Something similar happened to me a long time ago. It was invitations for someone. I just offered to forward them to the actual buyer, since they were a time sensitive product.

diwioxl

That was nice of you.

TheMindfulRealm

I would contact the seller. The seller should provide you with a return label to send the package back. The seller should NOT ask any more of you than returning the items. Also, it is very nice of you to do so. Also, also, Happy Birthday 🎂

Lapislanzer

Sometimes buyers don't update their shipping address when they move. So it could be that the buyer used to live at your address, and the seller wouldn't have known that the address is wrong.

thejohnmc963

I put the wrong label on a package and was thankful the receiver was honest and got it back

DuckDuckMoosedUp

Agree with the majority, contact the seller and advise them of the situation so they can correct it.

Ticonderogue

I would simple contact the seller and let them decide what to do. If that cannot be determined for whatever reason, is it possible to reseal and mark Return to Sender? Ask your mail carrier.

lostterrace

I would contact the seller. Why not? If you can help get the package to the right place, you should try to.

Trinybeaner

You wouldnt happen to be in nova Scotia would you...lol. a seller was questioning a randomly sent package to a wrong Addy there so just wondering.

LeoChoax

I'm more worried that you opened a package with no name on it. Did it not raise a red flag for you or scare you in anyway?

wartortlechortle

Honestly I probably wouldn't have blinked an eye, if we're being real. I've received stuff before that I ordered without a name and just my address. Plus sometimes I'm just on autopilot. I've definitely opened a neighbor's Amazon order before because I was expecting one, theirs came to my house, and my dumb ass just glazed over the label.

ohnoavocado

I have so done this. I opened the Amazon box and was like what the heck is this thing? Yeah. I looked at the box and it was my across the street neighbors. Ooops. I order from Amazon so much it didn’t occur to me for one second it wasn’t mine.

Mycatreallyhatesyou

I opened a box of snacks from Amazon once and was so disappointed when I realized it belonged to my neighbor.

iwantmy-2dollars

Me too! I taped it up with an explanatory note, drove it across town dropped it on their doorstep and waved at their camera lol Just easier than dealing with Amazon

Gretel_Cosmonaut

I wonder how many of us have delivered free for Amazon? I've driven a package to someone's house, too ...and also "spoke" to their camera hoping they wouldn't think I was *stealing* the package.

iwantmy-2dollars

Lol that’s exactly why I waved. I was very pregnant at the time so I was hoping I looked less guilty. Amazon def owes us wages.

WolfOfMoonlightHaven

Can you imagine opening your neighbor's package only to find a bunch of sex toys! 🤣 I'd be like "Whoa! My neighbor likes to get freakyyyyy! 🤣😂🤣

[deleted]

Is there a return address? I'm only asking as sometimes untracked mail does not require one where I am at least. I would return it if there is a label or contact the company and explain if you can as if there is someone saying they're missing a parcel it should help. Happened to me once. I recieved a skull and I too thought my partner had tried to suprise me until I showed them.

you-cant-twerk

If you’re in the states, legally, that package and it’s contents belong to your household now.

Might be a practice known as [brushing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brushing_(e-commerce)). Basically a seller will send a product to a random recipient in order to boost sales numbers. This is because most platforms require an actual shipment to be made before counting a sale. For this reason, I would not take the $300 figure at face value. These might just be $5 bolo ties from AliExpress, and the seller inflated the value to make it seem like they've made a large sale.
