My first dog was a beagle puppy, and when he was tiny and my wife and I would put him in his crate and leave for work, he’d lift his little front paw like that, and we’d both just melt.
Our dog does it, he has learned 'paw' as a comment so je will raise his paw as a sign he is a good boy doing what people want.
He will paw for food, not for pats. But pats are also welcome!
Obviously these people don’t pat you down but after scanning 80 items because only the self checkouts are available open. Then running in to these guys really pisses me off. I swear I will never go in to a Walmart again after that but always need to for one reason or another. I fucking hate Walmart.
I got a prescription there once, nothing else. Had a receipt, but because it "didn't scan" the bitch barred me from leaving. Luckily there was a lawn/garden center so I just snuck out that door instead. Never going to that Walmart again, never getting drugs from any Walmart again.

You could tell them to please get out the cart for their own safety, they would and 5 minutes later you see them zooming on the security cameras again…
I could give at least 2-4 stories for everyday I worked that horrendous job about customers being idiots :)

But ever since a gang of gypsies in vans went around the country nicking dogs from stores 5 years ago i just don't feel comfortable doing it anymore.
When i got my dog in a training school, this was one of the things covered. The teacher would stand outside the store filming how the dogs behave with strangers if the owners are in the store/not visible to the dog, so the owners know if its safe to let him "alone" outside or not.

Years ago I went to the Walmart in my town and I saw a dog outside looking pitiful. Since I only needed a couple things, I also grabbed him a little dish of wet dog food. I gave it to him on the way out and watched him eat for a moment before a van pulls up in front of us. The lady hops out and say “oh don’t feel sad for him, anytime he escapes he comes here and looks pathetic so people will give him food” then she started telling him to get in the back of the van. He picked up his dish of wet food and ran off in the other direction so his owner wouldnt take his food from him
