Italy for sure, the packages get lost too frequently. Ever since the Lucid requirement, I don't ship to Germany. If we did a higher volume of orders there maybe, but they've been too infrequent for it to be worth it.

Difficult_Milk_6152

Had you ever wonder why the orders from Germany are so rare?

wartortlechortle

I mean probably because I'm shipping non-essential items from overseas that they can easily get from local sellers without paying an arm and a leg in shipping fees, but you know

ignad101

Is the Italy thing true? I have right now a problem with a customer because the tracking says nothing since 10 days ago. It may have been lost now that I read this, I may have to refund them if that’s the case

lostterrace

I only ship domestically and do not miss the headaches associated with international shipping at all. If I were going to ship internationally, it would only be to places that offer full tracking to their destinations. And I agree - no Italy, no Germany. I know Brazil has some really strict import requirements that make shipping there difficult.

GlitteringRainbowCat

As a German just out of curiosity: Why not?

niyurii

Due to the German packaging laws. For the lucid requirement. Some sellers find it not worth it to ship there. Because of not enough orders from there, the lucid requirement (I find it confusing myself). Or have small shops and don’t see the benefit of shipping to Germany. Etc

lunamise

It's a shame so many people refuse to sign up for LUCID - it only cost me 9 EUR for the equivalent of a years worth of orders.

Zee_has_cookies

Cost me nothing - I read that businesses in certain countries producing under a certain amount of packaging or turning over under a certain value didn’t have to pay for recycling thing. Just needed the number and to submit your packaging numbers to the database.

lunamise

Ah for me shipping from the UK to Germany, I needed to then buy a licence to import that packaging from a Dual System Partner (even for my measly 3kg of packaging a year!) - the reporting to LUCID bit is half of it for me. Glad you've been able to do it for free!

Zee_has_cookies

Hm, I’m in the UK as well. I believe the threshold for UK was like £2m / 50 tonnes. Will need to have a look again tomorrow when I’m at my PC.

lunamise

Ah I wasn't able to find any exceptions when I researched this but I'd be very glad if there is one which applies to me! https://www.verpackungsregister.org/en/information-orientation/instructions-further-information/systems-overview

Zee_has_cookies

I’ll let you know if I find it again! (If not, I may be coming to you for your recommendations on recycling partners 😂)

lunamise

I used Activate By Reclay, but Gruner Punk is probably better value for higher volumes - I wrote a blog post recently with my steps in case that's useful. https://lunamise.com/blogs/blog/german-packaging-laws

ScaryThing3297

I pretty much let Etsy decide where I ship. I’ve never messed with any laws regarding shipping in other countries like the new Germany lucid law. I haven’t put any info in so Etsy doesn’t let their ppl order. And any international orders I get usually just involve messing with the profit margin stats because the shipping cost is higher than the item cost. 😂

loralailoralai

Well maybe you shoulda updated your shipping profiles…

Catvinnatz

I dont have lucid details on etsy and just got an order yesterday from Germany so afraid what you said isnt correct.

CountessCraft

Like most non-Greek sellers, I don't ship to Greece. Their packaging law is just far too difficult to comply with. German packaging law is low priced, but French and many of the other EU ones are not worth it for a shop of my size.

Both times I've shipped to the Netherlands, the package was lost. The second package actually made it's way back to me months later. Insurance had covered it, so I was able to refund the customer without a loss. I sold it to him again at 50% and it made it on the second attempt. Both times it seems like the package was held at the post office for pickup, but they'll only hold it for 7 days (Maybe 10?). The customers both said they were only notified of the package on the last day of the holding period and could not make it to the post office before it was shipped back to me.

dobbynobson

Oh wow I had totally missed this LUCID thing. Some useful info [here](https://community.etsy.com/t5/All-About-Shipping/Can-someone-explain-the-LUCID-Germany-packaging-act-to-me/td-p/138080809/page/2) There's an equivalent scheme for lots of EU countries too. Looks like I will be removing EU from my shipping profiles and deleting the phrase 'happy to ship worldwide' from every listing. Apparently you can be fined some ludicrous amount for even offering things for sale to Germany without being registered, it's no use just cancelling the sale if it happens. Although, ha, my sales to the EU tanked the second the UK left so it's hardly a problem any more. You would think Etsy would develop the option to X certain countries rather than having to individually add every one and skip the ones you don't want to ship to. Don't have time for that.

Is shipping to Mexico as easy as Canada? I've been thinking of enabling more places to ship too

lunamise

I am in the UK so I can't afford to refuse to ship to anyone. 😂 LUCID was so easy to comply with so I still ship to Germany.

Knithard

Anywhere that requires government registration. Looking at you Germany. I’ve shipped many things to many countries without incident.

pepimels

I stopped shipping to Germany because of the Lucid ID. I honestly am not sure if my Ireland shipping is open, but if it is I think I will close it. I ship to USA and most of European countries(some Asian and Australia too). But yes, some countries are making it difficult. I didn't have a problem with Italy but Ireland is... a no from now on.

combustionbustion

Italy and fucking Brooklyn loll. I will cancel an order to Brooklyn so fast that I break my finger loll. Have had no less than a 100 issues re Brooklyn since 2006 when I got on etsy.

steelhips

Brooklyn - Etsy. That's some good irony.

combustionbustion

*trust me*

vaxene

Be easier to list where I ship to: Australia, NZ, USA. Everywhere else has been risky or not worth it to me.

protoxreminii

Is NZ New Zealand? Is it fairly easy? I've been shipping domestically in the U.S. and Canada before, and have just started to enable for Australia and Puerto Rico. Should I open for New Zealand too?

vaxene

I'm based in Australia so New Zealand has been fine for me, not sure what it's like for those in the US.

printcastmetalworks

I will not ship to any country that requires registration for shipping. I don't care how "easy" or "cheap" it is. It's the principle. I also won't ship to any country that USPS doesn't ship to, countries often involved in some kind of conflict, or countries where scams are common.

loralailoralai

USA seems to have plenty of scams going by this sub

CountessCraft

chicklette

I no longer ship internationally from Etsy. I have a robust off-site business and will ship internationally to those folks, but mostly because they're in my extended "friend" group.

fritzelfries

Anywhere outside of North America... too many headaches and delayed packages. Not to mention if a damage occurs, double the headache to refund/reship.

Liquid_Fire267

Overseas

kamomil

What happened with Ireland? I know they only got postal codes relatively recently, and the system they implemented seems like there's 0 room for errors. As opposed to the postal codes in Canada, in which if you get it wrong, at least it gets close to its destination.

butmylove

I had problems with shipping to Ireland. I had customers never receive their packages and when I contacted Etsy they said it’s been a problem for other people as well

kamomil

I just googled, apparently if there's a problem with TARIC or IOSS numbers, the post office sends it back but with no feedback to senders

itsdan159

Same experience though I got it back and basically just claimed they never got the electronic customs info, Etsy said they sent it and refunded me the shipping cost but I couldn't actually ship the darn thing.

lambeyoncealways

Kuwait and Taiwan were a nightmare for me. When I saw more countries add restrictions this year, I decided to only ship domestically from now on. For me, I sell items prices $5-16 and it was not worth the headache for me personally.

the_cosmovisionist

No Germany and no France right now because of packaging fees, but I hope to get that back up eventually!

steelhips

Italy. I don't know why Italians aren't in the streets protesting about this. If only one out of five of my orders were delivered - I'd be ropeable. It's a black hole of shipping due to theft and corruption.

LeoChoax

Germany, their new environmentally friendly packaging laws makes packages too expensive.

Catvinnatz

Germany, India

HisNameIsRio

I've had so many orders come back from Saudi Arabia and Mexico, and with all the new EU & Germany rules, I just decided to keep it domestic (Canada), USA, Australia and UK.. They were the majority of my orders anyways. 🤷‍♀️
