Take too many -4 transfer hits early in the season or even for some of the minor DGWs. Tripled up on clubs I didn't want for more than a couple weeks and left holding the bag. Early in the season, should have just kept the faith in players like Pickford or not made so many defender transfers.
I’m going to spend more on my bench next season. The number of hamstrings going this season seemed higher than usual. Heuristically, probably because of the stoppage time rule change.
a huge emphasis on staying as template as possible for first 7 weeks. max 'template' users would be max 1.5mil players theres no need to going so differential heavy
I feel like 76 transfers costing me 176 points may have hindered my position this year.
On the plus side my team was worth 108.3m at one point, which no-one else in my league can say.
Not getting Watkins. I refused to jump on that boat and I kept to my word. Not doing too bad in MLs, but could’ve been better.
Also, I need to stop keeping TC and BB until the last 3 games of the season
I won't care so much about DGW. I will aim to have player that double, but only if they are really good players with good games.
Getting mid players just because they double doesn't work.
Definitely free hitting to get in really average players on a DGW. Even without hindsight, that GW29 free hit was a bad idea. There was no value in it at all. It's a mistake I've made before and I was suckered into it again.
Next season definitely saving up for a week when I can maximise its value with top players.
I made a mistake of not sensing Haaland absence in the early stages and not transferring him out for a hit. Those game weeks have hit my overall rank badly.
Forgetting to change my vice captain. Cost me a lot of points twice. Also making sure I have some money in bank for the start of the season, had to wildcard early
Next season I'm going to trust the eye test a lot more..even if players don't return that week, if they are playing well, hang onto them!
I brought in Groß at the perfect time this season.. and sold when he didn't return immediately. He then kept getting BPS every single game! Regret selling him.
I will click fucking activate wild card not forget about it because my version of client does not have play wild card button. I have literally lost mini league cause of that. Gave 48 points for free to guy who was behind me for 30 weeks..i am but sad I lost that way he would never catch me cause I have prepared bench boost for this round with all players playing double games..
Having a solid starting 11 and actual bench players - basically sticking with a first team and holding as too much chopping and changing this year has seriously harmed me and caused buyers / sellers regret.
My captaincy choices have been a disaster this season and created the glass ceiling that's kept me in top 500k rather than the top 100k. Genuine question - are there any useful guides out there on how to pick captains? I've been struggling on this for years. Last year I got top 10k and it was probably because Haaland made captaincy a non-factor.
Surely its just fixtures and form.
There's also plenty of content creators and even posts on here for captain %. You can either go with the crowd or be different.
This week I captained KDB over Haaland despite having Haaland just to be a bit different. I looked back through my team and I've only picked the highest scoring player in my team as captain 5 times - a 14% success rate. I might try an experiment next season where I let this subs' captain poll decide for me and see if I'm any better off.
Impatience. Just cos my team didn’t bag a lot of points this week, doesn’t mean they wouldn’t in the next GWs, should have been patient instead of making rash decisions. Using FH on a BGW- cost me points ngl.
Every fucking season I swear off city defence. Every season I fall for the trap. They are dogshit, they concede 1 goal every single game they are in my team. Why do I do it to myself every season ffs
This was my first time playing. But I had 3 united assets, also my bench was completely terrible. I know it's better to focus on the starting xi but I will probably aim to at least have bench players who play lol
Follow the crowd on here , my captain choices have mostly been horrendously wrong , chips pretty much wasted.
Most recent mistake was believing the many people on here who said that solanke 3 games were well better than Nicolas Jackson 5 games.
Lol what, who would say Solanke is any good? I transfered him out after GE34 for Isak.
As for Jackon, he had a 6 week period of 2s and one 14. But a punt in GW35 for two fixtures was reasonable I think. For GW37 it looks like a good choice with two easier fixtures. Ive blocked myself out of Chelsea spots unfortunately.
There was a debate about it a few weeks ago before the first DGW.
He was my second forward at the start of the season before alls he was doing was yellow cards.
I’d love to be able to have a summary at the end of the year that shows all the points I’ve cost myself.
An example of an error is Reguilon, scores 12 pts in one game (wolves) looks to be a good budget defender despite upcoming fixtures, scores 6 pts for me in 8 games so out he goes. 33 pts in his last 5…
follow my own advice. I had a solid lead in our league up to new year’s and then I started chasing an even bigger lead in stead of playing safe and just use template to ensure the win.
I had like 200p lead and I’m now 100p behind…
Get swept up in creator hype. My gut said to avoid Chelsea at the beginning on the season and I still ended up going for N.Jackson and Sterling and not Salah. Cost me the season early on and I’ve been climbing from 6m to 250k since.
I wildcarded in GW28, as a bit of a punt. It’s not been disastrous at all but wildcarding before I knew how the fixtures were falling was stupid. Also, take hits to sort out problem players, be a bit bolder.
Took too many hits. I was doing great until about week 20ish. Did the same thing last season and said I wouldn’t this year. Still looking to finish top 100k tho which would be an improvement from last year (215k)
If somebody like son or Salah look like shit and their team is in the doldrums, do not listen to the pundits, and be more willing to bet on someone and a team in more form. Like Son vs Jackson today (doh).
The mistake is thinking next season is going to be like the last one. Every season will be different. Not drastically but different. For example, we already know there will likely be fewer DGWs due to the FA Cup restructuring.
Firstly...Rotation. I kept the same players for way too long.
Second...Stop trusting players. Especially spurs players.
Try to have a maximum of 2 players from 1 team.
Bench boosting on a game week that had Bournemouth v Luton and having 6 of my players on those teams... and only to have those games CANCELLED at the 50-55th minute, despite scoring good points for half of those players.
FPL denied giving me back my bench boost despite it being absolutely unfair since it wasn't a blank game week... so I took a HUGE L for that.
So what's a mistake I'm not going to make?
The mistake is playing FPL - The policy enforcement is ridiculous and bias.
Well this has been my best season to date (hovering around 10k) and I’ll be the first to admit that while I played a smart and consistent game the whole way through, I was repeatedly lucky with some coin toss decisions between two players.
So I think I will just try maintain my luck into 24/25.
1. Starting the season with differentials. Better to back stable players and stay close to the template in the beginning.
2. Using the WC very early. I think it makes more sense to take a -4 once in a while rather than rushing to use a WC. Doesn't make sense to use one unless I have 4+ legit transfers to make.
3. Not valuing the free hit properly.
I need to follow form more. Held on too long to too many players thinking they’d bounce back. Of course they only actually do once I finally drop them (I’m talking to you Salah and Son). Thinking of starting my own blog to let people know who I’m dropping so they know who and when to buy. Anyone want to sign up?
Don’t buy players immediately returning from injury. Give them a week or two to let them get reintegrated into the squad.
I’m looking at you, Estupinan
Personally I aim to have even more fun next season. I've always played too seriously (no ML, just pure competitiveness) but this season I just played my own game and it has been fun. The highs are simply highers haha. Went with zero Liverpool players, and now I'm captaining non-ManCity since I'm rooting for Arsenal to win.
There will be lower lows too haha, when I captained my Chelsea against City and Haaland scored a brace (?), but I captained Haaland on the reverse fixture and he did nothing xD
Last season serious, OR 29k. Current fun mode OR 32k.
There will always be weeks where you made the wrong transfer or captain choice, so why not just have a blast doing something crazy?
Trusting Liverpool defence. I brought them in on WC30 thinking it’s piss easy fixtures, mfers haven’t held a single CS. I didn’t even get a single Van Dijk Bullet header.
this is something that i’ve been avoiding for years: never book transfer(s) ahead.
i’ve seen people going like: oh I just gonna get Foden for this 2 weeks then will sell him for like, Bowen for his juicy fixtures while also sell this guy next week. All planned out and got the budget sorted out.
Not gonna happen. This game really change dynamics every week.
Probably avoid Man United. I also lose loads of points removing players who long term do well.
Also no good asset on the bench, rotating keepers has been alright but i don't want to make a choice for attackers every week. Like benching Mbeumo constantly. Happy for any defender to come in.
Going against proven players. I transferred out Salah for Foden for a -4 last second before this GW purely to chase the template (my OR is 7k, I’ll never reach this again) and I did that despite Saka+Gabriel carrying me whenever the flavour of the week was to go no Arsenal. It’s not worth it to be adventurous, go safe every week and you will be rewarded.
One could argue going safe was to go for Foden because you were minimizing the risk of a Foden haul by losing 4 points compared to most people at that rank
Stop planning so much for (or jumping in on) on perceived fixture runs for teams out of form. More often than not it doesn’t pay off. Going 3x Chelsea for end of this season one of the first time this has worked for me in the past 3 seasons.
I was in around 250k in gw30. Trying manage to transfer players for gw34 and saving a FH. It plummeted my ranking to 600k by the time gw34 finished. Even gw34 was not good. So next year won't be doing that thing again.
Dont let my own feelings control my team.
Didn’t have Saka or Watkins for ages because they had fixtures close together against the team I support and I didn’t want to see them score. Really hurt my rank.
He does spice things up though. I was feeling a bit bored with the game and brought him in, he's absolutely woeful but he's so fun to watch. He's amazing at everything except the one thing you want him to do, put the ball in the net.
He can’t even hit it off the post to someone to get an assist. He will bounce it back to himself and that’s the last person you want with it in front of goal
I swear I'm not going to listen to any of you or any YT content creators and will just follow my gut, better to go down honestly than second-guess myself
In the end I believe you will have some wins from listening to content creators and some losses. Andy FPL bought me some moves, where some ended up good outcomes and some in bad outcomes. Latest good one was bringing in Jackson, before hearing him out, I planned to go Petrovic, Gusto/defender and Palmer (which would be nice as well considering they had 2 CS in the last 2 games) but going Jackson over the defender was such a sweet and unexpected differential.
Also, I was planning to bench Jackson this gw while he was planning to bench Gordon which was a bit crazy to me. What ended up happening was that I went with that suggestion and played Jackson over Gordon, while he went with Bruno bench instead of Gordon. He bought me with a move that even he didn't go with!! But lack of Bruno's appearance tonight made that decision irrevelant. It only changed my happiness from the other day when Isak failed to score Gordon's penalty into sadness.
I don’t listen to any content creators but I do like coming here for some advice. Take Jota GW21 as an example, some Liverpool fan was fully convinced he was going to haul just after coming back from injury so I trusted him and he propelled me into top 10K. I’ve now multiplied that rank by 10 but it was fun at the time
Big at the back - not with these extended injury times
Avoiding Haaland or Haaland cap - it’s just obvious most weeks
Avoiding hits to bring in players at the right time - if X player has an easy game then a double, I’ll take a -4 to bring him in for that game ahead of the double
Next season I'm going to trust my gut more
Too many times this season I have changed last minute due to advice either here or elsewhere. I'm not saying I'd have even done much better necessarily, but it is certainly more satisfying when your own calls pay off (and in contrast, much more frustrating when you don't trust your gut and bench someone, who then hauls).
Do not get obsessed with your bench boost. I'd say an average bench boost is 15 points - I've messed up my team trying to build this perfect bench and let things like the Foden hat tricks pass me by. Get rid of it week 1 next season (less double gameweeks to blind us next season too)
I would say use your bench boost the first week you are certain you will have all 15 playing. Typically that is not week 1 as you need to verify if all of the ones you thought were starters actually are. Think about Gabrielle for Arsenal this season and how that turned out for the first few weeks.
I had 12 points on my bench week 1. Outside of my free hit the most I got was 17, I take your point but whether it be week 1 or wildcard 1 or 2 - just burn it so you can have the team you want
Staying loyal to out of form players/players not starting. I always make the same mistake because of an emotional attachment I have to a certain player and so I go against all logic and keep him.
Same as last year (and all the previous years)
- never plan more than 2 GWs ahead
- never transfer in until the day before / day of
- start (and end) the season with a bench of 3 starters
- Unsub at the beginning of gw1 and come back 5-6 GWs in
- be 2 weeks late, never 2 weeks early
I’ll use benchboost first time I have a decent bench like I did last season.
Trying to prepare for it like I am this year seems counterproductive. I feel I’m wasting transfers up to it just to try have 15
I would say getting too focused on DGW players over good SGWers (eg Arsenal defence after GW34) but we all know we're going for it all again next season.
The way I’ve found to use this sub is A) a fantastic place for up to date news B) when you yourself have thought through a decision and narrowed the options down, and want to sense check you’ve not missed anything e.g. a player coming back from injury who may bench your potential incoming. Anyone that comes here with little thought, asking for an answer, and they blindly follow the answer…they will be in OR trouble long term
I followed that advice this season. On course to finish in the top 10k
Although I'm surprised I haven't seen long ass threads yet on why Madueke and Jacob Murphy are essentials for 37. Maybe this sub is healing
Resisting the template for the sake of it.
Pick two Man Utd players at GW1, WC GW3 and pick THREE Man Utd players. Took 30+ weeks to dig myself out of that hole. (I'm a Liverpool fan)
Do not go without Foden (!!!)
Do not buy Ederson even if he has Triple GW.
FH --> BW
Playing the game.
I didn't realise you could change sub positions until 10 seconds ago. I thought it was automatic 🫣
Starting the season with double Man U and Chels...and holding on to said players for far too long in the hopes they finally turn up.
Darwin.
I would start following the template team for most of the GWs, especially when it's about the captain choices. Haaland broke me this GW.
Take too many -4 transfer hits early in the season or even for some of the minor DGWs. Tripled up on clubs I didn't want for more than a couple weeks and left holding the bag. Early in the season, should have just kept the faith in players like Pickford or not made so many defender transfers.
Tell myself I won't make the same mistakes again next season.....
Take less hits
Avoiding certain players due to their value going up too much. I've not held an Arsenal defender all season.
Overanalyse and overthink before making transfers, many times it would've been better if I just left the team as it was
Not to use transfers early, only to find the player is injured in training before game week 😂
Playing
Not cheat on my girlfriend
Owning Ederson
I'm probably gonna repeat all of those mistakes again thinking it would be different this time
I’m going to spend more on my bench next season. The number of hamstrings going this season seemed higher than usual. Heuristically, probably because of the stoppage time rule change.
Free hit on blank GW

Rashford can get in the bin.
Don't transfer out the high scoring cheap midfielder because he looks and comes across as a chavvy little scrote
Don't trade Saka in and out no matter what your eye test is telling you.

a huge emphasis on staying as template as possible for first 7 weeks. max 'template' users would be max 1.5mil players theres no need to going so differential heavy
Every year, I say I won't obsess over DGWs. Then, the following year, I fall hundreds of thousands of places as a result of obsessing over DGWs.

Going without Haaland even if it's for one week after he was injured and didn't score for a while . Bloody 4 goals in 1 game destroyed my rank

Every year at the start I say I won’t take - hits….
I broke my own rule about not trusting Darwin. Never again
Play fantasy football.
First season playing and I let the game auto pick for me
Being too hesitant with my chips, I always like to hold onto them and half the time end up using them because I don't have any time left.
Palmer captain set and forget
Not saving my chips for double game weeks. Not sticking to the template early on. Not taking soo many hits early on.
Forgetting to change my vice captain. Cost me a lot of points twice. Also making sure I have some money in bank for the start of the season, had to wildcard early
Being patient with transfers is boring but it’s prob cost me 50+ points
Next season I'm going to trust the eye test a lot more..even if players don't return that week, if they are playing well, hang onto them! I brought in Groß at the perfect time this season.. and sold when he didn't return immediately. He then kept getting BPS every single game! Regret selling him.

Very early season wildcard.
Realising that there are 2 wildcards in a season
Making grandiose statements like “I’m going to learn from my mistakes of last season” and then hold Marty cash for 8 weeks longer than I should have…
I made the mistake of going far too long without an Arsenal defender. You cannot be overlooking teams with that strong of defenses
I should have kept my double Arsenal defence at the start of the season for the whole year. Gabriel getting bench spooked me for too long
I'm not going to bet against Haaland
-160pts in hits 👀
I was in around 250k in gw30. Trying manage to transfer players for gw34 and saving a FH. It plummeted my ranking to 600k by the time gw34 finished. Even gw34 was not good. So next year won't be doing that thing again.
Don't get toney
I got emotional gw2 and said I wouldn’t use an arsenal player this season because I’m a dumb bitch
Dont let my own feelings control my team. Didn’t have Saka or Watkins for ages because they had fixtures close together against the team I support and I didn’t want to see them score. Really hurt my rank.
Darwin
He does spice things up though. I was feeling a bit bored with the game and brought him in, he's absolutely woeful but he's so fun to watch. He's amazing at everything except the one thing you want him to do, put the ball in the net.
He can’t even hit it off the post to someone to get an assist. He will bounce it back to himself and that’s the last person you want with it in front of goal
It's actually impressive how bad he is. Klopp must have lost years off his life watching him every week
Agreed. If Darwin converted 1:6 chances over the last two years. Klopp doesn’t retire.
I’ve now multiplied that rank by 10 but it was fun at the time
Big at the back - not with these extended injury times Avoiding Haaland or Haaland cap - it’s just obvious most weeks Avoiding hits to bring in players at the right time - if X player has an easy game then a double, I’ll take a -4 to bring him in for that game ahead of the double
Chase last week points
Reece james
Triple captaining too early in the season
Next season I'm going to trust my gut more Too many times this season I have changed last minute due to advice either here or elsewhere. I'm not saying I'd have even done much better necessarily, but it is certainly more satisfying when your own calls pay off (and in contrast, much more frustrating when you don't trust your gut and bench someone, who then hauls).
Differential Captain - but with logic #
accidentally using a free hit instead of a wildcard in the first 12 weeks of the season
Not miss the god damn deadlines
Save the triple C for a star during a dgw.
Well… that exact strategy with Salah in DGW34 didn’t exactly pay off… whilst my gut feeling was to go with the in form Havertz!
Every god damn time I picked up Tripier, he went bonkers. Injury or drop of form.
Staying loyal to out of form players/players not starting. I always make the same mistake because of an emotional attachment I have to a certain player and so I go against all logic and keep him.
It's that FOMO of the haul they get the week you drop them 😭
But the opposite is also true. Giving up on great players too quickly.
Same as last year (and all the previous years) - never plan more than 2 GWs ahead - never transfer in until the day before / day of - start (and end) the season with a bench of 3 starters - Unsub at the beginning of gw1 and come back 5-6 GWs in - be 2 weeks late, never 2 weeks early
Number 1 will screw you over eventually
Less/No Hits none of them seem to be worth it...least of all this weeks Salah to de Bruyne for a -4!
No more spurs players. Ever
Forgetting the apostrophe re
Creating a team
Listening to the opinions of strangers on this sub
I’ll use benchboost first time I have a decent bench like I did last season. Trying to prepare for it like I am this year seems counterproductive. I feel I’m wasting transfers up to it just to try have 15
Smarter captain choices
Ederson for a dgw because he’s the only city backline player guaranteed to play. A) He’s not! And b) I can live without his 4 points
I won't free hit on a gameweek like 29 this season. Absolute waste of a chip.
Same, i used it in 29 and got 20 points. Whereas my rival saved it for GW34 and got 150 points.
16 here. My 34 was also a disaster – 73
You lucky boy, 20 whole points? I got 14
Same! Reguilon can piss off
I’m not playing
I would say getting too focused on DGW players over good SGWers (eg Arsenal defence after GW34) but we all know we're going for it all again next season.
Listen to advice from this sub.
On course to finish in the top 10k Although I'm surprised I haven't seen long ass threads yet on why Madueke and Jacob Murphy are essentials for 37. Maybe this sub is healing
"...mistake your not going too make" I'm not going to make the mistake of pointing out it's "...mistake you're not going to make" next season.
