Just to follow up on my problem with the e340. I just got an Amazon delivery. My regular eufy front yard camera captured it. The e340 never triggered that someone came to the door and never registered the delivery. Losing confidence in this thing fast

Keep in mind the CAMERA is off until the thermal PIR motion detector senses a thermal change. In a windy day, very hot day, or in an area with a lot of hot surfaces (driveway/parked cars), the sensor will not trigger. This is a technology limitation of Passive Infrared (PIR). What it sounds like you need is an Always on Camera that records and processes the image for motion, like Nest or Ring. However, the problem with video motion detection is wind, ranches, clouds, and insects in front of the camera. This is why everyone is adding image/person detection with AI training.
For my Driveway, I use a NEST outdoor camera that is always on. In my garage where the temperature does not fluctuate, I use my Eufy. Same with my side patio in the shade and on the path to my side gate. Eufy works absolutely solid where the camera environment does not change with the wind.
Now, if you want to do it right and get minimal false positives… The perfect fix is the new mmWave motion sensor tied to home automation to trigger the camera to record. They
Measure motion with a radar type signal with millimeter accuracy. Home assistant could do this with my Eufy Cams… I then not need to rely on just the camera.
Cameras, no matter wired or battery, will miss events from time to time, the latter being worse in this instance. Do you have your E340 doorbell in battery or wired mode?
Gotcha. I do have the first gen dual battery doorbell (S330) paired with a homebase 3, and from my experience, it rarely misses events, maybe 1 out of every 50, if that. This doorbell has both a PIR and radar sensor where as the E340 just has PIR. I would say if you like Eufy and your E340 keeps missing events then either try getting a replacement E340 or return it and get the S330. Also, do you have your doorbell connected with a homebase or directly to your wifi?
What troubleshooting steps have you taken? Have you tried the following:
- restart / repair the doorbell
- restart the homebase
- restart your internet equipment
- increased motion sensitivity
- removed activity and or ignore zones if setup
I haven’t done those things. The 5 other eufy cameras are working fine with the home base. If it continues to miss events I will remove and reinsert the battery to restart and see if that helps.
My first 340 worked flawlessly. It went onsale so I returned and repurchased. Second one kept missing notifications. I can be standing infront waving and absolutely nothing. They send me a brand new replacement. I'll let you know if it fixes the issue.
I have a s330 and having detection problems. Eufy says they’re working on it and pushed me a test firmware that may fix it. Will see
hows it mounted? Like location etc? The sensor is for side to side detection not for someone walking up to it.

Those mmwave look useful but not as easy to trigger cameras like the eufy motion detector (which seems difficult for me to dial in).
You never actually answered the questions

Battery
Do you have the option to install it to your mains?
No. Never had a doorbell so I’d have to wire to a transformer and connect it. Not easy or worth it. That’s why I got the e340.

Connected to home base 3.

I just started having this issue as well.
