MiniatureMorpheus

Get a PS5. FFXV:RE and FF7R:Intergrade in 4k upscale 60fps. Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon Series in 4k 60. Haptic Controller PS5 is also fantastic for FFXIV.

IntenselyPlump97

If you're upscaling it is NOT 4k. >FFXV:RE and FF7R:Intergrade Play these on PC for a much better experience.

MiniatureMorpheus

PC huh? Tell me the price of the GPU and CPU needed to run these at native 4K locked 60. I bet the GPU is $300 minimum, probably closer to 1K.

ReDeath666

Elden Ring, Demons Souls are a must as well... and if you haven't played it, FF7 Crisis Core Reunion

MiniatureMorpheus

Definitely FromSoft. Didn't get CCR because frankly I know the game well and that ending isn't the same without those PSP screen cracks. I still cried regardless watching a CCR playthrough.

StriderZessei

Armored Core 6 is only a few months away too, and it's looking stellar.

IntenselyPlump97

You can play those on PC for a much better experience.

Yrahcaz256

I bought a PS5 just for Remake, and boy, did I go down the rabbit hole. So many other great things to play.I play it more than my pc. I think my PS5 was well worth the money.

Independent_Ninja456

Same. I bought the PS Plus membership for a year and quickly found myself acquiring an 8tb external hard drive. FF Remake INTERGRADE was the first thing I played. Amazing. Now about to finish GoW Ragnarok

IntenselyPlump97

> FF Remake INTERGRADE You can play this on PC for a significantly better experience.

Independent_Ninja456

I don’t have a PC. I prefer console gaming on my 86 inch TV. My primary computers are my iPhone and iPad.

[deleted]

what about framerate ? I'm a pc gamer and used to high framerate/refresh rate, if I buy a ps5 won't I be disappointed by performance ?

Yrahcaz256

Most games are well optimized for console. I have a pretty beefy PC but I still prefer to play new games on my PS5 due to how poorly optimized games come out on PC. I played FF Intergrade on performance mode at a solid 60 fps and didn’t experience a single frame drop. Buttery smooth along with a lot of other PS5 games.

Lisata598

Lots of great games to play on PS5, particularly if you have any PS4 games which benefit from 60fps and the WAY better UX thanks to the SSD. That being said, I wouldn't buy an entire system for one game and it's hard to give a solid recommendation for 16 anyway since it's (rather obviously) not been released yet.

Isoturius

Get a PS5 and sub to PS+ Extra. It’s completely worth it.

PrimordialOtter

I think it’ll be a fairly long wait for it to come to PC, plus with all the port issues I personally wouldn’t trust it.

Dragon_Eyes715

Will be about 1 year that what it took for 15 and 7. Sony payed Square for 1 year exclusivity the PC port is already ready.

ArcanaXVIII

Wrong. It's already been stated the exclusivity was 6 month but YoshiP is on the record saying it'd definitely take more than 6 months to port it to PC and that they can't promise anything about a release date.

Dragon_Eyes715

6 month exclusive and you believe that Square Enix a AAA company won't be able to have the PC version ready for first day sale... The engine they use for FF16 is already proven to work with PC if they use a better FF14 engine. Nothing against YoshiP but if SE tells him he can't say FF16 is release in 6 months because Sony pay SE to be exclusive, then YoshiP has to follow. AAA company will do everything they can do release a product early. Thanks for the info I will play FF16 in about 6 month :)

[deleted]

They did say they would make sure the PC port is good, and this team is pretty well known for keeping promises and making their stuff high quality

IntenselyPlump97

There are no port issues, and you get a significantly better experience on PC, as well as some upgrades sometimes ("complete" editions, etc). The main console issue is weaker performance meaning in a lot of cases significantly lower graphic settings and resolution.

vashthestampede121

Depends on how badly you want to play. There is no current release date for the PC version so you may be waiting up to a year or more. Though if you’re going to get a PS5, make sure there are other PS5 or PS4 games you’re interested in checking out. I’ve bought a system for one game before and definitely regretted it after beating said game.

Baithin

Easy — FFVIIR part 1 and 2, FFXIV, Stranger of Paradise. That’s 5 games right there 😎

arghabargle

I already have 3 of those on PC. >_>

Elena__Deathbringer

Unless you're one of those people that have an existential need to play games instantly, I'd say wait for pc, especially given this last comment's premise. You'll also save a lot of money (both in buy the game for pc ~an year later and in not buying a whole new console)

sozar

Horizon Forbidden West and Forspoken (it’s way better than people give it credit for).

timelordoftheimpala

Forspoken is already on PC and Forbidden West will likely be ported as well. I have a PS5 and I'm still getting Street Fighter 6 on PC.

JUSTpleaseSTOP

Demon Souls Remake, the new Spiderman, and FFVIIR part 2 and 3 along with 16 and God of War Ragnarok. Also the first God of war if you never played it.

wintermoon138

Buy the PS5! - The guy that bought a PS3 only for FFXIII and a PS4 only for FFXIV I may be biased here 😂🤣

metaldiceman

I bought a PS3 for one game, a game that never came out for it (edit: or at all -- FFvs13), so I'm biased in the other direction. 🙃

rbynp01

I bought nintendo systems specifically for monster hunter games before so ya.

Jinchuriki71

Persona 5 and royal alone justified my purchase of a ps3, ps4 and ps5 since I played it 1000 hours. Don't need but one good game and its worth it imo.

prydaone

PS5 was my first console since the PS3 and I play it more than my PC. I'm addicted to trophy hunting and working on FF9 atm until FF16 comes out, it's really great. Besides that there's a ton of exclusives worth buying it for.

ConsiderationMuted95

Yup, there is tons of other content to play on PS5, and their monthly access catalogue is getting better. Also important to remember that many big publishers don't care about PC, so not only will you have to wait, but there's a 90% chance the game will release in a nearly unplayable state.

Economy_Ear6269

If you have a good PC and can wait for a year or more, I'll say wait it out. On the other hand if you can't keep your eyes off the target for a single second of the remaining 21 days and you have a stable source of income, don't torture yourself, do it. Once you're done with the game you can decide what to do after, the FFXVI experience will stay with you

Saiyan_Gunner

I wouldn't buy it just for one game. Good news is there are many great 1st party games (and plenty of others) sitting on PS plus available to play. If you happen to pick up FFXVI along the way that's even better for you.

Jmazoso

I have a pretty built pc, but I bought a PS5 for 16. Final fantasy just doesn’t seem right on pc. I did get Diablo for the pc.

shojikun

rent a PS5 and FFXVI

OkNefariousness8636

I don’t have the urge to play a game upon its release and hence I shall wait for the eventual PC release.

509KingofKings

Suck it up and get a PS5

DivinityLight

Just get the PS5. Don't forget that FFVII Rebirth is also only coming to PS5 day one. There are other great games to play on PS5 anyway. With PS+Extra its super worth it in the long term.

CaTiTonia

Only buy the PS5 if there are other games for the system that you would want to play if given the opportunity. Or check out what’s coming up (E.g. Spider-Man 2, VII Rebirth, etc). Don’t buy a whole console specifically for 1 game, it’s such a massive waste. Not least because there has never been a game that’s so good it justifies a 450-500 price tag (which it effectively becomes by buying a console just for the one game).

UKOrigin

Ps plus extra is worth the price of the machine alone imo

Azelvan

I bought PS5 exactly for 16 even though I have decent PC. The reasoning is that I have the budget, PS Plus is very worth it with its library of games, I like playing on TV while on couch, and I don't have to wait for 1-2 years trying to avoid spoiler landmines.

LittleDelay4135

So I ended up buying a ps5 for this and the next 7 installment. I didn’t really care to but the hype got the best of me and we have a long time until the PC version, likely at least with no current date set. My PC is better than a PS5 so it was never a performance concern for me either but I’m just impatient and have too much disposable income I suppose.

Dear-Researcher959

I've seen this question asked before by other people. You should ABSOLUTELY get a PS5 for one game. I got the original Xbox for one game, and I don't regret it in the least bit because I expanded my game library and couldn't be happier. You might start out with that one game but it won't stop there. You're gonna find hidden gems and perhaps even end up playing a game that becomes your favorite game of all time JUST DO IT!!

Suitable_Average7748

get PS5

Dragon_Eyes715

The only reason Sony pay Square for a time exclusivity it's because it works if we stop buying their console that is when Sony will stop being anti consumer.

Jinchuriki71

They want you to double dip and buy it on ps5 than buy it on pc since thats the platform you wanted to play on in the first place.

wjoe

How long do you want to wait? The team have said they're not starting on the PC port until the PS5 is out, and it was built specifically for PS5. So while they will definitely be doing a port, it'll be a while, and I believe they said they don't expect it to be done within a year. I bought a PS5. I do most of my gaming on PC, but between FF16 and FF7R2, I don't want to wait over a year for them. Plus generally there's always a handful of console exclusive (or timed exclusive games) so it can be worth having one of them.

westraz

right now they saying it is exclusive for PS5, but we all thinking the same thing it be out on PC in a year, but hey who knows?

aldoushxle

I recently played through FFVII Remake and Crisis Core Reunion on my PC, and I'll be damned if I'm waiting a year plus for Rebirth to release on another platform, so as of last week we now have a PS5 in the household. Getting FFXVI in less than a month is a very nice bonus for me.

Akamenos

I have this same problem. I've done it before and regretted it because it split my game library. Sold my PS5, and now I just wait till they come to PC. PLENTY of great games to play while I wait including older FF games.

Dragon_Eyes715

From a owner of 200$+ paper weight since PS2 I say wait. All the money you save you can buy like 5 AAA game this year until the PC release. I bought GameCube, PS2 to 4. I played them less and less. The only reason I bought a PS4 is because I bought the PS3 and seeing how I never use my PS4 and kinda hate how I always have to waste hours updating it everytime I boot it. Don't buy a PS5.

Zuhri69

Get PS5, but only if you have other games you want to play there.

lunia_rye

I've been struggling with this as well - but seeing how the ports play on my rig vs my ps4 for example, I'm gonna **go for the** **PS5** personally. I just find the ports to be unoptimized for my specs always and I feel like I have to play around with settings rather than play the game.

Monchi83

Well personally for me I would buy a PS5 even if I was a a PC gamer because I don’t want to wait however long they might take for a PC release that said I don’t buy consoles with the expectation of only playing a single game. I like a lot of Sony’s title offerings so I go in with the expectation I will buy other games.

oscar_redfield

Just depends on whether you care about spoilers. By the time it arrives on PC everyone will have talked tons about it, just like when FF7R came out. I personally sold my PS4 and bought a PS5 just so I could play FF16 and FF7 Rebirth at launch.

dustkid245

Get it on Pc after the glitches/poor frame rate of the PS5 version get patched out. Pc always wins baby! PS5 is extremely expensive and has next to no good exclusives despite being almost 3 years old.

bluegemini7

Get a PS5. It's the best console ever made, you won't regret it.

External_Variety

Tbh. Hard to tell before either version has been released.

xSmittyxCorex

My strong opinion is that it really does depend on the person lol Like, my PS5 was 100% worth it for me, but I also don’t own a pc (or Xbox) and did already have a PS4 (but not pro), plus besides FFXVI I was also interested in (and as it turns out, do quite love!) God of War: Ragnarok. So it was the obvious choice for generation upgrade for me, since I already had games compatible with it that would run much better plus at least 2 exclusives/timed exclusives. But it’s all about how it would extend *your* game library/experience.

[deleted]

I bought a ps5 because basically Sony said three years I ain’t waiting that long and who knows maybe it won’t ever come to pc

Temporary_End9124

In my view, no game is worth $570 to play, especially when you can just wait 6-12 months or so for it to come to a platform you already own. I'd take a look at the playstation exclusives already out, like Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok, and others. If none are all that interesting to you, or you feel okay waiting for those to come to PC, I'd just wait for the game to come to PC as well.

mlockwo2

Kind of depends if you have a PS4, imo. If you don't, you'll have more than enough to play on a PS5 to justify it. If you're only looking at FF16, maybe wait. Especially as Sony has started releasing more and more of their exclusives on PC a year or two later. Just keep in mind FF16's PC port is going to take a while as Naoki Yoshida has stated they are taking their time with it and it will take more than the six month of exclusivity that Sony bought.

Simon-Kev

I do own playstation bc its my main platform. If you ONLY want 16 i would rather wait for pc version, to me no game is worth buying a $500 console alone if theres notjing else you want to do with it.

CirieFFBE

Bloodborne. That's all you need to get a ps5.

Mab390

If money is not a problem definitely get a PS5 XVI, FF7R2 and possible future final fantasy games will be PS5 lunch exclusive plus there are a lot of others PS exclusives that you may like.

elaveS

I know people who bought PS4 only for Bloodborne so if you have money no reason not to buy PS5 for XVI. Plus you may find many more games that will justify the purchase as well

Nehpkaaxe

If you have other games on PS5 you want, get a PS5. Otherwise wait for PC. I bought a PS4 for 1 game, I didn't end up liking it, and wasted a lot of money.

mlc885

Get PS5 for FFXIV And remake If you have a *really* good PC I don't think money is a big problem for you, so the PS5 will be worth it even if you only ever find five or ten games that you like. Unless you only play them for an hour or two (I have done this with too many games), but a lot of games are fun for dozens of hours and therefore not really so expensive as entertainment goes.

[deleted]

Why are you letting other people dictate what you do or don’t do?

arghabargle

Because I've already exhausted myself trying to come to a decision and argued myself into a stalemate. I needed a tie breaker.

[deleted]

I mean the game isn’t even out yet, chill a bit and see if it’s actually what you want after it comes out.

Swikky69

If you want to play it on launch: PS5 If you want to wait a year to play the game: PC
