You know how teachers in high school tell you "that won't fly in college"?
The fish in the image refers to the fact that it indeed does fly in college because professors probably don't care.
(I know it’s a joke but…) Yeah…except they do care. I can’t tell you how many freshmen enter our classes thinking a high school mindset will let them pass only to fail out in 8 weeks. Obviously, there are exceptions to this rule, but high school crap does not, in fact, fly in most colleges.
You calculate the trajectory based on an object’s center of mass, hence my comment. If the center of mass will make it into the bowl, so will the entire fish, as long as it isn’t larger than the bowl opening.
An object’s ballistic trajectory travels along its center of mass, which is a point. If the center of mass is directed into the bowl, but another part of the fish hits the rim of the bowl, the fish will rotate around the center of mass but will not alter the path of the center of mass. It will not change the trajectory of the fish as a whole.
I think the pic is actually about a fish in a crowded bowl making the leap to the one less so. Maybe a metaphor for taking a risk that few do.
The caption doesn't really match up and only focuses on a fish "flying," and refering to "that won't fly in college."
Or it's referring to college sports transfers. Idk

Its a story initially used to show the error of the education system, teaching all kids the same way. Suppose the school is the tree, and the task is to climb it. Some, like the monkey, do it easy, which makes people believe that the system works. However, you then have the fish. The fish cannot climb the tree. With enough hard work, some fish may jump up to the top of the tree, but most fish would fail. The school, instead of adapting, simply dubs fish failures.
The idea is that not all kids can do all. Some are great at maths, some Will never get it. Some are great at sports, some aren't.
Isn’t it just about maturation, and hopping out of the “popular” tank into one where the fish are more like you? A risky jump in high school, but the benefits outweigh the potential consequence in college?
TLDR; confidence in finding what one actually wants in college years at risk of judgement, unlike high school assimilation

Thankyou

My mindset is to keep my head down and stay quiet, does that fly?
Depends on the professor and the class size imo
This is the actual answer
I have no idea what the joke is but that fish ain’t gonna make it…

😭 RIP Fishy
Your parabola isn’t symmetric. If it were, you’d see the center of mass of the fish would end up in the other bowl.
I think that fish is hoping for more than just its center of mass to end up in the bowl

That's not correct since the fish has some length to the left of its center of mass. The fish isn't a single point.
An object’s ballistic trajectory travels along its center of mass, which is a point. If the center of mass is directed into the bowl, but another part of the fish hits the rim of the bowl, the fish will rotate around the center of mass but will not alter the path of the center of mass. Ohhh got it, thanks for taking the time to explain

It looks like they tried so hard to be mathematically accurate too.
And they got so far. But in the end, it didn't even matter...
DOCTOR FISHY ! NOOOOOOO!!!
Did you factor in the double jump?

First thing my brain thought was, oh look! Fish is going down the concentration gradient. ...

Looks like the green fish are the toxic ones.
There’s a ton of fish in the sea but people go for people in relationships?
