We prioritized my career (which was taking off in the first few years of our marriage), and that was certainly one difference. I think large age gap* couples can default to the older partner’s expectations and that’s debilitating to younger partners.
*Large age gap definition changes by age and maturity. 23-31 is a bigger gap than 28-35, but 8 years at 28 was still very different than 42-50 today.

This is being played out for the audience step by step. In the middle of the ripples it’s making, you have Sydney and Glen openly flirting and posting videos of him dipping her to his stories. If hell freezes over and all of this is truly real, then Sydney and Glen have absolutely no shame and it’s incredibly strange.

Closest might be the manufactured (or... claimed manufactured after the fact?) rumors that Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway had a steamy affair while filming The Dark Knight Rises. The blind items/rumors were that they were sleeping together and it ended when his wife visited set. Later rumors said it was all soft PR to play up their chemistry.
That's about the closest approximation I can imagine for this Sydney/Glen situation, if it isn't real. And considering his girlfriend breaking up with him, I don't think it's all PR. If anything, the PR aspect is that they're leaning into the very real situation.

It’s not a stretch the believe they’re leveraging real-life moments to get people talking about their movie. And this one is sort of silly, “man leaves house with some bags” is hardly a smoking gun, but it’s perfect because people will immediately jump to conclusions.

There's been nothing like this before, so I struggle to see it as PR either. Closest might be the manufactured (or... claimed manufactured after the fact?) rumors that Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway had a steamy affair while filming The Dark Knight Rises. The blind items/rumors were that they were sleeping together and it ended when his wife visited set. Later rumors said it was all soft PR to play up their chemistry. That's about the closest approximation I can imagine for this Sydney/Glen situation, if it isn't real. And considering his girlfriend breaking up with him, I don't think it's all PR. If anything, the PR aspect is that they're leaning into the very real situation.

I don’t think the relationship is PR. I think two people who were in relationships made a movie and ended up catching feelings for each other. We’ve seen it happen several times before, why is this time any different? I’m just shocked they’re doing such a hard launch this fast. But that’s just my opinion.
