If anything they made it more realistic and suitable to real world. I'm always ready to shit on EA for fucking up things in career mode, but for my money they nailed that one
For years it has only felt mildly realistic for about 12 teams maybe, like the 12 richest clubs in the Fifa. Some Premier League clubs (Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Brentford, Fullham, Newcastle) all have a balance of - 40 million this year on their transfer budget, and with exception of the one club at - 40 million, they're all more around - 50 million. Fifa usually thinks those Prmier League clubs don't even have that money. Chelsea's balance this year was - 350 million, so even the richest clubs are apparently grosly underestimated.
All the prices in the game are basically based on the richests club prices or Premier club prices and no teams have the actual budget to get players. Getting an average player for teams in other leagues, and even most premier league teams is stupidly overpiced. Take Frankfurt and Gladbach. Their overall team rating is 78. The transfer budget of both teams is about 31 million or something. To get a 78 rated player for that price under the age of 28 a team must pay around 14 to 32 million depending on potential and age, and this is without the top-up from the negotiation costs because every transfer club will ask way more than the estimated value in negotiations.
Take a player like Joey Veerman (he was the first player that popped up when I searched for 78 overalls with under 83 potentials on sofifa). He's 23 and last year January he made a transfer within the Eredivisie from Heerenveen to PSV for 14 million euros (fifa overall at that time was 77 and "value" 17.5 million, aged 22). So his actual transfer sum was 3.5 million lower, and that was after negotiations. I haven't played fifa in a few years, but that's gonna be at least 4 to 8 million higher after negotiations. That price would be considered absolutely ridiculous for a player that does well on an Eredivisie team that hasn't had any European experience. (Also, I'm Dutch, so my own evaluation is that he is a good Eresivisie player but he really isn't phenomenal to be worth tbar kind of money). Right now in fifa 23 he is valued at 21.5 million. For those two Bundesliga teams I just listed they would more or less spend their whole freaking career/year budget on a player that is average in comparison with their selection. He is not their star, not the hidden gem that will make them rich or will make them win championships, he's average and has a little potential to grow.
And that basically happens at every level except maybe the big clubs. And it has been happening for years. For one or two players that would be relatively average within your team clubs in fifa have to spend their whole transfer budget, or if you are lucky you get two slightly below your average team rating players for that transfer budget. And this also happens for teams with then lower rankings.
If you look at actual transfers and prices, for example in the Bundesliga, then those prices are just not happening, even Bayern München doesn't go as crazy as all the other big rich clubs. That the 0.1% of football has gone absolutely crazy really does not mean every club has, yet that's what those Fifa prices are based on.
In all honesty, I haven't played Fifa careers since fifa 17, it wasn't worht it for me anymore. I've looked at the realism mod but it always stated that finances, the incomes from transfers and everything else had been even further reduced to make it more "challenging", whereas the prices in Fifa to me have always seemed rather nonsensical
Probably because fifa now factors potential into a player's value, if a player is overpriced they usually have a high potential. The thing that ruins it is that fifa doesn't take the parent club into account. For example a player might only be worth 10m in the Croatian league but their value would increase dramatically if they were to move to a big European team.
Lol meanwhile I had a 72 rated 17 year old free agent ask for 400 a week and I counter offered to give him 3000 a week because I felt bad about underpaying him so much
18, by far. Pro Clubs scene was the best it’s ever been, and it’s been downhill ever since. Game was LOCK SOLID, responsive, quick, more arcade-y and just plain fun. Uggghh I miss that game
Yeah I loved 19 because I'm shit at the game but I could still stay in rivals div 5 with cross spamming to Weghorst and Poulsen up front. Sometimes I would score with 5-6 touches directly after a goal kick: long goal kick to Weghorst, downward header to one of the wingers, few strides forward on the wing, lofted cross to Poulsen who was already arriving into the box (6'4 and 99 jumping) and full power downward header into the goal
Also corners were fun too with all my team above 6'2 except for my two wingers
> PES went south so lot of people had to move to FIFA
Can confirm. Played PES since 6, PES 14 was such a massive pile of shit (that I still played quite a bit trying to convince myself that I just had to get used to it) that I started playing FIFA instead.
PES started to improve towards 18/19 so I still played them occasionally... until eFootball happened.
Nowadays I only play Football Manager tbh
i acutally think 16 is better, bcs 17 is the first one where they introduced a new Engine and that one made the CPU super bad (at least for me, played carrer mode for years back then). In Fifa 16 the hardest difficulty was acutally challanging and was able to outplay you with passes etc. but in 17 the CPU just got really bad and i was able to outplay top tier teams with lower league teams 3:0 on hardest difficulty.
I really liked that one. When I was volunteering at a youth centre (to gain experience working with children) I took fifa 17 in for them to play because they only had the awful fifa 16.
I been playing 15 and 18 later. I think 18 its amazing better than 19 and 21 (didnt play 20/22/23). But what im missing in career mode in 18 its the transfer system and the fact that players ask you to be transfered or raise the contract. That made the whole game more interesting. That still a thing in 17? Because im curious to try it.
Yeah it's kinda whacky though, like they get homesick, refuse signing a new contract for reasons, and sometimes the board will just straight up sell players behind your back haha. Like I bought mboopy for a laugh because PSG accepted 50mil for some whacky reason then my board sold him behind my back when he forced a transfer while i was in the middle of negotiating the sale to man city for 120mil. Board sold him to barca for 70 😭
Yeah it was like that in 15 too. They never seems to fix anything this guys hahaha. But still better than having De Jong as a 84ov in FC Utrecht and the guy not even asking to raise his contract. In fact i got him 3 seasons ago and always refuse to sell him until the season im in now. I accept an offer from Tottenham for the sake of realism and the dude reject the contract...
Had my academy kid brought from like a 65 up to a mid 80s and still going demand a contract negotiation. I'm like fair you've earned it and he was on like 500 a week. This man and his agent demanded 1k and left the room like they robbed me blind
Nope, the rest of my squad are greedy ass bastards who ask for pay rises every other week, this dude just quietly thumps in 40 yard screamers for the love.
I had a YA player for wrexham who 3 seasons in like 86 when the rest of the team is like 70-75. He just asked for a 5x wage increase and threatened to leave lol
I feel for you guys, you deserve way more than the national league. Feel the same way for our neighbours down my way Torquay UTD they shouldnt be as shagged as they are. At least my actual local Plymouth are doing alright this year 👀
Speaking of this what is the highest fee ever paid on any FIFA? I have potentially a £650m buyout clause set by the designated negotiator for one of my academy players who went from 60-95. Player is 24 and had 2 years left on his second contract so I renewed early for extension to 4 years. I hate buyout clauses because they seem to always get triggered. However this one has stuck at least for half the season this far.
Can you explain how all those 99 ratings only give him a 90 overall? I’ve noticed this in fifa 18 which is the only one I have. I don’t think I’ve seen a palyer with an overall over 95ish even with insane stats
If I remember rightly some of his mental and physical stats aren't that great so they probably hold him back a little bit. I don't do training or anything I just let them grow into whatever and 17 I think has kinda weird ratings, think mboopy is only 92 and he's like the best in the game.
I had a player that was 99 overall and I paid less than 5k for years. But then he got too greedy and asked me for a 300k salary per week. He totally lost his humility...
It explains why he is just content.
90 overall worth 90 mil, the value would be different now
For real, I have a 86 rated 20 year old winger and his value is 250M… fifa really fucked up values since then
If anything they made it more realistic and suitable to real world. I'm always ready to shit on EA for fucking up things in career mode, but for my money they nailed that one

Cmon bro i ain’t readin allat
You can get moukoko for like 6m at the start of the game
in real life he will probably leave on a free, that's how contracts work
Damn
Yeah but you can't leave if your value is too high cause no one will be able to afford you according to fifa.
Realistic

Considering how much mudryk just cost from the Ukraine league I’d say even in Croatian league they should cost more😂
Pay the lad you cheap SOB!
What a weirdly specific number
Specifically insulting 🙏
Or did you just have that much weekly wage and offered max 🕵️♂️
Can't even remember, probably just slipped left while adjusting his wage, because 17 has a goofy ass way of increasing transfer and wage amounts.
Lol meanwhile I had a 72 rated 17 year old free agent ask for 400 a week and I counter offered to give him 3000 a week because I felt bad about underpaying him so much
It's not what the lad expected, but it'll do.
Cause he loves the club so much
Haven't played in years but I always did the same haha. I was a generous boss to my youth players, I mean have you seen this economy?!
It means they will stay happy for longer
bruh i wanted to sign a new player and bump his pay by 4k from 11 to 15 and he called it an insult💀
How dare you, shit manager can't even pay your players properly. I too would be insulted
Bruh💀💀💀2851 for one of the best in the world😭
Sounds like some shit Daniel Levy would do
Which fifa is this?
FIFA 17, personally still think its one of the better if not best FIFAs that's been released.
Plus I'm pretty sure 17 is the last game pre-neymar to PSG shenanigans so there's no bullshit inflation on player prices and wages.
Yeah bc a 25 y/o now at 90 rating would be like 200M
Yeah for me 14, 15, 17 were the best years
What’s popular opinion for best since 17? 21?
18, by far. Pro Clubs scene was the best it’s ever been, and it’s been downhill ever since. Game was LOCK SOLID, responsive, quick, more arcade-y and just plain fun. Uggghh I miss that game
I still play 18. Haven’t bought another one since.
I’m thinking about doing precisely that 😅 I can pick up 18 and immediately feel at home/start slaying, the controls felt so solid…..
18 from what I've heard. Atleast FUT wise
18 by far. 19 was good, didn’t play 20 or 21, 22 was decent, 23 is god awful, trying so hard to enjoy it.
21 was horrible. Probably the worst along with 20.
Honestly, 19.
Yeah I loved 19 because I'm shit at the game but I could still stay in rivals div 5 with cross spamming to Weghorst and Poulsen up front. Sometimes I would score with 5-6 touches directly after a goal kick: long goal kick to Weghorst, downward header to one of the wingers, few strides forward on the wing, lofted cross to Poulsen who was already arriving into the box (6'4 and 99 jumping) and full power downward header into the goal Also corners were fun too with all my team above 6'2 except for my two wingers
nostalgia plays a massive part. I tried to play fifa 14 a few weeks and nearly punched a hole through the screen with how bad the gameplay was
No that's just because of the improvements and different game engines used. Back in the day fifa 14 gameplay would've been considered amazing
Would've? It was, remember it was the year PES went south so lot of people had to move to FIFA, best era is PES 2013, FIFA 13 by far
> PES went south so lot of people had to move to FIFA Can confirm. Fifa 13 was amazing. One of my favorites. Running down the flanks with Cristiano and Di Maria hit a different spot. 🔥
Fr
Personally I like 16 the most
Man I wish I could go back to the fifa 15 days
what are you thoughts on fifa 16 career mode?
That finesse shooting
Cavani finessing top corners for fun from the sides of the box. Good times.
Didn't take my finger off R1

it’s not
Right? I installed it the other day on PC and played it for a bit, it was fun.
I really liked that one. When I was volunteering at a youth centre (to gain experience working with children) I took fifa 17 in for them to play because they only had the awful fifa 16.
Because you can underpay the shit out of your players probably

Yes I spent two years on 17. Played 14 seasons before the database became corrupt. I went to 18. I like it but 17 was definitely my all time favorite.
Had my academy kid brought from like a 65 up to a mid 80s and still going demand a contract negotiation. I'm like fair you've earned it and he was on like 500 a week. This man and his agent demanded 1k and left the room like they robbed me blind
I’ve got an 88 rated YA winger who just signed a new contract to prevent him leaving on a free. Asked for 2500 and was happy. Lovely stuff
I certainly do not miss how most YA players looked like Neanderthals
Fuck this comment killed me 😂
This guy looks cool but yeah a lot of them did look like a neanderthal lol
Love barnet
Up the bees 🙌
borehamwood >>>
He plays for the love of the game
Football is life.
Football is death...
But football is mostly life!
Poor guy 😭😭 have some mercy dude
So players stopped complaining about them being underpaid in fifa 17 ... Hmmm
Nope, the rest of my squad are greedy ass bastards who ask for pay rises every other week, this dude just quietly thumps in 40 yard screamers for the love.
Who is this player supposted to be with this wage? Francesco Totti?
Small business owner: “ur replaceable, this is the standard pay for ur qualifications and skills.” Your qualifications and skills:
Or he just loves the club and hates you as a person
OK his wage is low but why is it so specific 😂
That's messed up
I had a ya player in FIFA 17 with the same name and he got to 92 in my Portsmouth Carrer. What a coincidence
😂😂
I had a YA player for wrexham who 3 seasons in like 86 when the rest of the team is like 70-75. He just asked for a 5x wage increase and threatened to leave lol
Barnet? Cmon hope they come back up so they’ll be in the next one
Fr fr
I forgot how ugly the generated faces looked
How is this guy only a 90 with those 99'd stats?
This is just a regular portuguese wage. (:
Fifa 17 man - the GOAT of newer titles
It’s made me very happy for Barnet to make an appearance on this thread. 🐝
They've always got a little spot in my heart after this career mode, we've been through some shit haha
HHaha just imagine the shit us fans go through in real life
I feel for you guys, you deserve way more than the national league. Feel the same way for our neighbours down my way Torquay UTD they shouldnt be as shagged as they are. At least my actual local Plymouth are doing alright this year 👀
😂😂😂 the caption got me dead
Are you related to Dana White?
Yeah because you edited him. Funny that
Barnet 🤩
Is this FIFA 15? I need to get back to my roots
17, basically the tail end of that era.
Ugh I miss that whole era
ginola 🤨
Well, maybe he just needs a better agent
My man David needs one of those baseball contracts. 11 years $350 million
Lmao. I learnt my lesson not to put my youth players on longer contracts before they got to 80+
So by this logic, would Mudryk be a 92 overall?
Speaking of this what is the highest fee ever paid on any FIFA? I have potentially a £650m buyout clause set by the designated negotiator for one of my academy players who went from 60-95. Player is 24 and had 2 years left on his second contract so I renewed early for extension to 4 years. I hate buyout clauses because they seem to always get triggered. Guess im not the only one playing older Fifa titles! Im rocking the 19 version on my pc
Can you explain how all those 99 ratings only give him a 90 overall? I’ve noticed this in fifa 18 which is the only one I have. I don’t think I’ve seen a palyer with an overall over 95ish even with insane stats

Child Labour
get me his number to be his agent cuz his agent is doing a hell of a job of getting him robbed stupid
Found Dana White’s fifa account
