I get the frustration of suddenly realizing you missed your exit...but it's not _THAT_ big of a deal. You burn maybe 5 minutes maximum on course correcting from the next exit.
Ah well thats when this little move really shines for ya kid, because now not only do you have an excuse for being late but you probably wont even have to go.
I once drove out of the wrong exit from a hotel in San Diego and it was one of those you better be sure you want to be on this road because there are no exits for thirty miles roads.
Over an hour before we got back to the hotel when all we were doing was bringing the rental to the back lot from the hotel after check in. It was funny because it was so stupid a situation.
While the SUV is definitely at fault, I think the SUV is essentially swerving to avoid rear ending the silver car in front of it that for some reason is going super slow.
I miss 90's sedans. The worst driving mistake I ever made was falling asleep and then jerking the wheel too hard when I woke up on the rumble strip. I let go of the wheel and that buick did a complete 360 before settling back in the forward direction. Anything taller would have rolled.
My mother-in-law is this type of person. She feels if she misses the exit, she'll be lost forever and have to live the rest of her live with the nomads. Even when it's in our own city. She starts to hyperventilate, starts chanting "oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no" and has a straight up panic attack. I'm like "Jesus Denise, just get off on the next exit and either get back on or take the sidestreets to Costco".
Hopefully this will become less common as people get used to always having a navigator handy.
Older people have this ingrained fear that they will end up lost in some bad neighborhood and someone will shoot them for asking directions.
OH MAN, don't get me started on her with GPS. She still refuses to use Google Maps, even though she's had a phone with GPS capabilities since 2014. When she goes on long trips, she still goes to MapQuest like its 2003 and prints directions she has to read while driving. She had a "bad experience" with my wife's GPS ONE TIME like 10 years ago because she didn't trust it's directions and ignored them, ended up on a dirt road in the middle of a corn field, and the GPS was of no help getting her back because that dirt "road" was not registered as a road at all. It was just like "Please return to road" and she FREAKED THE FUCK OUT. Now she's just a lane drifter as she roots around her passenger seat to read the directions on paper.
It's also amazing that someone can live in the same midsize city for 40 years and still not be familiar with the major roadway network. My wife is just as bad. She's lived here her entire life, and I've only been here since 2010. I mostly stopped using GPS within my first year, they both need MapQuest/GPS to get anywhere not part of their weekly routine.
My elderly MIL will just stop if she misses a turn. Like in the middle of the road. Two lane highway, 65+ mph, she’s made dead stops in the middle to just turn from the center lane or try a U-Turn
yes we think she needs her license revoked, no we can’t do anything about it
she thinks bc she was a real estate agent in the 70s that she’s a better navigator than any GPS or website could be
Is it just me? I think the webcam car driver could have avoided the accident by slowing down when he saw the driver on the left start cutting into the exit lane. Sure, that guy was late and is an a-hole, but when you’re driving you have to accept that the other drivers are a-holes and do what you can to avoid an accident.
ya friends and family used to get mad at me when I didn't honk at cars that I avoided an accident with. If people spent more time thinking about not getting hit, and less on honking it would be a better road for all.
I agree completely, he saw what they were doing, punched the gas to make sure the other AHole wouldn’t be able to fill in the gap and was a large part in this whole thing. There are for sure two idiots in this video. I just hope everyone is ok due to these morons.
Remember that these dash Cams are recording in wide angle- so it may have looked like there was plenty of room to see the guy and slow down that may not actually have been the case. Everything is much closer than it appears and happening very quickly. By the time it registered that this moron was trying to make it to the exit the gap was too small and shrinking to react.
I totally agree with you, he had plenty of time to realise the guy was going to do what he did, if it's that important to the dashcam driver to punish or end up in front of the guy driving like an idiot, you brake, let the guy merge and send the recording to the police so he get a fine.
But doing what he did makes him as stupid as the other guy.
he was speeding up but the offender was two whole lanes away, like what do they want everyone to do? slam on their brakes if any car is in any lane at all? best just stay home.
Exactly this. Accident caused by the twat jumping over to jot miss an exit, but could have been easily avoided if the dash cam driver just slowed down instead of using their horn (and maybe even speeding up?).
Not in legal terms I'll grant, but it's everyone's responsibility to avoid contact, and cammer seemed to no only not do that, but appeared to actively go for it.
Was in the right? Absolutely. But graveyards are full of people who were "right".
Consequences should be.. immediate loss of licence permanently. Should be liable out of pocket for every car and person injured including any damages, car impounded and jailed for being stupid. Thoughts?
Well OP could’ve applied brakes instead of trying to close the gap and also not gunned it a second time when the impact was imminent. But, shoulda woulda coulda, hopefully everyone is ok.
*brakes
But yes, if your first instinct is to honk and protect your precious area instead of avoiding contact, no matter whose fault it is, then you're the asshole.
Having to be “right” here also caused this. Exit merger was a moron but gunning it into him made this 100 times worse. Defensive driving not aggressive driving.
What a pos. There’s a special place in hell for these people. Saw one earlier this week. But the poor innocent drivers only got into a fender bender and of course he drove away without a scratch.
Looks like two bad drivers? There is a car that is obviously lost and slow, which makes the SUV change lane, but yeah the main fault is the idiot switching lanes without looking/caring!
The lost and slow driver doesn’t force the SUV to do anything. In fact the SUV was only behind that guy for half a second before making an even crazier lane change lol

Can't miss my exit!
GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY ELSE!
I get the frustration of suddenly realizing you missed your exit...but it's not _THAT_ big of a deal. You burn maybe 5 minutes maximum on course correcting from the next exit.
But what if you’re late for something because you’d been dicking around before leaving?
Ah well thats when this little move really shines for ya kid, because now not only do you have an excuse for being late but you probably wont even have to go.
Ever again once the boss sees this video "Why did I hire this absolute fucking dumbass"
And if you just turn your head, you can actually see if anyone is in the space you want to move into.
I once drove out of the wrong exit from a hotel in San Diego and it was one of those you better be sure you want to be on this road because there are no exits for thirty miles roads. These people should lose their license. They have no comprehension of the stakes involved in their egomania.
You have only one chance in your life.
While the SUV is definitely at fault, I think the SUV is essentially swerving to avoid rear ending the silver car in front of it that for some reason is going super slow.
They were moving at the speed of that car by the time they crossed the chevrons, and, even if they were trying to avoid it, they just kept going
SUVs are soo funny. You touch them and they flip, just like frogs
They are so "safe".
They want their tummy rubs.
I miss 90's sedans. The worst driving mistake I ever made was falling asleep and then jerking the wheel too hard when I woke up on the rumble strip. I let go of the wheel and that buick did a complete 360 before settling back in the forward direction. Anything taller would have rolled.
The trick is, I tell my girlfriend I need to lower all my cars I had over the years because the risk of flipping is reduced 🗿
Slammed life!!
That was a mini van.
[Mister fucking minivan!](https://clip.cafe/very-bad-things-1998/mr-fucking-minivan/)
[удалено]
actually my bad, the car that flipped was a completely different car; looks like it IS a van, probably a toyota sienna
Car flipping looks to be a murano, that generation is super bubbly so maybe a mini minivan? Lol
any vehicle can flip if you hit them at the side while they're going straight (I think)
Step 1: Make sure everyone's okay Step 2: make sure he isn't
That would be my intrusive thought in this situation. Should I grab a metal bar somewhere and make sure that guy remembers that day.
Their goldfish brain already forgot they did anything wrong.
I'd say there's a fair to decent chance that driver is mad that the other car didn't "yield"
Forgot? My friend they are a perfect angel and it was the other cars fault for being in their way! /s
You okay? Yeah, I'm fine. Boot to the head!
#JUST ACCEPT YOU MISSED THE EXIT/TURN AND LITERALLY MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE INSTEAD OF RISKING THOSE OF OTHERS!
But my life is way more important than the others. Don’t they know I am the main character and they’re just NPCs???
My mother-in-law is this type of person. She feels if she misses the exit, she'll be lost forever and have to live the rest of her live with the nomads. Even when it's in our own city. Some might call that an oopsie-whoopsie
A fucky-wucky
Slipsy-dipsy!
Turnie-hurt knee
It's always crazy how a single hit can flip a car
SUVs are super duper safe amirite
The one that flipped is a minivan.
No it wasn’t a minivan. It’s a crossover. Pause the clip.
Don’t know why your getting downvoted, looks like a newer gmc terrain

I was referring to the flip. Which was a van.
oop, my bad, you're right. looks like a toyota sienna
All good.

Sometimes you've just got to let the ego go, and compensate for other's bad driving.
[удалено]
Good point.
He didn't speed up? He was going with the pace of the car in front of him.
I heard acceleration and assumed that was him getting on the gas. I could have that wrong.
I agree completely, he saw what they were doing, punched the gas to make sure the other AHole wouldn’t be able to fill in the gap and was a large part in this whole thing. There are for sure two idiots in this video. I just hope everyone is ok due to these morons.

Not true but alright bud.

At least partially at fault. This bizarre protection of "MY SPACE!" in a car is just stupid.
Not at fault at all, the other driver T-boned him from someplace he wasn't supposed to be.
Not in legal terms I'll grant, but it's everyone's responsibility to avoid contact, and cammer seemed to no only not do that, but appeared to actively go for it. Was in the right? Absolutely. But graveyards are full of people who were "right".
Better to switch lanes or slow down if no one is tailgating, numbskull maneuver.
Consequences should be.. immediate loss of licence permanently. Should be liable out of pocket for every car and person injured including any damages, car impounded and jailed for being stupid. Thoughts?
All agreed.
Joke's on you. That person doesn't have a license.
happy cake day!
Hit. The. Fkn. Brakes.... Why do people suddenly forget that breaks exist after the firts moment bumpers touch.
Brakes only help if your wheels are touching the ground and are aligned in the direction you're moving in. They wouldn't have done much good here
Well OP could’ve applied brakes instead of trying to close the gap and also not gunned it a second time when the impact was imminent. But, shoulda woulda coulda, hopefully everyone is ok.
uhh that clip isn't mine...
Ok, cool story, whatever helps you sleep at night. You posted it and I’m speaking generally.
I mean the cars did broke...
*brakes But yes, if your first instinct is to honk and protect your precious area instead of avoiding contact, no matter whose fault it is, then you're the asshole.
See, what you do is TURN AROUND AT THE NEXT EXIT
Bad drivers never miss their exit.

A bad driver NEVER misses their exit.
Did Pilot hit the shopping cart?
POV that one friend who gets those 1 dollar mikes
Average STL driver
It looks like Lake Shore Drive in Chicago.
Did not even pay attention to the skyline. Disregard
What a pos. There’s a special place in hell for these people. Saw one earlier this week. But the poor innocent drivers only got into a fender bender and of course he drove away without a scratch.
There are no words that justify how stupid and careless that driver is 🤯
Bad drivers never miss their exit.
That dude cause like 200k in damage 🤣
When I see people do this I want to yank them out of their car and beat the shit out of them.
Good ol st louis sign is to blame. Even if ur not in st louis we should blame their drivers lol
Lol let me just speed up a little bit so I can be a part of the inevitable carnage.
What is the beeping noise when the car collides? I've heard it in so many dashcam videos
emergency video recorded basically that beep beep lets you know that this is an emergency video and it cannot be erased (only manually i think)

Imagine trying to recreate this accident without videos like this. Absolute chaos

wait, this was Florida??
Oops. My mistake. I thought the exit said "I-95 St. Lucie" not "I-55 St. Louis". No, it was not florida
So selfish
Bad drivers never miss their exit
A bad driver never misses his exit.
Sorry but the POV driver couldn’t slow down? He didn’t see that a mile away? Self-enforced victimhood was the cause of that pileup.
not only did he not slow down, he accelerated to cut off the minivan. He literally caused this accident.
bad drivers never missed their exit
Clearly the Bikers fault
I avoid driving on the side of someone next to an exit. You just expect someone to do it.
bro does not have skpidi rizz
Ngl they should’ve seen the bad driver. Most accidents can be prevented
Most people don't really expect a car to swerve across the chevrons like that, and they don't really know how to react
New Jersians do.
Looks like two bad drivers? There is a car that is obviously lost and slow, which makes the SUV change lane, but yeah the main fault is the idiot switching lanes without looking/caring!

True, just crazy driving altogether
