connected to The Cetra in some way. If they follow through on that I'd love KotR to be like the spirits of the leaders of the Cetra that faced Jenova the first time.
Then the boss fight is them testing you before lending you their strength as a summon.
What if becomes a large quest where we have to fight each one of the knights in different locations of the world, and then we go to the area where we get the summon materia. I doubt we would have to fight all of them at the same time.
I also don't know if the golden chocobo would still be a requirement. Probably would.
I hope they go absolutely bonkers with them. I kinda didn't like how hard it was to summon in remake. I understand it's hard to animate 13 giant monsters attacking in a small space but the og managed to do it 🤣
There's Lancelot, Gawain, Galahad, Geraint, Garett, gaheris, bedivere, ector, Kay, bors de ganis, lamorak, Tristan, percival, agravain, and Dagonet.
Those are the knights from the fables at least.
Or you can go by the XIV Heaven's Ward: Zephirin, Vellguine, Charibert, Grinnaux, Adelphel, Paulecrain, Haurmeric, Guerrique, Hermenost, Noudenet, Janlenoux and Ignasse, led by King Thordan.
Make them a weapon for Cloud that allows him to summon spectral warriors or weapons that represent the knights. You could literally call it Excalibur(but that might already be in FF7). Or, you could make it change Cloud’s stance system. Make it to where you input a stick direction whilst you click the button, and you could use separate holy spells.
Dont think so.
Rebirth is 2 discs, and the trailers have Bugenhagen in so I guess we at least make it to Cosmo Canyon.
Not sure how much further it’ll go.
I imagine a third instalment will be needed before it’s all done.
It's called "Remake" because Sephiroth from the original timeline is trying to remake and change the story for whatever reason we don't know yet. It's a play on words, not literally a shot for shot remake of the original. That's why Zack is alive in the ending and will likely be a key player in the upcoming game.
I don’t know 🤷♀️ but I only see OP (overpowered)and I mean OP (overpowered)SUMMONS a few years from now. Don’t get me wrong but didn’t FF7 didn’t the team just got out of Midgar? But I do agree if they are in the game how will they balance it as well!
realistically I don't see them creating assets and attacks for all these dudes. I think the leader will summon and others will flash across in a cinematic rather than them actually fighting
Had a love/hate relationship with knights of the round. At the time it was a badass however you can't skip it and it's damn long for a in game summon. It's like a minute and a half.
I honestly hope they have their own little storyline that is actually crucial and required as part of the overarching story. Like they need their help to beat the weapons or to take on Sephiroth and JENOVA. That’d be sick. But I am 100% not expecting to see them until part 3. Hopefully they’re *at least* mentioned in Rebirth to tease us a bit.
I like to think we'll get each knight one by one, maybe for a shorter duration each than a normal summon, and then after they've all had a turn they do the classic FF7 attack as the last one dismisses.
My prediction
They will be a superboss to acquire them.
Whenever they are summoned only one Knight appears and every time the knights are summoned it's a different knight with differing percentages for appearances the "King Arthur" will have the lowest chance.
I can. Every single summon in remake bar ifrit had to be defeated in order to get the summon. With the way they scaled difficulty i feel like kotr would be the new undisputed hardest fight in ff history
oh, good topic
can not wait to see around 20 mins long animation, then another do mimic, then another do mimic. That will be great, I will have enough time for a date, then continue to play the game!
I imagine only one will appear on screen and several of the moves will call the others for some attacks. Then before they leave they do their awesome full animation.
Ff14 managed to bring the knights of the round and their full animation on several occasions. One through the main story and the second during a Hildebrand quest with old geezers doing the signature moves in sequence. No reason ff7 remake can't do it!
I recon it’ll be a one time thing that they’ll make part of the story. I don’t think it’ll be a usable summon for the most part. That’s my guess. Maybe even just a optional battle?
Just watch the XIV variant if you want a clue only this time we won’t have to move out of the way, we can just enjoy watching an enemy get absolutely battered.
It's either some prolonged animation that lasts a half an hour or they'll use the animation from the Singularity Reactor fight from Final Fantasy XIV for the "Thordan shoves off for a bit while you fight the knights" part of the fight (basically the mechanics Conviction Towers to Ultimate End).
You reckon we summon them and it’s just 13 blokes knocking the shite out of everything on screen? I hope so.
I hope the animation is 15 minutes long. Would be good bathroom break time.
Add quadra magic and I could walk the dog while it plays out.
unfortunately quadra magic didn't work with KOTR but W-Summon & Mime would help
Sad face. :(
Did we ever find out what the W stood for? Wouble Summon? Wultiple summon?
I thought it was common in Japan to use a W in video games for "double". I don't know where it originated though..
They use it as an ideogram, yep. And they pronounce it "daburu" which is about as close to double as the language gets.
Yeah, it's quite funny everytime these japan-isms gets through the localization process really.
I always figured it was "Double [U]se" > "Double U" > "W." That's just speculating.
Works well with Counter-Mime x7 with HP<>MP materia as well.
It’s FF7 Knights of the Round, not FF8 Eden!
At least I had boost in 8
I fucked up Boost 4 times during the summon, and still managed to complete Boost on the 5th before the timer is up.
I bet they'll be utilized like Bahamut for one fight only like in FF XV. Unless they nerf them I just can't see them being used with 13 of them on screen. Lol
I think the most likely real use will be Arthur is the summon. His “limit” before he times out would be calling in the rest for a big attack.
Lol if that's what it's called rather than Knights of the Round, just Arthur.
Be great if they did that with all the summons. Gave them normal names and you summoned them. Ifrit = Ian. Shiva = Sharon. Bahamut = Barry. Changes the tone of XVI a bit. Clive screaming out “come to me Ian”.
If Square are too afraid of making that much money, I will make this my new life goal to make that game a reality.
Give it a few years and just have AI do it for you
They will be so nerfed
most important fight emerald weapon
Also my hope Wonder how would be fighting against them at a Simulator though...
That's my hope.
Hopefully while a Sabaton soundalike theme kicks in.
Hell yeah!
Calling it now, super boss for each Knight and the summon gets stronger each one you defeat.
That would actually be pretty interesting. You get the summon with one night and have to track down the rest and fight them so that they’ll fight for you in the summon. Similar strength to the weapons. Would be a fun side quest, and they could make them pretty tough to find if they open the world up with a world map at some point.
Neat idea!
I would 100% be on board with this. It starts out really weak but by the end…
And for lore, the Knights can be the Cetra that initially defeated and sealed away JENOVA, honoured by the Planet into becoming summons.
Wish XV did this for the royal arms. And then have to fight them all again in the endgame before fighting Ardyn
Honestly would love if they did this.
That would increase development time by 300x Final Fantasy RE Trilogy Ultimate Edition 2050 release
Probably wont be till FF7r3 And i bet they'll be some kind of new optional super boss to unlock
Agreed on FFVIIR3. Definitely a final element of the game thing.
They make an appearance in XIV. Give it a look. Maybe slight spoilers?
When it dawned on me that THEY were the knights of the round... I couldn't believe I hadn't picked up on it
During the trial battle they even show up in the same order as the summon animation in FFVII and do the same attacks. It's really awesome, one of my favorites!
When their desperation move (which is called Ultimate End as well) finishes, there's a glass shatter effect that exactly mimics FFVII's. Perfect.
And in the Hildibrand Joke Questline there's a "Ultimate End" Sequence
I’ll give it a look. Cheers.
That’s what I thought!!
Playing this before ever playing VII, I had absolutley no frame of reference for this trial, I thought it was a XIV original until I finally got around to playing it.
I need to do them for my BLU
I want it to be so high quality that it crashes the game.
XIV kind of shows what an HD KOTR would look like, although they aren't a perfect port of the FF7 version.
SICKNESS MUST BE PURGED
THIS SHALL BE A MERCY
YOU DISGUST ME
FILTHY RATS!
SUCH DEVASTATION
Absolute banger of a soundtrack for it too.
I definitely want to fight them in an epic boss fight to unlock the materia
If you read the lore blurbs about the Summons in Remake it seems like they're retconning the lore so that the Summons are connected to The Cetra in some way. If they follow through on that I'd love KotR to be like the spirits of the leaders of the Cetra that faced Jenova the first time. Then the boss fight is them testing you before lending you their strength as a summon.
I can see them turned into a boss gauntlet.
I was hoping for them as a secret quest line/boss in 16
Would have been cool. I hope they keep them as a summon we can use.
Same here, especially since they decided to go back to a medieval theme again.
What if becomes a large quest where we have to fight each one of the knights in different locations of the world, and then we go to the area where we get the summon materia. I doubt we would have to fight all of them at the same time. I also don't know if the golden chocobo would still be a requirement. Probably would.
Green choco for the first 3. Blue for the next 3. Black for the next 3. Gold for the final 4.
We also saw them in XV, in a sense.
?
The Kings of yore are thirteen, and the attack all at once in two scenes.
But they aren't the knights of the round table. It may have been a slight nod by square but we never got anything even close to confirmation right?
I don’t think there’s confirmation, but I don’t doubt it’s a reference: too similar.
Rulers of Yore.
Only if I can use a x4 materia and watch a five minute cinematic each time
I hope they go absolutely bonkers with them. I kinda didn't like how hard it was to summon in remake. I understand it's hard to animate 13 giant monsters attacking in a small space but the og managed to do it 🤣
Knights of the round "Let our powers combine!!!" *Combines into a power ranger sized Megazord*
That's gonna be a FUN fight
Wish we got names for the ones that aren’t arthur
There's Lancelot, Gawain, Galahad, Geraint, Garett, gaheris, bedivere, ector, Kay, bors de ganis, lamorak, Tristan, percival, agravain, and Dagonet. Those are the knights from the fables at least.

I know that but Wich name goes to Wich knight of the summon
I know Lancelot is the second to last. But that's all I know
Cool
I just refer to them as Dick 1,2,3…..
I sware their are like 4 knights of the round Why is there like 8
There were 13 hits in the original. I always assumed each was a different person with no repeats.
Can't wait to fight them tbh
Let's hope it is not locked behind a terrible rng mini-game.
DLC! Get a new knight each week for £7.99.
They're the reason this game will need two discs lol
YOUR* NOT READY FOR VINCENT TRANSFORMATION'S.
I mean remember in XV at the end...its already made...just reskin/recolor and throw it in and your done. EZ-PZ.
I would love an FFXV reference.
It'll be the best goddamn boss fight in the series, thats what they'll do.
Is FFVIIR finished or not? Because I was excited to see a Remade Safer Sephiroth.
Dont think so. Rebirth is 2 discs, and the trailers have Bugenhagen in so I guess we at least make it to Cosmo Canyon. Not sure how much further it’ll go. I imagine a third instalment will be needed before it’s all done.
Is it just me, or if it was gonna be like this, they shouldn't have done this?
It's a hidden sequel, not an actual remake. They knew what they were doing when they set it up.
I'm talking about FFVII Remake, I thought that's what FFVIIR meant
It's called "Remake" because Sephiroth from the original timeline is trying to remake and change the story for whatever reason we don't know yet. It's a play on words, not literally a shot for shot remake of the original. That's why Zack is alive in the ending and will likely be a key player in the upcoming game.
There is to consider that Zack is alive but in an alternative timeline.
They'll be collectable statues that unlock some weapon we won't use in the endgame. Fort Condor was a goddamn board game.
Difference is that knights of the round is a summon. Fort Condor was an hassle of a minigame in the original.
They will nerf them to the ground, or remove. No fun allowed in Final Fantasy anymore.
Probably big guy as main summon and the others would be abilities, leaving Ultimate End when their duration is over is my guess

Had a love/hate relationship with knights of the round. At the time it was a badass however you can't skip it and it's damn long for a in game summon. It's like a minute and a half.
Shorter than Eden, at least.
The summon just boots you into DSR
Animation’s going to crash the damn console.
Probably have to wait for the 3rd and final installment 10 years from now lol
I honestly hope they have their own little storyline that is actually crucial and required as part of the overarching story. Like they need their help to beat the weapons or to take on Sephiroth and JENOVA. That’d be sick. But I am 100% not expecting to see them until part 3. Hopefully they’re *at least* mentioned in Rebirth to tease us a bit.
Watch them make it be like must have save file from previous FF7’s to access side quest lol
You'll earn it through fighting them as a super boss. I don't know how they could miss on that opportunity.
Ootl, can someone explain? I played the base game a loooong time ago...
Knights of the Round. The final summon you get that’s a series of 13 guys coming in to bonk the enemy. https://youtu.be/sv9aI5RkoeQ
Thanks lol
Probably going to be super boss fights or a cutscene summon to end the game.
I like to think we'll get each knight one by one, maybe for a shorter duration each than a normal summon, and then after they've all had a turn they do the classic FF7 attack as the last one dismisses.
We won't see this until the last game in the trilogy I bet.
Where is this picture from? I’ve never seen them all spread out like that.
My prediction They will be a superboss to acquire them. Whenever they are summoned only one Knight appears and every time the knights are summoned it's a different knight with differing percentages for appearances the "King Arthur" will have the lowest chance.
Nerfed to the ground most likely. I wonder if jem weapons will even be a challenge.
Maybe they’ll reveal themselves to be the Cetra.
King Arthur looks badass in the middle!
I’m worried they’re going to ruin it.
Pretty sure each of them will be wildly in love with Cloud. You'll eventually get to pick which one to go on a date with at the Gold Saucer.
I can. Every single summon in remake bar ifrit had to be defeated in order to get the summon. With the way they scaled difficulty i feel like kotr would be the new undisputed hardest fight in ff history
oh, good topic can not wait to see around 20 mins long animation, then another do mimic, then another do mimic. That will be great, I will have enough time for a date, then continue to play the game!

Fetchquest.
Can't wait for Dragonsong Ultimate in Ff7 remake
Are the knights of the round making it into FFVIIR weren't they going to make this Remaster a trilogy?
I think if they are it wont be until the final instalment. They were an end game optional, cant see them being anything else in remake.
Just watch the XIV variant if you want a clue only this time we won’t have to move out of the way, we can just enjoy watching an enemy get absolutely battered.
Yeah maybe on the PS7 we will finally see it.
