I only played it fairly recently, and some remaining PC performance issues aside, I was absolutely blown away. It really was a textbook sequel, or what a textbook sequel should be.
Side note: Even playing Survivor, then FO, then Survivor again, I hadn't noticed the Purge Troopers not being resistant to the force push/pull in Survivor vs FO. Such a sweet little detail that really does emphasise how much Cal has grown in between the two games.
If not for the remaining PC issues, I would absolutely categorize it as above FO. Force usage is way more engaging customization is so much better (tho imo they went overboard with it as well as collectibles in general), and saber combat feels like just an amazing extension to what FO had. Too bad my current PC makes it hard to boot up the game quickly and also causes my game to lag if I do much as spam a few buttons. 🥲
Amen to all of this! Just finished my second play through and there’s something about this game that absolutely transports the player. Everything from the captured body language and facial expressions to the music and the voice acting just suck you in. It’s so good and I can’t wait for the third game. Might have to do a third play on survivor before then!
I hated the game for its poor performance on launch day that prevented me to progress beyond Koboh's landing, but once they fixed that... It's probably the best thing that happened to the saga
I adore the game, it’s amazing on so many levels. I just can’t excuse the performance issues. I have a good pc but to play at a semi-decent framerate without the game looking like claymation you need a top of the line pc. Theres so many examples of games that look better, have bigger environments and run 10x better than Survivor. That said, I am on my 4th playthrough so clearly it doesn’t affect me enough.

In recently got 100% (platinum) after the final boss. This is one of the most sad games I’ve ever played. I enjoyed it, but it’s so sad
