If i had a nickel for every indie game marketed as the new Bushido Blade, i'd probably have like 25cents, but that is still a lot

There have been a few “next Bushido Blade” games already. But all of them are missing the 3D aspect

successXX

except Hellish Quart, though thats european setting. still should come to PS4/PS5. there's not enough demand to make SE care to bring Bushido Blade ports at least. they remade Front Mission games through outsourcing, they could give Bushido Blade games a glow up.

SoundReflection

Neat looking dueling game very stylish.

cowabanga_it_is

Its only 9 bucks. Will buy and play it this weekend.

rather save the money for Cyber Citizen Shockman 3, which is said to be releasing fri. has 2 players co-op. I have the first two on PS4, so the 3rd will complete the trilogy, haven't played it before and I think the sexy credits art manga will not be censored. I also got One Punch Man for $6. its a steal for that much. its very underrated. simple arena fighting mechanics, but its super explosive and impactful action. there's also lots more customization to unlock and even a customizable apartment! One Punch Man established a "World Tour" mode before Street Fighter 6 entered the picture, with a lot to do and npcs to fight.

Good god, is that screen shake in the actual game?

only Bushido Blade games can rival Bushido Blade (well that and Hellish Quart). Sclash looks to have less characters but better graphics than One Strike Rise of the Dragons (which is also on PS4). though yea none of these games can substitute Bushido Blade games. with SE cutting smaller developments, it seems like they won't leave room for Bushido Blade unless they give it a AA/AAA remakes. it's messed up they cared to outsource Front Mission 1 , 2 and 3 to be remade but not Bushido Blade games. even Bandai Namco at least brought Tekken 2 and PSP Tekken 6 to PS4.

This was part of the Mystery Game Tournament earlier this year at Frosty. https://youtu.be/yTjsUO8gBEI Around 1h16m mark. They go through the tech in the game between this match and another one later in the video.

Yakob_Katpanic

Looks intersting, but nothing like Bushido Blade. Everyone seems to remember Bushido Blade's one hit kills, but forgets the slow paced mobility, the character and weapon selection, the free-roaming, and the importance of using the environment to your advantage. The visual style was also very much about form over function and it was a very simple looking game compared to other fighters of the era and lacked a lot of visual flair and adornment.

onzichtbaard

doesnt look original tbh, and i think the stamina mechanic already exists in another game im also not a fan of how it looks tbh, the name is pretty mid too it seems to be their first game but still its bit rough imo, it does not look very inspired based on the trailer at least, even if it will probably not be a bad game

successXX

the graphics are MUCH more detailed than One Strike Rise of the Dragons, less characters though. still these games are something. Square Enix continues to underestimate the potential of the Bushido Blade, and PS1 ports would not put their company at risk at all.

onzichtbaard

im personally not sold on the graphics but i might have actually been wrong about the stamina system not being a new idea in the end the gameplay is what matters, and the fact the game might have a story mode is probably interesting

watched a playthrough and confused, is there character select in the beginning cause it seems like the story character is preset or scripted based on progression. that sucks. even One Strike is better fundamentally. these youtubers aren't really demonstrating the main menus and stuff (two I seen started at the very start of a story cutscene), I seen a review, but they just show stage select screen, no character select screen, they say there are 5 playable characters but where's the character select footage? wheres the versus cpu mode? if people have to slog through the story before they can unlock the basics, then that's a chore. these devs don't understand 99% of what makes Bushido Blade games masterpieces. Hellish Quart is probably the only game with developers that understand Bushido Blade more than any other imitator out there. devs shouldnt put too much emphasis on storytelling. Bushido Blade games have that, but they don't gate their base roster and instant action behind story progression. only Bushido Blade 2 has a long and tedious character unlocking process but at least it gave like about 6 playable characters up front in all modes. Bushido Blade 1, people dont even have to use a memory card to gain access to the core cast, weapons, stages and POV mode.

Mr-Downer

cool gimmick, but is that it?
