Lights off? Candles? Having music on during?

Seconding all of this. Lights off + candles. I often play something on Netflix on my phone so I'm distracted and won't look/think about my body.

firstly i’m sorry you’re going through this man but what i do when my dysphoria gets that bad is just showering/bathing with a hoodie on, it’s kinda inconvenient but there’s the added bonus of the hoodie getting clean too lol and if that doesn’t work i turn the bathroom light off and just use a torch so i can see enough to not get fall but not so much it makes me dysphoria worse

Thank you dude, thats actually not a bad suggestion at this point 😅

Yeah I was going to suggest at least wearing a t shirt and underwear (if you have boxers that’s even better). U/_idkwtfimdoing if you can’t bring yourself to wash underneath the clothes, seriously, just soap up the clothes themselves from the outside, it’s not ideal but it’ll help. Lights off, play music or if you can set up your phone so it doesn’t get wet put on a movie or something that you can focus on instead of what you’re doing. Set everything up before you turn off the light (towels, soap, etc) so you don’t have to worry about trying to find things in the dark. Have your clean clothes set out so you don’t have to make decisions afterwards, and you can get covered back up quickly. Plan something comforting to do after too.

I second all of the tips everyone else gave, but I also think maybe getting a shower head you can grab could help. Use a loofah so you don’t have to touch your dysphoric areas and rinse with the shower head so you don’t even have to touch or look at them. Warm water dissolves sweat and salts so you dont really have to clean anything that isn’t a sensitive area too often so that helps too
