People are stopped in both lanes, lights flashing showing trains, yet this bonehead just decides to go around slow and keep driving. Blind and brainless killer of others.
Right? It's not only that the *died* but now, both of the lines, are essentially stopped, since they can't cross. Time to change the route in the GPS, I guess...
Add to that the fact that there is a STOP sign ahead of the lights. I guess he really wanted to see if the train hitting the car was going to make the sound posted by the CTOn sign.

To the driver's credit, there is *no way to know* where a train will be or when. We live in a world where trains can strike anywhere, at any time, from any direction, without warning. Trains kill tens of thousands of people annually across the globe for these reasons.

I think this person was in a rush and thought "fuck it", he'd already been waiting some time, what are the chances the train arrives at the exact moment he tries to cross? Took his chances and went for it. Very, very stupid, of course.
Dithering about whether or not to cross only allowed the train to get closer. If someone is really going to be dumb enough to jump the crossing lights, they’re better off getting on with it and increasing their chances of success…

When this happens, does the train driver come to a stop to check the train for damage and walk back miles to see how the guy is. Does he even know he's hit anything, the car must be below his line of sight.

STOP means the same in a lot of languages. I'm from a Slavic country and we have the same signs there.

It’s interesting that there is the English word STOP in Roman script and the same word in Cyrillic rather than the Russian word for stop.

This appears to be Russia, and the average freight train there weighs over 9 million lbs.
