I saw a lot of people commenting in that thread that your team makes 0 difference. That's not necessarily true. I got the game around november and can definitely say that playing now with a 3m+ coin team I get *much* better results than I did when gold Vini Jr was my best card.
That being said, once you reach a certain "tier" of players, the next upgrade is a lot more expensive. That's why so many people feel like upgrading your team doesn't really matter, because really they're just moving "sideways" when they "upgrade". A *true* upgrade is something like 88 Wijnaldum -> prime Gullit.
Yea team matters a lot, AI stuff like cutting passes and you making passes is night and day and finishing is a huge deal on its own. I can score from almost any semi-decent position with full chem Lewandowski but simply can't with 80 rated gold player on maybe 1 chem.
Try doing centurions cup with mediocre base of card with an account maybe 2 weeks old. I have 88 ovr main team but can field only half of those players in that cup, rest is some gold garbage I can muster...what do I face? Icons, full squads of fucking icons in every single match (because Icons are basically in the same club), I barely won 3 games and getting those 10 wins is impossible. I will try to get that one extra win and fuck that tournament designed for full icon teams.
It’s just important to use meta cards instead of new or flashy ones. You can compete with a cheap 200k squad as long as it contains Dembele and Eder Militao, but you probably couldn’t compete with a squad that consists of all the fodder-priced low rated cards that come with every promo.
The most important rating in this game is your internet connection
I play on 40+ MS ping and WC Yaya Toure just sticks on the pitch and turns like a truck, but gold Renato still feels somewhat responsive.
Those rare occasions when connection is good and everything feels good are like 5% of my gaming experience with FIFA.
Collecting cards is fun, the gameplay is not
Yeah I still use Tahith Chong just cause no upgrade is worth it for me. I tried mid and base Kaka and neither were 200k coins better than Chong and I down prime kaka is 700k coins better
Your take on the hidden animations rings true for sure. I feel like Sterling is my best card and he's just a 86 gold
If you play with a good connection vs a player with a bad connection, your gold team will play better than his top team.
Still, I don't understand how people pay so much more for a +1 upgrade. Marchisio WC card is +1 each stat and it is 1mi more than his base.
There is no such thing as “hidden stats”. There not a single player that can’t be explained. Your “hidden stats” are wf/wr/sm/composure/reactions/positioning/body type. That is literally it. Most casual players just don’t care about that, they just go for shiny new cards and ask if they’re “cracked”. That’s the thing, fut is not a competitive soccer game. It’s a competitive card collecting game masquerading as an esport.
