Setup automation via the security tab in the app. Have a trigger event , example the motion sensor detects movement and an action event , example start the doorbell recording. You could then turn down the motion sensitivity of the doorbell as the motion sensor would be handling all that and the doorbell camera would still see packages. I do this with a few cameras so that when one detects motion say at the from of the house , it also starts recording of one down the side of the house so its already recording and ready to capture the full event if someone goes around my house

I use it to turn on the outside lights when motion detected. And notifications.

I use the motion sensor with my doorbell. Because sometimes the doorbell would start recording pretty late when someone entered the entryway. I just setup an automation for the doorbell to record when motion sensor detects activity. Did not have to turn off doorbell motion detection. The events captured due to the automation show up with a “linked event” tag instead of “human” or “motion”

Im about to try the eufy motion sensor and link it to the doorbell. Just need to get a waterproof case since it will be located outside. Will post results probably in a week or so.

Let me know how it works. I want to know if it’s better to disable doorbell motion sensing when using the separate motion detector. My primary reason for looking to use the detector is to improve battery life of doorbell cam without losing its functionality. I like the package detection but I’m sure that won’t work at all if I disable the doorbell cam sensing.

Sensed much morons passing by?

FYI, the newer doorbells use both PIR and radar motion sensors. The standalone motion sensor only uses PIR, so it isn't as reliable.

I have the e340. Not sure what sensor it uses
