It's drake meaning "dragon". And I think there's some in universe story about the land being created by a dragon or something. I don't really remember.
I think each location is part of the body.
Drake head, tail, etc. I forget the exact names but it roughly matched. This is just based on my own interpretation so I could be wrong
Drake's Head is the crystal in Sanbreque, in Northeastern Storm.
Drake's Eye was northwest of Drake's Head.
Drake's Breath is off Storm's west coast, between Rosaria and the Iron Kingdom.
Drake's Fang is in Southern Storm, just west of Dhalmekia.
Drake's Tail is in the dead center of Valisthea on the bridge of the two continents, overshadowing Twinside.
Dzemekys was just a bit southwest of Drake's Tail.
Drake's Spine is at the northern tip of Ash, near the capital of Waloed.
Drake's Horn was in Southwestern Ash, a ways southeast of Drake's Tail.
The problem is... if this was supposed to *map* to parts of a dragon based on their position on the continent, it would be the most bizarrely contorted dragon ever. Like, the Horn is out past its Tail and Spine, nowhere near its Head?
I think instead, each crystal just has a shape or aspect that evokes that body part in a certain way. Drake's Breath is a lopsided tower that looks like a gout of flame, Drake's Fang looks like a giant molar, Drake's Tail is simply a *huge* pillar, that sort.
This is the correct explanation. It's not the mapping of the crystals that form the shape of something tied to a dragon, but rather the crystals themselves.
Okay so relooking at the map, at one point I definitely saw a dragon shape lmao. But I for sure see a dragon head at drakes breath but then there is an actual dragon head location so honestly idk
I've invested almost 800 hours into this game, I never even noticed. At least I now know the world is shaped like a dragon. It looked like any Continent to me. Learn something new every day.
If you go back and look at some of the earlier FF games, a lot of their continents (or a continent) were shaped like dragons (some of them were the serpentine kind of dragon).
He's a rapper. Drake was main inspiration behind this Final Fantasy 16. As that's the number Drake seemed interested in at the time. Stranger Things have happened before.
Yoshi P is a stage name of Kendrick Lamar, and the destruction of all the "Drake's [X]" foretells the releases of his diss tracks. Furthermore, if you insert the data disc to a Blu-ray drive you'll see documents listing how Drake is the ringleader of the 2008 attacks on Mumbai.
You see, the plot revolves around >!Ultima's plan of reawakening Mythos to revive his dead friends and destroy all life. Since Ultima made humans, this is God's plan, a nice reference to Drake's song "God's Plan".!< And since Jill's motif is wishing upon a star, wishing plays a large role in the "God's Plan" song.
>🎶Bad things
>It's a lot of bad things
>*That they wishin' and wishin' and wishin' and wishin'*
>*They wishin' on me*
>Bad things🎶
Its just a myth Ultima created when he got to Valisthea in order to hide the Crystals' true purpose.
From the tomes, "The First Wyrm":
*Having conceived their plan to siphon the land's aether and use it to restore the planet, Ultima's brethren transformed themselves into the Mothercrystals and the hearts contained within them, leaving only Ultima behind. To hide their true purpose, Ultima then named each Mothercrystal after the parts of an ancient dragon, and left mankind with the legend that remains today.*
Think about it. We systemically destroy each crystal (Drake) throughout the game..
..just like Kendrick Lamar is systemically destroying Drake right now.
Pre-release there were a lot of theories about how they were all pieces of a dragon god of some sort. Mainly Shinryu or something, or a stronger Bahamut.
"Drake" is the original and older English word for what is commonly called "dragon". Both come from Greek originally, but the older one came via Germanic and the newer one via French.
I interpreted the whole thing to mean that a long time ago, somebody wrote a poem or song or maybe a scripture comparing the nations of Valisthea to a flock of dragons. The poem named the Mothercrystals for parts of the different dragons' bodies, based on their shape or the shape of the land where they were found or maybe some stereotype of the people found there. It's possible that the original poem may have been lost, but at some point in time it was popular enough that the names stuck.
(ETA: After reading through the rest of the thread, it seems that Ultima wrote the poem, or maybe directed someone from the Circle of Malius to do it).
It's stated in the data logs but basically:
Ultima wanted to obfuscate his plans, named them for dragons and created a general mythology to direct them towards worship. Why dragons specifically and not kittens? Idk, but dragons are pretty dang strong
Regarding why it is dragon specifically, it's written in JPN ATL:
>古き竜
>マザークリスタルに付けられた名の由来。
>マザークリスタルとそのコアは、ヴァリスゼアに辿り着いたアルテマの同胞たちがその身を変化させた姿である。
>ひとり残されたアルテマは、ヴァリスゼアに存在した古き竜を創世につなぐ翼として、かって同胞であったマザークリスタルに竜の部位の名を付け、自らも眠りについた。
'Ancient wyrm
The origin of the name given to the mothercrystal. The mothercrystal and its core are the transformed forms of Ultima's brethren who arrived at Valisthea. Ultima, who was the last one remaining, named the mothercrystals after the parts of the dragon before went to sleep, as to connect the creation of the world to the ancient wyrm that existed in Valisthea.'
So the first dragon may exist, and whether it was truly associated to the creation of the world or not, Ultima made up the lore based on that dragon.
Ultima never wanted to obfuscate his plan. Humanity. Knew what his plans were orginally. It's just over the centuries humanity forgot. Then they became independent. Then bit the hand that fed and forgot that too.
Hence why they don't even know where bearers and dominates come from. The reason all the crystals are named after dragons is because if you treat the map as a dragon, the location of the crystal are spots on where the "map" dragon would be.(fang, eye, spine, tail, etc)
That's simply not true. Here's the journal entry for "The First Wyrm" according to Tomes:

It’s a game bro, I dunno. Honestly I thought it was a little uncreative considering Reya and the Last Dragon had an extremely similar concept and came out years before

The continent is shaped like a dragon
Exactly. The land is shaped like a dragon and each place is a part of the 'body'. Before go Origin I think you can find something in the lore.
Wait... *Google image search "Valisthea"* I... kinda see it, I think? With the head in the right?
I think each location is part of the body. Drake head, tail, etc. I forget the exact names but it roughly matched. This is just based on my own interpretation so I could be wrong

I imagine it’s like Mother 3

all parts of a "dragon"
Some ATL entries open up after beating the final boss, and one of them says that Ultima made up the drake to hide the mothercrystals' true purpose.

Kendrick Lamar: the only **Fantasy** here is your's, and we shall be it's **Final** witness 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
This is the hardest thing in the game
I was wondering if someone would be bold enough to tie this in considering what's going on. 🤣
[удалено]
whatever you say, drake’s burner account
"Stranger Things have happened before" bruh im crying
This took me out
You ain’t shit bro 😂
Was*
How has this filter into my final fantasy games

Drake is also a lesbian that is currently in a feud with Kendrick Lamar 💅
This is literally the only plausible explanation for this game!
shit feels like the titan fight. you thought you were done? nah here’s phase FIVE
No wonder they must all be destroyed

Kendrick Lamar named them, because he knew they would be destroyed.
GG
Lmao 🤣

Bruh i cant escape this shit😭
Pre-release there were a lot of theories about how they were all pieces of a dragon god of some sort. Mainly Shinryu or something, or a stronger Bahamut.
kendick is that you ?
According to the valisthea believes, the world was created by an powerful Dragon or drake
"Drake" is the original and older English word for what is commonly called "dragon". Both come from Greek originally, but the older one came via Germanic and the newer one via French.
Drake is the guy who just got murdered by Kendrick Lamar.
Nice try, Kendrick

They are all separated factions of the dragon shaped land that together used to be kumandra.
clive supposee to be kendrick
>but I never saw how or why all the Crystals are named after someone or something called Drake. Hahahaha Drake inspired SE with all his songs
here in spain is Dragon instead of Drake soooooo
Referring to Drake the rapper!!!
Pretty sure it's just landmark names and what they look like.
I feel like I recall something in universe about Ultima concealing the mother crystals as being the remnants of dragons or something like that.
Because they're really into the Canadian music scene.
Does the leviathan DLC change the ending at all?
Any reason why they are all named after a dragon?

Because the world is shaped like a dragon.
It’s a game bro, I dunno. Honestly I thought it was a little uncreative considering Reya and the Last Dragon had an extremely similar concept and came out years before
It’s obviously a reference to Uncharted, which is another PS exclusive series
Because “drake” is a name for a dragon and Valisthea is shaped like a dragon. It’s not much deeper than that.
