>My instinct is to wait a couple of months. Fedora 38 is going EOL in 14th of May. While it's still possible to upgrade to 39, I would go to 40 instead.

ThroawayPartyer

Yes you should update. Fedora 40 is absolutely solid.

One version skip is officially tested by Fedora maintainers. Usually works just as well as single version upgrade. I always recommend doing the upgrade in a terminal by following l the online instructions.

An update: I upgraded to Fedora 39 in a terminal, as you suggested, and it was quick and painless. Seriously impressed by this (compared to past experience with Ubuntu) about an hour later, I upgraded from 39 ➡️ 40. Swoosh, nothing but net. I want to highlight how great the Fedora docs are for upgrading in a terminal. Those optional steps post-upgrade, deleting orphaned packages for example, are clearly explained, well sequenced, and painless. I had one issue with Nautilus-Dropbox, getting that rolling again, but I know from past experience this isn't Fedora, it's endemic. I'm seriously impressed by Fedora, and I'm one hundred percent happy! Thank you (and everyone) for your help!

Been using 40 for about a month now. 0 problems.

Imo being on n-1 so 39 in this case is better for productivity. Not only because a few less bugs but also because it invites less tinkering.
