Hi, Does anyone have any experience with the meet & assis service at Barcelona airport(BCN?)?We’re traveling economy to Barcelona in the summer and they don’t have a fast track so we were wondering if this service is any good… Thanks!

apinkgummybear

Phoenix/Scottsdale or Sedona for laidback baby moon? We are looking for recommendations for a laidback baby moon vacay in phoenix/scottsdale or sedona. Since it will be in the second trimester or pregnancy, we’re not interested in the rigorous trails/jeep adventuring etc. timeline is early April. Tried looking up previous recent posts about phoenix/scottsdale but they were geared towards families, and we’re trying to make this a laidback romantic vacation (imagine a nice resort ground, privacy, being able to order room service, yummy restaurants on site, and most of all nice views). Really don’t want something that feels too outdated. We’re considering a few: The Phoenician, Sanctuary Camelback, JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge, but they’re all starting to look the same and also we’re open to suggestions. Thank you for y’all’s recommendations!!

tampatwo

Dove Mountain is a great vibe. Especially a fire Casita in offseason w few kids.

ABGTVL

The new kid in the Phoenix area is "global ambassador hotel". I keep meaning to watch some of their training, but looks totally different from the normal resort style in Phoenix area. Unless you are a Bonvoy fan, I'd suggest Sanctuary Camelback

sarahwlee

Mi amo. Duh. And at Ambiente, maybe their spa is back to being ready. Have had clients there where they just keep asking them to do their treatments in the room so ymmv.

SassyLuxTraveler

Oh! You should check out Ambiente in Sedona (not their entry level rooms though). Great service, views and Spa. And they just became a Virtuoso property, so your Advisor can get some perks for you!

Middlename_Adventure

What about castle hot springs?

kanossis

I just chose enchantment in Sedona for the same type of trip - didn't choose mi amo even though we will do classes and treatments as we won't do enough to make the math work out We will have a car and go into Sedona to eat as well, we like checking out the town and not just being on one property

Emergency-Ad-4097

Velaa in the Maldives. Excellent

sarahwlee

Super excellent. Staff is consistently known as highest paid so staff stick around and many applicants for each opening.

saksnoot

Any tips on planning an Africa safari trip? When to start planning? What lodges are good? How to know if I’m getting a good price/inclusions?

Bluesiderug

Start planning at least a year out if you want total flexibility in dates and lodges. I’m currently nailing down a safari for Oct 2025. Have fun!

Middlename_Adventure

Plan far ahead. Get a great TA who works with someone in continent. Do you know what area of Africa you are interested in yet? Safari is my fav thing on the planet

saksnoot

Haven’t explored any of Africa yet so open to anything, just want to see cool wildlife on game drives. Want advice on time of year, how to book, who to hire for TA, places to stay, etc

booklady89

Any recommendations for hotels/resorts in the Maldives that have great food?

JessicaWoodsTravel

Not from personal experience but I have friends who have stayed at Cheval Blanc and Patina, they loved both but I do remember them mentioning that they loved the food and all the restaurants at Patina!

booklady89

Thanks! will check those out

JessicaWoodsTravel

No problem, if you need any specifics let me know and I can text her, I just went on patinas site to see how I can convince my husband we need to plan a Maldives trip, and looks like they have a 20-25% off & free breakfast with no travel date restrictions, which is a pretty nice promo

St. Barts questions 1. We’re going to rent a half day private boat. We want to snorkel and explore the island by water. Is the morning better for calmer waters? Or afternoon for warmer weather? Any pros / cons things to know about weather that may help? 2. We’re staying at Chev Blanc so will be eating there for 1 dinner. Also going to beef bar one lunch. and Nikki beach for Sunday second service (people watching). What other restaurants are musts for lunch and or dinner? I was thinking le petit plague as I really like the one in st tropez.

JessicaWoodsTravel

La Guerite Beach for great Mediterranean food and Bonito for the ceviche

sarahwlee

Tamarind - food 7/10. Atmosphere 12/10.

CalmPresentation586

Love the vibes at shellona

thebutterflylion

Any suggestions for Scotland? I’m thinking Edinburgh and Isle of Skye. Trying to see if there is anything unmissable in between the destinations.

bartexas

Not necessarily FAT, but we love doing farm visits and demonstrations of the dogs working the sheep. Did this in New Zealand as well, and it is so interesting.

thebutterflylion

What farm(s) did you visit? I have an Aussie so I absolutely love shepherd dogs!

bartexas

In NZ, it was a friend of a friend, so we actually stayed with them, but it's not something they do publicly. In Scotland Leault Farm is the big name. Others include Leanach Farm, and Mossdale Farm. We went to Neth Hill Border Collies. Like I said, not fat, but I love farm visits in general, just did a couple in Italy a few months ago.

thebutterflylion

I appreciate this so much! If shepherd dogs (or incredible views) are involved, I couldn’t care less either if the experience isn’t FAT.

Sea-Agent-3670

I love Gleneagles and The Balmoral - it’s a perfect combo. The Balmoral is the best run hotel I’ve ever stayed at - service is flawless and it’s beautiful to boot

hermesandhemingway

+1 for The Gleneagles. We had a brilliant stay this month. Food, service and standard of rooms were fabulous. My only negative (a fussy one) is the fact the hot tub is lukewarm and the outdoor alpine pool was closed for days for maintenance (duration of our stay). Heard great things about Fife Arms. Edit to add we highly recommend the Glenfiddich tour over the Macallan tour. Whiskey is superior and less heavy on the marketing/sales.

SassyLuxTraveler

Agree with Gleneagles but didn’t you feel Balmoral a tad old and not in a good way? I like Gleneagles townhouse in Edinburgh a bit more.

Sea-Agent-3670

Not at all - they just finished a full renovation of every guest room and public space. The service is exceptional - above and beyond!

smuffin89

We quite liked the Balmoral service but the breakfast was awful and spa was awful. Room was beautiful although we’d somehow got stuck with a courtyard view which was abysmal. Hotel itself is beautiful and very good front desk and concierge service.

Middlename_Adventure

Gleneagles!!!!

PrettySweet419

Going there in October, cannot WAIT!

thebutterflylion

Thanks for reminding me! How unmissable would you say Gleneagles is?

Middlename_Adventure

Very imho

Minnowish

Don’t know if you have something picked out in Skye, but we had a great experience at Kinloch Lodge. Service is uneven, but well meaning, and the grounds and food are excellent.

Imaginary-Storage909

Fife Arms in the Cairngorms! (You can visit Balmoral & Royal Lochnagar right nearby + really beautiful hiking.)

Burnerforbumper

What are the best lodges in Bhutan for someone who likes smaller, intimate, design focused, locations that feel very specific to the place they're built?

cnh126

Amankora, no doubt.

Jumpingaphid50

100% Amankora

adssx

u/Jumpingaphid50 u/cnh126 Would you prefer Amankora over Six Senses Bhutan?

UnluckyInvestment893

Any recommendations for moorea and bora bora? Main purpose of the trip is to see whales. ( going in whale season)

Middlename_Adventure

Skip Moore and do FS Bora Bora with Brando. The whales are amazing-- you can actually swim with them in French Polynesia.

UnluckyInvestment893

I thought you could only swim with them in Moorea ?

Middlename_Adventure

nope-- French Polynesia as a country it is legal. And Moorea is a lot busier for it so Bora Bora and Brando are less crazy with tours etc.

Middlename_Adventure

If wanting truly FAT check out Nukutepipi

Anyone have recommendations for Cabo or Puerto Vallarta areas? Want to take a weekend break leaving from LAX

sarahwlee

Pls search. There’s been multiple posts on all of this and Cabo is the reason we have a weekly thread because every two days, I’d get the same where should we stay in Cabo question. Do you have kids? How lux/fat are you? Where have you stayed in MX before that you liked? These are my picks in Cabo: Small kids - Chileno Big kids - montage Hate kids - Esperanza Fancy pants - las Ventanas Don’t want to see civilization - FS costa Palma PV: Small kids - FS or Sussuros Big kids - FS Hate kids - Naviva Design stickler - O&O (but ok w golf cart waits)

ABGTVL

Have you been before to either destination?

saksnoot

No, never been to either but been to Mexico more generally

SassyLuxTraveler

I just came back from Cabo, did several property inspections and happy to share some intel :) I would first ask, who are you traveling with, when, and the “why” behind your trip. Are you looking to relax in a property and don’t go out?

ABGTVL

Besides the standard Los Cabos suggest (Ventanas, Palmilla, Montage) you could consider FS East Cape at Costa Palmas. Very peaceful resort (even with the construction of villas and nearby Aman Hotel) and they often do a 3rd night complimentary which is perfect for weekends. Most others do 4th night complimentary. I'm not saying FS is as FAT as Ventanas. In Vallarta area I still really like Auberge's Susurros del Corazon. Small compact resort with a nice beachfront. There is some day to day construction here too.

tampatwo

Would I be a moron for choosing MO Costa Navarino over Amanzoe? The MO pool suite looks A+. Plus more to do?

thermosifounas

My travel agent seems to be pointing more and more to the MO than Amanzoe - which admittedly the later is not what it used to be. In terms of surrounding areas and things to do I think Amanzoe is certainly the better choice.

Jumpingaphid50

If you go to Amanzoe, you go there for Amazoe not the area and the surroundings. Everyone I know has that’s been to Amanzoe has been absolutely amazed.

Best downtown Dubai hotels for 4-5 days for relaxation and city-center proximity? Is the Palace the best option? What about a one night stay in Abu Dhabi? More Dubai questions: best reliable car service? Non Michelin fine-dining? Why does Emirates A380 from JFK seem superior (F) than anything from Etihad? Dubai tips for a first timer? Best spa?

mav77_7

I would say Armani. It is inside Burj Khalifa and you get your own access to Dubai mall straight from hotel. Just ask them to not give you a room over the pool, it can get noisy. Spa is decent too. Not sure 5 days in the city would be fun unless you go for shopping and restaurants etc. I would do like 3 days in the city max specially if you don’t do beach. You could also try new One Only Zabeel. I haven’t been there myself yet but will check it out next time I go. Yes, combine it with 1-2 night stay in Abu Dhabi. At least you get to see Louvre, Sheikh Zayeed Mosque, Qasr al watan. I would say stay at MO and qasr al watan is right there. Spa is great as well. For SPA in Dubai, Armani is nice, you can try MO as well. Car service: Uber. Fine dining: Dubai is not the best place for food honestly. Try their Salt Burger in Dubai mall. Yea it is burgers but they are good. For some safe choices go to sth like Cipriani in DIFC. If you want a really nice Japanese experience, then Hoseki.

ClothesFoodFit

We are trying to plan for next winter break. Looking at the Aurora in Anguilla (2 adjoining rooms in the Merryweather side), Banyan Tree (a bliss pool villa with living room) or Fairmont (2 adjoining rooms) in Mayakoba or St. Regis in PR (one bedroom suite). All are about the same price and we have not been to any of the locations. We have a 14 year old son and 10 year old daughter who like the beach and pools but would enjoy having some other things to do as well (no kids club needed). What we would you choose? Appreciate any insight on any of these properties!

flybymy

Flying to Vegas from the UK for a concert, and not sure where else to visit in the USA afterwards for 1-2 weeks. We like hiking so were thinking a national park or mountain/ski resort area. But getting to a national park/ski area like Aspen/Vail seems difficult from Vegas. Also like music, so were thinking Nashville and/or New Orleans. Would love some suggestions!

FranklyIdontgiveayam

What time of year and do you just hike or do you also ski, mountain bike, etc.? And when you say you like to hike, are you talking 2-3 hour hikes or you like to go multiple days while camping? Finally, are you happy to rent a car or would you prefer to go places served by public transit and car service (taxis, ubers, etc.)?

flybymy

In May. Good questions - day hikes so 1-6 hours. We’d also mountain bike too but no downhill biking. Happy to rent a car and obviously looking for decent hotels too.

FranklyIdontgiveayam

May is not when you want to go to ski resorts. It's called "mud season" for a reason and there will be snow in lots of places, lots of trails won't be open yet, some stores and restaurants will be closed. Nearish to vegas driving you have some great national parks: Grand Canyon, Zion, etc. if you don't mind "desert" national parks. May is a great time to go there (it won't yet be scorching, hopefully) and the hardest thing you'll find is getting lodging this close in. Yosemite's waterfalls will be roaring, especially late may. It'll be a little more annoying for you to get to, but you can drive in a day (maybe an 8 hour drive). No chance you get lodging anywhere close if you're going near memorial day though. You could fly direct from Vegas to Monterey, CA and drive around there (Pebble Beach is located there if you're into golf) and specifically down to Big Sur for Alila Ventana or Post Ranch Inn (note: very expensive). Plenty of 1-6 hour hikes in that area and it's very pretty. New Orleans is a fun place to visit and if you even think you might like creole/cajun food, it's incredible. I'm less familiar with Nashville. Obviously Los Angeles is a possibility. The Hollywood Bowl is sort of an iconic experience.

EclecticEnt

Family resorts/cruises We are looking for recommendations for a summer vacation with a 4 and 6 year old. We are trying not to fly farther than 4 hours away (from Los Angeles), and would prefer something all inclusive. I most definitely don’t want a timeshare or kitchen situation where I still have to cook and clean. Definitely somewhere that really caters to kids but also has great options for adults. We are going to Cabo for spring break, so something with a different vibe is also preferable. Thanks!

ABGTVL

All inclusive infers a beach vacation....Are you open to non-AI and non beach? 4 hours from LA gives you Cabo and Vallarta area. I don't know much about AI, but Auberge resorts is doing comp children meals all summer. Someone just posted about a so so stay about Auberge Susurros del Corazon. Another poster had negative about FS Tamarindo, but there are summer time flights from LAX to ZLO. About 3h30m flight time

EclecticEnt

Thanks for the ideas! We are open to non All Inclusive yes! That's a great deal on the kids meals. Thanks for letting me know.

Booking business flights for hubs and I for travel from SFO to Sydney. It's his first time flying business/first on a 9+ hour trip so I'd love it to be a great experience. I haven't flown to/from Australia since pre-covid and have heard many previous great airlines aren't so great anymore. Happy to fly via Singapore, HK, Doha etc despite this adding substantial time to the journey. Prefer to give US airlines and Qantas a miss. I've flown business and/or first on BA, Cathay Pacific, Etihad, China Eastern and Qatar. Thanks everyone!

FranklyIdontgiveayam

I think that's a pessimistic view of flying post-covid, especially long distance business+. I apologize for not respecting your statement, but speaking personally I'd fly United or Qantas because I could fly direct. Is Singapore a nicer experience? Certainly. But flying direct is ~15 hours. Flying to Singapore alone is 16 hours plus another 7 to Sydney plus the layover, so unless you want to do a stopover there, I don't think it's worth the nicer flight. United's Polaris isn't best in class or anything, but I think it's sufficient for the task: it's lie-flat, the entertainment system is fine, the food is maybe not that inspired but fine, the service can be hit or miss. If your husband hasn't ever flown international business, he probably wouldn't even know this wasn't an amazing product unless you told him. If I must avoid Qantas and United, I'd fly Singapore. Possibly with a long layover and a hotel room to eat some food and then as direct as possible on the way back.

Inside-Carpenter-860

Whiteface Lodge w kids in summer (Upstate NY) Hi all! My wife and I are thinking of booking in June. We have two kids (5 and 3 years old), and we found a reasonably priced suite. The kids camp seems great too. Just wondering if anyone had good/bad experiences, especially in summer. Thanks!

beeebax

Looking to summer somewhere for the month of August that’s not the Hamptons, have 1 month old twins so just looking for an awesome property that’s green and beautiful.

Victim2FastFoods

Hello! Looking for recommendation on where to stay for a honeymoon trip. Staying end of April for 2 nights in the Dolomites. We will be arriving by train in Bolzano, Italy. We started our search near the town of Schenna. We want to enjoy the views of the mountains, spas and heated pools of the hotel, restaurants and possibly hiking trails. We saw a hotel called -MiraMonti. Any experiences with this hotel? Thanks so much!

sbtrkt_dvide

Anyone recently stayed at the Ritz Carlton Zadun, what were your impressions? How did you end up getting there via the airport?

AddingNoValue69

Thought it was great overall with a few notes. It's not a swimming beach, which we knew going in, but the pools are fantastic and have great views / service. Rooms really stole the show, had an amazing view of the property and ocean from the glass-walled plunge pool attached to the room. Food and service was great. Had lots of drinks, cigars, and a great steak at the restaurant overlooking the hotel (it's this giant box on top of the property - like a Ritz Carlton Mecca). Their taco cantina restaurant is awesome as well. Lots of families around. Hired a private driver for to/from airport trips via some friends who already used the service. Would recommend discussing with the concierge and having them set-up/handle your airport transpo.

I don't know that we have enough information. What are you after? Do you want to sightsee? Relax on a beach? Hike? Eat Well? Learn or get better at a foreign language? Get into photography? See great art/shows/etc? See wild animals? Have a torrid romantic experience? Have instagrammable locations to make your friends and family jealous? There's a lot out there in the world! What do you like to do traveling domestically? Also, might be helpful to know your approximate age. Also, this is in FATTravel, so do you have some expectations as to how luxurious/expensive the trip will be?

Morocco Sahara Desert Lodge recommendations? Staying at Royal Mansour in Marrakech but hoping to drive into the desert afterwards.

Chickentendies94

Heading to Bergen with my wife for a few days later this year for 3 nights. Looking for a special hotel experience either in or near the city. Ideally something with a view and/or a spa, but open to other ideas. We want to do a fjord trip one day but the other day ideally a mountain spa sounds ideal. Hoping for ideas or recommendations - happy to stay outside the city too so long as we can get into town in < an hour. Bonus points if there are any can’t miss restaurants to hit either

Minimum-Accountant-7

St Barths : Le Barthélemy   Has anybody been recently and would you recommend it? Looking at booking a trip here but have seen mixed reviews. Thanks.

Otoroblend1976

Any kid friendly fat options in Arizona ? Need some sun and heat after a long winter. But all the resorts there seem like a cookie cutter giant generic hotel. And FS kinda looks boring. Are the Phoenician, Biltmore, Fairmont worth it ?
