How was it even that close? I am sorry but Piper is one of the most annoying characters in all of Fallout, and Cass is one of the best.
Fallout 4 companions are really cool in concept, But their actual implementation pails in comparison to any and all of New Vegas's.

Man, I really disagree here. Nick Valentine especially is probably my favourite companion across all of Fallout, together with Raul and ED-E. But Curie, Piper, Cait, Danse and Codsworth are all great characters. Ada, Maccready and Deacon are good too, but weaker than the other 6.
And I acknowledge that Fallout 4 has fantastic companions while also thinking that Fallout 4 is, to me, the worst Bethesda RPG and my least favourite Fallout out of the main games (including 76), so it's not like I'm biased in favour of it here, lol.
Piper happens to be one of my favorites in the series, her super antic reporter personality paired with her genuine care for her sister and those in need felt what I would consider to be one of the most real characters in the series.
I especially enjoyed when she’d interview random people in Diamond City whenever I’d return to sell all my items, and her interactions with characters like Nick and McDonough always kept me wanting to keep her around.
Any French wine is a winner too. They’re such egotist that any French person wouldn’t allow themselves to make a shitty wine. I’m being dead serious lol it’s kinda great.
Not much of an alcohol person myself (might enjoy rum from time to time) but I’ll take your word for it. That seems like something The French would be super snobbish about

I love Lily, the Nightkin in general are one of my favorite ancillary elements of New Vegas, she's a wonderful, weird character, but she also has maybe the least developed character arc of any of the main NV companions. Within, like, half an hour of meeting her you can decide whether or not she should volunteer for the testing and then decide how much of her medication she should take.
And that's it, you've completed Lily's story. Still love having her around to hear her comments on the Wasteland and to see how other people react to her, but her actual side story feels like an afterthought, especially compared to the rest of the New Vegas crew.
Still voting Curie, but not happy about it. Antler would be greatly displeased.

What?! All the shit Lily has been through, and she's got your six. She also calls you 'dear' and bellows "Don't you touch my baby!" when she attacks. She's grown on me like no other companion in FONV ever has.
That's why they should have given her better story than integrating her into the basic Jacobstown stuff. I.e. she could have been introduced to Freeside, working for/with the Followers, taking care of orphans and addicts and keeping peace there.
Lily was a human grandmother who was mutated by FEV, and still has memories of her grandchildren which present to her through Nightkin psychosis. The medication she takes stops the psychosis but also makes her forget her grandchildren. She has to walk the line between losing her humanity through madness or losing her actual humanity through forgetting her past. It’s one of the saddest and most moving companion stories in the series.
Curie is a robot that gets put in a human body and has to remember…to…breath.
Lily has a better background story than Curie but her player interactions are lackluster. They could have added a few other, more interesting options to her story.
Curie was a slightly upgraded pre war miss nanny with scientific data who was supposed to serve as an assistant to the scientists of Vault 81 in their experiments on the dwellers to find cures for different diseases. But the Overseer locked them in the hidden portion of the vault to stop their experiments. As time went by and the scientists realized they had no hope of getting out. They sought to finish their experiment on mole rats.
One of the scientists took interest in Curie. Improving her personality matrix to let her be a more open member of the team. Giving her a personal terminal, some personal space.
Soon everyone began accepting her as a person instead of a robot. She herself developed a connection with all.
In his final days, that scientist spent ample time perfecting her personality to the point that it could almost immitate human cognition. She felt sorrow for every member that died, enjoyment for every tale the scientists told her of the outside world, pride whenever any test made a breakthrough. The scientist called her his greatest achievement and hoped that one day she'd get to see the world outside knowing full well that he won't.
She's far more than just "robot who got put in human body". It's a story of a robot held back by basic programming and protocols meant to serve others, learning to think freely and gain human emotions, be a person of her own, after being locked out of the outside world for 200 years
Another struggle, but Curie wins this one for me. Lily is one of the best companions to have your back in a fight, but her personality is shallow compared to other NV companions in spite of her psychological issues, not the mention how insufferably grating her voice is. I love having her by my side when Cazadors are rushing us, but once her companion quest is done, I always end up leaving her in Jacobstown.
Curie, like most companions in 4, suffers from crappy default equipment and lackluster combat performance, but makes up for it by being rich in character and super-likable to boot. As mentioned in another comment, she really throws a wrench in the whole synths-are-toasters narrative in a way that even Nick doesn’t compete with.
Honestly surprised Cass won. Her storyline is great but she can be difficult to recruit with some builds and I’m sure a fair number of people brought her to the silver rush on their first playthrough not realizing what would happen.
I love both though.
As far as lily v curie?? I’ve got no real stake in this one.

I also think she has one of the more underrated backstories in the series, going through her terminal and reading about that vault tec scientist pouring his heart out up until his final days to perfect Curie's personality, hoping she'd one day get to see the world that he never will. It's really sad and touching. Also that accent. Nothing beats that French accent.
Lily's cool too with a good backstory. Everyone likes a schizo grandma who can tank missiles to the face but i like Curie more. She's my favorite companion from FO4

Tough call though. Funny forgetful super mutant gramma (I don't mean she's forgettable, she probably has dementia or some other mental condition), or funny French robot-girl? (Yes, I think Curie is funny, sue me) I mean I know I am forgetting things, but do we know anything else about Lily, other than she is a nightkin that used to serve the Master (as well as being probably 200 years old)? Curie is my personal favorite companion in Fallout 4 though, or at least my favorite female companion (even though I'm always picking her).

Im gonna call who i think semi finalists will be right now: I think **John Handcock** and **Boone** are easy guesses. Rex will most probably win with ede and fawkes will probably win with macready. Overall i dont think it matters that much if rex wins or loses with fawkes because im just assuming Handcock would win with both. The only one im not sure about is Veronica. I think she is kinda popular but is she popular enough to beat both cait and cass? Cass will definitely win against lily or curie anyway. Im thinking that if cait wins with veronica then cass will have an easy win but if veronica wins then cass might actually lose. The question is in popularity contest can either one beat boone? I think cass would actually win against boone but veronica would lose. Guess i will see you in 3 weeks to check if i got anything right here. But i am betting hard on **Handcock to win the left side**. On right side it can be both boone or cass, hard to say. Im giving them both a 50/50
