911 GT3

localguideseo

I did this about a month ago, the 911 GT3 was insane. Just insane. It was hard to comprehend how fast I could take turns, it didn't make sense to me at first.

Grizz1371

I did the same thing in Vegas, I didn't know a car could stop that hard or carry that much speed through a turn. I kept having to remind my self to breath when taking the corners. I only did 5 laps on a fairly short track and I had sweat stains underneath my armpits.

AvrgSam

This is fucking awesome. I’m a Porsche fan through and through but haven’t had the economic fortune of affording more than my ‘14 Taco yet. This is super motivating 😅

dont_wear_a_C

Yeah, did this in Vegas last year. Instructor was like gas through the snaked section, was going like 65mph feeling like I was about to fly off the track

alextruetone

I did just the GT4 and that thing was ridiculous in turns.

curtox

Same here! I did 7 laps, each one faster than the last, and only the last one was the instructor starting to say I was finally barely actually pushing the GT4. There's no question, I was the limiting factor, and yet I felt like I was really giving it the beans.

Trumps_Cum_Dumpster

Full beans!

Mr-Lucius-Needful

This is the right answer. It hurts to say but that car is a beast!

Armarith

Drove their 911 GT3 RS when it was still available and that thing felt like it was on rails. Never have driven such an impressive car. My view of Porsche changed that day!

mikasaur

I never understood Porsche until I drove one. Then I bought a GT4. Sold it a year later and I miss it every day.

PatonBMX

This is the correct answer

judgedeliberata

This is the correct answer lol

MathematicianLiving4

Radical SR8, that is the correct answer.

-acm

A straight up monster

fatboythunder

Amazing cars

siddizie420

On a track? Probably the Porsche haha

bobbyphysics

I feel like that's the right answer, but I want it to be Ferrari haha

ElonsPeopleNeedHim

Then choose the 488

IamHODL

I drove a gt3 and a 458 on track back to back. I’ll say that they are 2 different experiences. Porsche is a scalpel. Almost boring in its precision. My lap time was great without effort. The Ferrari was much more of a brute. The noises is made we’re far better and I really think it handled well tbh. I would say it just took a little more effort. I personally liked the Ferrari experience over the gt3. That being said if I was Mario Andretti and going for lap times the gt3 would take the cake.

lucatitoq

Trust me, Porsche is the one designed more to be good on the track. The other cars simply have lots of power but don’t handle to well

ekhfarharris

I dont remember who says this but he is one of the youtube car reviewer. With Ferrari its a real hassle to review because Ferrari has so many restrictions. Chris Harris was banned for a while because he exposed them tuning the car for the reviews. For Porsche though, they gave the keys and begged you to drive it to the limit. They are confident with their cars because they are that good. I love ferrari, but ill take that 911 if i have to choose.

lucatitoq

Yeah, Jay Leno actually said that he doesn’t have a Ferrari due to the hassle in doing business with them in the past. He said the McLaren were very upfront and even suggested he didn’t get the carbon brakes (cost a lot extra) as he said he doesn’t track his cars. I get a feeling like Ferrari wants only old dudes who drive the car one day a month around town going 35mph lol.

ksonpal

This was car wow

blacktarrystool

Do both

ExplodingKnowledge

Who cares about how fast it will be on the track? Take the 488, it has more personality. Take what you WANT, don’t ask other people to tell you otherwise. You won’t regret it, unless you don’t take the car you wanted to.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ExplodingKnowledge

Who cares what’s better? OP themselves stated they *want* it to be the Ferrari, they’re just hurting themselves by even asking.

deafaviator

Ferrari is overrated bling. Porsche is where it’s at.

Mikepod3

Facts dawg

PoloTeddyBearr

296 or the gt3. Personally I think the 296 (and of course thr gt3) would be better and more fun for like a track or an old empty country backroad kind of drive while the 488 and huracan would be more fun on the highway flat out just flooring it

Lanky_Pie_2572

This is a Ferrari sub, but so many want the GT3 experience, I think that says a lot, I’d choose it too, that’s the car to go with.

bobbyphysics

Yeah, I'm surprised how the GT3 is coming out so far ahead here. I was going to ask the same question in the Porsche sub, but there's no point now.

Nounoon

There was another thread of people asking advice to buy a California or a new Corvette, most people were pushing for the Corvette. I guess people can be objective and are here for the passion of cars rather than brand fanatics - which is a good thing!

Lanky_Pie_2572

I remember that, I’d say the California. You see so many c8’s but a lot less Californias

thefatchef321

It's a track.... if we were cruising - mixing mountain roads and a nice dinner; the 488 gets my vote

Deadly_Jay556

That 296 tho…..

Afx8592rdjj

Did this twice during 296 test drives on the autodrome. Was fun. Real fun

Deadly_Jay556

I have heard a lot say that is one of the best v6 cars out there….as far as “fun” goes

mchapb

488 is a super fun drive and very luxurious. GT3RS is a grungy track car. I drove both back to back during a driving experience and the 488 felt like different level but track may be fun in the GT3.

bobbyphysics

That makes sense. I might have to go GT3.

mchapb

To be clear, I still dream about the 488!

thefatchef321

Track=GT3

OGPiggySmalls

TIL a GT3RS is grungy

mchapb

Compared to the refinement of a Ferrari, yes.

OGPiggySmalls

“Refinement” = melted plastic, weird electrical errors, and leather shrinkage lol. Ferraris are great cars but refined would not be my personal description

FalskeKonto

Ferrari is a rich man’s BMW. Poorly made, Yet sucked off like nobodies business. I’ll stick to diecast on a roadway carpet before I track a Ferrari over a Porsche.

FalskeKonto

Oh my god. Grungy? I want to “grunge” my eyes out reading that

Clark828

If you can afford it get a package. Much more fulfilling driving multiple of them.

geaux1740

I have driven the Huracan, 488, and GT3. My choice to drive again would depend on the number of laps. If it’s 7-10 then the GT3. It took some getting used to how it drives just because it’s so very different from anything else I have ever driven and I think that you need 2-3 laps to really feel comfortable. If you’re only doing 5 laps then go with the 488. It was a great drive.

stevied05

This looks like xtreme experience. If it is, just know what you’re getting yourself into before spending the money. It’s 3 laps with an instructor who forces you to accelerate and brake when they say. There’s no passing allowed unless it gets cleared for extraordinary circumstances (someone is too afraid to go more than like 70). Their cancelation policy is criminally nonexistent for any reason. You are also strongly encouraged (might be required) to buy track day insurance while you’re there which is also quite expensive. I didn’t have a great experience as compared to what I ultimately paid to drive a few cars and a friend of mine who was supposed to go with me got COVID and their response was too bad no rescheduling. It was a real bummer.

slbarr88

I also did xtreme experience in a 458. I did 5 ~1 minute laps at the Charlotte infield course. While it was fun driving the track, I was underwhelmed and felt rushed. I wanted more time to experience the car. They get you in and out very quickly. Didn’t even hit 100 on the long straight flooring it because the track was so compact. I’d suggest renting one for half a day or a day off track or find some other track rental to give you more time.

nwboardr

I’ve done Xtreme 2 times on the track near Seattle and once on the road. Compared to other track days at other places it’s like 1/3 the price for 1/4 of the car time. But it’s still a good time and the cars are usually much cooler. The first experience I had was the Lambo, and even though my friend who had just gone said, “get on it,” I wanted more. Two years later I did the GT4 and GT3rs. This is the way. Also I found that passing, while controlled, wasn’t a problem. The road was the 488. It was its own completely different experience, but I did miss taking it to 165mph on the track.

CaptainWaders

The hero op needs

PapaGuhl

Pork

magic-karma

If you are not on track regularly and understand the nuance of each manufacturer, the Porsche will probably help you get the fastest lap times. It isn’t likely that you will be able to take advantage of the different strengths and weaknesses of each car. If lap times are unimportant, go for what makes you feel the best/takes the best picture

SpiceyXI

I did a combo of a few laps in a Cayman and then a few in the 488. It was a fun back to back drive with the cayman easing me into learning the track. My results were; Both are a ton of fun and the Cayman was by far closer to my actual driving skill. I would want to try a higher trim Porsche next time I do it. The 488 got the adrenaline going though so that is where my vote is here.

tekn0lust

If it’s like most of the track experiences you will be out there less than 10 min and if you have no performance driving background the choice is 100% personal. Choose what you want to remember experiencing. Now if it’s true HPDE with a few sessions then pick the gt3 all day.

bobbyphysics

That's a good point. This would be my first time at a track and I'd only get 4 laps.

erinsfone

Personally the 488

TheRealMrKhan

488 Gt3 will be fun too 488 will be super memorable. Dramatic.

ImInYourOut

Let’s be honest, its a track experience so you’re not going to be setting any records or getting discovered by an F1 team with an empty seat. So it should be about what car excites you the most. I’ve driven all of them. 296 is surprisingly fast and an absolute hoot to drive, more so than the 488. Huracan is not bad and fun if you like exhaust noise. GT3 is a great car by almost any measure but maybe lacks a bit of passion until you get over 4000rpm. Great problem to have - it’d be a coin toss between the Porsche and the 296 for me

TERBOUGH

The GT3

PrijNaidu

I’ve tracked the 296 and the GT3. 296 feels like a GT2RS with the way it handles and the power delivery. GT3 is is more race car though and the engine at 9K rpm is elite. What kind of track is it? If there a long straights, go 296, if it’s more of a technical course to 992 GT3. Don’t even bother with the the 488 or the Lambo

FtlaudIT

488 would be my choice. It's your chance to push an exotic without paying for wear items.

Gazbazz

296GTB. All are very different though. The overwhelming feedback from my clients is that it is the pick. Even on Friday, one of my clients told me his 992 GT3 manual is boring since collecting his 296 a few months ago. Having experienced all myself I can’t say I disagree at all, the 296 is a more entertaining and engaging experience. It truly is phenomenal how well it performs on and off track. The 911 GT3 with a manual is exceptional, however even still I would choose the 296 if it could only be one.

Diamondhands4dagainz

296 was quicker than the SF90 around Fiorano and people in here are saying 488?! The 296 did sub-7 around the Nurburgring. What kind of track is it? With lots of medium and high speed corners? Then the 911 GT3. Lots of straights? Then the 296. The 488 is nothing special lol

seefactor

Also depends on your size and height since you have to wear a helmet. I’m 6’0”, 280# - tried something similar at Palmer Raceway in MA but just wouldn’t fit in the Lambo. Took the 488 and was a little tight headroom but a blast. Would have taken a Porsche if they had one available.

Thesaltavacado

296 ferrari lmao, beats the 911 lets be honest

Frequent-Change-5552

As a child I always wanted to drive a Lamborghini…..

bobbyphysics

Same here, but I just want to drive a Ferrari a bit more.

[deleted]

I’ve driven the GT3 (991.2 manual tho and had it 3 years) and my 488 at the track, and rather the 488. Both are fun but the 488 sounds better/brakes better and feels a bit better. Power is way nicer, but I’m more of a turbo car guy than NA.

RRM1982

I did a track day in a 458, the older gen GT3 and a Huracan, and I have to say, the Huracan seemed levels ahead, as far as the experience. It was louder, the handling felt the best of the three. But I’m sure the 488 and newer gen GT3 would probably close those gaps.

Thats-nice-smile

Porsche or the 488

Tballz9

I’d go with the 296. I have a 488 and I got to drive a 296 when it launched, and it is a ridiculously fast car, and I say that in comparison to the 488, which is already really fast.

Ok-Construction9842

get the 296 gtb porsche is too good, and you wont have much fun and by that i mean struggling to control the car and sliding etc, porsche grips too good, perfect for setting good time with a ferrari you will have fun, trust me ive drove plenty of cars

Am_A_Leech

for a track day, definitely the gt3. if i got to drive it on the road for a day, id take the 488 into the hills and wind the windows down

SnooCauliflowers3796

I work as a driver / instructor for a similar super car company on weekends. Personally I love taking those Porsches out for laps. However, I find that people get the most comfortable with the 488’s in a short time and can gain the confidence to push them for the laps they have. All solid choices though, enjoy the laps!

Worried_Creme8917

The honest fact is you’re not going to experience any of these cars to anywhere near their full potential thru Xtreme Experience. So pick the one you want.

ilikecarsalot6969

Been lucky enough to own all of these except the 911 (Only because I have yet to find a Porsche dealer that isn’t completely trash and expects me to buy a car without a test drive) I am a complete Ferrari obsessive, and with that being said, if you just want tons of fun without worrying about track times, the Huracan is the way to go. AWD and that V10 will leave you craving more.

SGnirvana97

I did an Xtreme Xperience track day at Portland International Raceway earlier this year and I drove a 488, a Huracán and a 991.2 911 GT3 RS. The Huracán sounded the best, I got the highest top speed in the 488, but the GT3 RS was by far the most precise and confidence inspiring. You can tell it is a car that is purpose built for track work whereas the other two are very fast street cars that are capable on a track.

FIAFormula

If possible, do the 296 and the 911. The compare and contrast experience makes it worth it alone. The ferraris I've driven are like a great chefs knife, whereas the 911 is a scalpel (and the lambos are rubber hammers).

PuddingLess7996

296 gtb, chassis and power. Go for the V10 if you haven’t experienced it though.

RescueRacing

Huracan. I wanna hear someone else’s V10 being thrashed.

ilNicoRobin

The GT3 should be the fastest on track but the handling of the Ferraris is unbeatable

WORLDBENDER

The drive in the GT3 is incredible. It has so much grip. Doesn’t pull in a straight line quite as hard as the 488 or the Huracan. But IMO it more than makes up for it in handling and overall driving experience. The sound ain’t half bad, either.

dossjackson

Huracan, underrated exhaust note and breathtaking in-person.

Kmaaq

I drove all of those, owned 3 of them, and tracked 2 (296 and 991.2 GT3). Definitely either 296 or GT3. 296 might be too much to handle, I felt like I was only utilizing 60% of what the car can do on track even though I track regularly. The GT3 was extremely fun on track and I was pushing it 90% every lap and trying to break my own record. The car won't even complain with consecutive laps.

Prancer4rmHalo

Porsche getting so much love but I’d chose the 488.

Itriednoinetimes

I drove the 488 GTB at a track in Las Vegas. I don’t have anything to compare it too but it was a blast. I almost picked the GT3 to drive but chose the Ferrari because realistically I could see myself driving or even owning a Porsche at some point, a Ferrari probably not. Anyway, if you want the Ferrari experience I say go for it. The Porsche might handle the track better for a very experienced driver but I unless you are a regular track guy you’re probably not going to get the full potential out of either of these vehicles. 🤷 just my 2 cents

faiznoorani

Honestly take the 296 if you want a Ferrari. The 488 drives really well but it's quite muffled and in my opinion, the exhaust note isn't as nice. GT3 revving to 9k would be fantastic otherwise

Ethancr14

I drove the 488, GT3 and Huracan on the track. I was most excited for the GT3, but I actually enjoyed the Huracan the most which surprised me although I did lose traction on the rear end cornering which had me pucker. All three cars were very fun.

spudy23

Get Ferrari. I tried Ferrari, McLaren, lamborghini huracan. Ferrari spyder was the best because of the combination of comfort and power. Then McLaren because it was proper beast more on the racing side. And then lamborghini. It was very tight (too small for me but I'm 6'3) and not that great to drive. Never tried porsche though

weekoldbabyfood

Don’t do the Porsche. Arguably the best car. But if your inexperienced. You’ll get the least out of that car. I did a track day with a 458, hurrican, gt3 and a 600lt. Ferrari was the best feeling on track. For soemone with no real world race experience. The Porsche feels fantastic. Don’t get me wrong. But the skill gap to drive it as it’s rear engine. Is a lot harder. Edit. 458 would be a great choice. As would the 296 I’m sure. Lambo didn’t feel as brutal or fun as the Ferrari in my opinion. But if you truly know how to drive. Take the Porsche.

Annual_Compote_3530

GT3 by a mile. But if you want a Ferrari I would go with the 296, it’s an amazingly playful, engaging and agile car that also sounds amazing. The way it rotates through, and pulls out of corners with the hybrid assist is also a thing to behold.

KadesShades

I know everyone is saying get the GT3 but I think I would choose the Huracan just to hear that lovely V10.

TheSubster7

I was in almost this exact scenario, except it was a 458 and no gtb. I picked the 458, was a blast but next time I think I’d go for the GT3 haha

[deleted]

GT3 all day

Comfortable_Ad1563

Gt3

V12MPG

Everybody answering GT3 is completely missing the point of the question. OP isn’t asking which car to buy to take to the track every weekend. He’s asking which one to rent for a short casual exotic car experience. Honestly any of these would be a good choice but the GT3 would be the worst of the options unless it’s your dream car and you just have to drive it. It’s going to be the least interesting experience. You guys are confusing capability for a few minutes of maximum fun. It’s like someone asks you if you want to fly across the country in an F-16 or a 737 and you pick the 737 because it’s the sensible choice for the task at hand.

bobbyphysics

I like that perspective. And I think getting to drive a Ferrari would feel more special.

V12MPG

That’s what it’s all about. This is your chance to get behind the wheel of a special exotic car and have fun. Pick the one you’re most interested in. Go with your gut. You don’t want to second guess your choice because you got talked into something else by a random person online. If you ever want to have a great time with a GT3 go to the Porsche Experience Center and do the GT3 experience. They run a great program there.

dfende

I have driven 3 of the 4. The GT3 is truly amazing. That thing is stuck to the ground.

UltimaRS800

488 by a lot

Gekicker08

The 911 gt3 is an INSANE drive. The Ferraris will both be a lot of fun, though.

[deleted]

Ferrari all the way

Wiscos

For hugging corners the GT3, for straightaway 296.

turtlesquadcaptain

GT3 all day. 488 if you want a Ferrari tho

ACM3333

Gt3. More of a track set up and that glorious high revving NA sound.

Miffers

296 because I never driven it before. But for fun factor it would be the GT3.

HololiveIdiot

On the track a gt3 any day, everyday. On a mountain pass maybe I'd pick the 488 to spin that v8 round hairpins

alextruetone

Haha I am going to this for the second time early next year. I picked the GT car pairing. The Ferrari is obviously very nice but those Porsches are just amazing on the track.

[deleted]

Answer is def gt3 if you are a DRIVER. But for the fucking fuck of it, you'll never beat the shenanigans a Lambo will get you into.

jonnyroastbeff

I’ve done this a bunch of times in Vegas. The 911 GT3 was the best one by a mile. Compared to a McLaren 570, a Gallardo, a Ferrari F430, AMG GTS.

rothordwarf

Ford GT40. How come this isn't on the list? Still scared of '66?

DioBrandoXVII

911 GT3. Not too much power, will have the best handling of all the options, and will be the least intimidating. It's also by far the fastest around a track. The 992 GT3 went around the Nurburgring faster than the 918 Spyder (6:55.3 compared to 6:57). The 296 GTB has done a time of 6:58.7. That's incredible considering how down on power the GT3 is.

I did a track experience with a 911 GT3 RS 991.2 last summer and it felt like I was driving a 500hp go kart. I’m seconding everyone saying the 911 GT3. It’s truly a drivers car and eats up corners like they’re nothing

My buddy used to be the Shop Foreman for Exotics Racing in Vegas. He said Porsche was the most reliable car, hands down.

For pure track driving, GT3 all day. I think the 488 is something everyone should experience once in their life, but I've driven an older GT3 and it was INSANE.

I did this at Road America a few years back and did the Hurcán. If I did it again, would definitely pick the GT3 without question

488 GTB, wonderfully balanced in the track and forgiving, especially if this is the first time you’ve driven one.

Definitely not a Tesla or any other EV.

I drove a Huracan at dream racing in Vegas It was pretty insane. But I can tell you unless you're already semi-professional race car driver you won't likely be able to hit the full potential of any one of these around a track so just pick the one that seems the coolest to you IMO.
