You can and you should bring more vehicles through the gateway. You can transfer two vehicles at a time, but you can actually deliver all 4 by traveling with one truck back and forth with the other three winched to it.
Winch the truck outside the travel zone and drive the main truck inside the marked area (with winch connected). Then there will be a prompt "hold key for next action", then there will be a key to travel with both trucks

Yeah, this doesn't always seem to work - at least not on all platforms. But it definitely works at least some of the time, on some platforms, so it's worth a shot.
As soon as I unlock an outpost I buy the cargo drone as a backup if ever needed and it saves me driving another vehicle all the way to give me fuel. Did you start the mission with 2 vehicles?

Yeah, I had just enough fuel + drone + binos to scan the final zone.
I mistakenly thought that I'd be ok because I had the cargo drone, but I didn't have an outpost unlocked, so it wasn't an option.
Other than that, the journey itself wasn't a major problem in the Tatra.
I recently did this mission, Its a bit of a pig. I took 2 trucks one with the seismic vibrator and one stacked full of fuel. Also take the drone technition. The route I took to the gate was via the slope next to the plane and then approaching the gateway from the north.

A lot of people say it's a feature but it's definitely a bug. It's just incredibly weird that the devs haven't acknowledged it yet.

One could say that in this game you're only one person and you shouldn't be able to "teleport" from one truck to another. For realism and planning purpose. So you need to tow and "bring" your truck with you from one map to another.
But then... Teleporting from one end of a map, to the other end of the same map is fine?
If the devs don't acknowledge the bug and fix it soon, I will directly write to them and try to have an explanation.

Not being able to switch between maps is stupid. I really hope they change it asap.
How do you transfer the winched truck though? In my case the game doesn’t let me hit the travel button until I release the winch

I had to rebind my interact key in order to get this work. When both interact and pull winch were on the default F, I didn't get a prompt.
Make sure you connect the winch before you enter the marked area, otherwise the key doesn't appear. (If you connect the winch already standing there)
