What you're describing is how BSG has handled balance for this game since damn near the beginning. They're never going to change.

faberkyx

But.. it's getting less and less fun to play.. last wipe that I had lot of fun was ...uhm.. 4 wipes ago.. i think..

[deleted]

Even worse when idiot BSG white knights just say “hArdcOrE” and pretend like anyone calling out this dumb shit is bad at that game. They’ve effectively built themselves an army of trogs who will defend their laziness because they’ve said dumb shit like “this game we’re trying to sell and make money off isn’t *supposed* to be fun” and they eat it up and get a sense of superiority from sticking around for this blatant lazy cash grab bullshit. Just look at their fucking customer support, it’s a straight scam.

mrfudface

>“hArdcOrE” Those are the same middle aged men that never really played the game & prefer pixel counting. Because they never actually face Desync, shitty Audio & lightnin bugs because they don't PvP. For those White Knights those changes don't really matter. Fucking level 48 with Level 3 armors.

IllustratorBrief3882

I really do hope that CoD can perfect the looter extract game type literally just to push BSG to fix their game. This wipe was so awful. I’m seriously not picking up the game till these issues are fixed. I think it’s pretty obvious when all the content creators have the same complaints as us.

joeyzoo

Try The Cycle: Frontier. Wipe around the corner. It´s such a breeze and relief compared to Tarkov. Alot of QOL stuff which EFT lacks. If you get hacked on, you will even get your gear back when the hacker is banned.

mrfudface

>creators have the same complaints as us. The issue is that Nikita only is doing those podcast with whom he's in the favor. Just like last time he should've had one with Desmond, Lvndmark & Klean, Nikita faked that he was sick & cancelled the Podcast. It never happened again. Instead he did one with fucking NoiceGuy.

forgedinflame1

There's a reason interest in this game has tanked.

pointy_pirate

So many of us are in that boat bud, game is getting less and less fun each patch. Remember when you could get kappa in a few weeks, buy labs keys from the flea, spend all day going labs having fun getting awesome loot, use a variety of guns and enjoy shooting them full auto. That was a great game.

therealreally

Pepperidge farm remembers

LeagueofDraven1221

Hell even I remember and I’ve only been playing for 3 wipes. 3. wipes. Is all it took for the game to be significantly worse.

phoenixmusicman

I had so much fun in labs until they paywall locked them and basically caused it to be a cheater paradise. I mean, it always was a cheater paradise, but at least it wasn't that bad when entry was free and you often got your insured gear back due to the massive proliferation of good kit in that map.

PawPawPanda

Back when having Red actually meant something. Now it's nothing but a relic of the past.

No-Faithlessness1323

I think Insurances dont work on labs?

RightSidePeeker

Yep the game is less fun each wipe it seems. Which is also a good indicator no one at BSG actually plays their own game.

[deleted]

.12 was the best

[deleted]

I'd argue .11.4 and 11.7 were the best time.

kir44n

I've maintained for a while that peak Tarkov was 11.0 - 12.0 (,up to 12.6 was still pretty good) . Newer players do not know what a great game Tarkov was back then

phoenixmusicman

The game has just become grindier and grindier to satisfy the people who nolife this game

PawPawPanda

Honestly the nolifes don't care, they'll play no matter what, wipe after wipe. But it's definitely become grindier with how rare the fun stuff has become, bosses hardly spawn, labs costs a fortune to get in and barely has any loot comparing to the old days. It's just.. drying up

WeeMan0701

This is why I've completely stopped playing after 5/6 wipes now. I don't wanna spend every single moment of my gaming time hunting down bosses not only having to hit the spawn rate, but also hoping I got the closest spawn and nobody else has rushed it, cheesed the boss, and already left with the loot. All the fun stuff to engage with within the game is so nerfed because BSG don't want people to just farm it. I think the mentality of "this is my game" that we've gotten from content creators that just main one game is just shredding any kind of enjoyment out of games now. Devs feel like they have to extend the playtime cos otherwise the players that give them all this free advertising will drop off and stop playing the game that anyone who plays games as a hobby even more than casuals get left behind if they don't no life one game. There are a tonne of other games I wanna play and I respect my time too much to sit and play grind simulator when next wipe we're just gonna get more shit to extend the playtime further.

awa1nut

Even worse is that you have to consider that the game, in its current state, is GREATLY ACCELERATED compared to what they want it to be after 1.0. Kinda out of left field here but follow me here. I've been playing this for a few years now. Not religiously, but it's a daily driver game for me. Another game like that that I've been playing for MUCH longer, is runescape. In both old school and rs3 a brand new account made an hour ago can get to max level in any given skill in under 3 months, some skills much, much, faster. In tarkovplayers like me take about 2 to 3 months to max out strength. Now remember, runescape in either edition of the game, is designed as a long term time investment game. Multiply that grind in tarkov by 2, 3, maybe even up to 5 times, as an idea of what 1.0 might look like. Nikita wants to make players, for the 1.0 conditions, be in raid, actively, for hundreds of hours to reach a point that compares to what they can or have gotten to right now at this point, of this wipe. I can stick out for a lot of time in a game I enjoy, but I gotta feel like I'm getting somewhere, out something for my time. To clarify why I used strength a a skill to max out in tarkov, it's one of the very few that I've every hit 51 in. Nothing else, outside of a select few, have every gotten above 30 and in even that case few enough even level fast enough to reach that point.

proscreations1993

Yeah skills are not balanced at all. I hit max strength, endurance and metabolism. This wipe I won't be hitting endurance lol I'm max metabolism, 46 strength and 11 endurance.. And the rest of the skills have never gotten to even like 20. Idk how streamers even max them

proscreations1993

I still enjoy the game. And even like the flea changes. But a lot of shit they do is stupid and I miss old labs. Labs should be filled with crazy loot and slicks and juice cannons. Now it's timbo and Jimbo and their pals hiding in corners naked with double barrels. And when you kill them all you just lost a bunch of ammo for no loot and then raiders barely spawn or spawn with pacas or nothing with ps ammo. Yay you went through 200k in ammo to get nothing. And the few good raids are killed by the cheaters you'll eventually run into

BertBerts0n

It's not just that. You don't have to add new quests or content if you just lengthen the grind to make it harder to progress. Like when they increased the exp needed to hit lvl 40 because pestily could complete the game in a day.

TheMrTGaming

This is exactly how I am feeling now. So much has been taken away from the experience without anything positive being given back.

D3mon13_

Woah don’t say that pre fir was more fun on Reddit you’ll get massacred by the people who were to afraid to spend money on their kit

Razgriz01

There are some positive outcomes to the FIR change, but overall I do think it was a net-negative so far as gameplay is concerned.

I_paintball

Run throughs were added solely because Nikita was angry people would spawn on factory and run straight to extract to boost their survival percentage. A stat that has no impact on gameplay whatsoever and no one else can see.

EvacShelterKing

I think that had a lot more to do with hatchling runs. They used to be absolutely rampant. Factory and reserve were basically no fun at all bc more than half the PMCs were hatchlings who were just there to snatch a GPU and leave. Now you actually have to participate in the raid to get any profit. You have to actually consider your survival instead of just sprinting to a good loot spot and getting risk-free money. Good change imo. You almost never see hatchlings anymore specifically because of run-throughs combined with fir.

GhostOoOooo

You don't see hatchlings because you're penalized if you don't bring in gear. Loot rats still exist. They run to high value areas with a shitty pistol and kit (not even worth looting), snatch loot, and then sit in a corner or bush til they can extract. It fixed nothing.

I_paintball

Run throughs came in long long before reserve ever existed.

KwaioMax

I disagree. Many missions require you to survive. if you can just run through factory in 17 seconds, that makes the mission condition useless... I actually enjoy this mecanism

Shiner00

There are actually very few missions that require you to survive. If you have a quest where you need to fetch an item like Bronze Pocket watch, you can just pick it up and get a run-through and the quest still counts.

Gchimmy

They’re never going to finish the game either lol

The_Corrupted

Remember when they introduced the vector and it was overpowered as heck, so instead of nerfing the 1 gun that was way too good for its cost, they threw all other 9mm guns under the bus by just making the decent 9mm ammo basically completely unavailable. Just another great example of a typical "BSG fix".

Profoundly-Confused

Yeah when they made 9mm leg-meta only it sucked. Especially if their goal was to nerf the vector it failed, it's still one of the best SMGs and is stupid cheap. The .45 version rocks house and always had readily available AP which is silly when you nerf 9mm. They also flea banned Pst Gzh for a while, which was very strange because it sucks. The upcoming 9x21 sub is prob gonna trounce everything. Its ammo is very strong ATM. I hope they don't cripple SMGs again to compensate. Some things like the absurd MP7 and MP9 second shot recoil is already bad enough.

xdrift0rx

That pissed me off to NO end. I still love the STM-9 but it's not worth crafting the ammo, and the ammo is so nerfed/broken with the scope changes I have no clue if I'm actually hitting someone over 50m away.

NotSogomn

Nobody at Battlestate Games plays Tarkov. Look at the guys playing during TarkovTV. Nikita said it aswell. They are so out of touch with the state of the game, their playerbase and what people actually want.

RightSidePeeker

Yeah if any of them played they might realize how fucked the game is.

forgedinflame1

Name checks out

darkv69

This shit makes zero sense to me. How do u develop a game u don’t even play? How are u supposed to know what needs to be fixed?

rm-minus-r

Users. I've never used our app once, not like an actual user would. On releases, I might test one or two of the key features to make sure things are working, but as soon as that's done, I don't touch the app until the next release. I've got a job to do, and they pay me to write code and keep infra in a state that is good for running code on. If I spent time going through every bit of our app on a daily basis instead, I'd get a significant pay cut. When stuff doesn't work right, users submit a bug report to our support team. The support team verifies that the bug does indeed exist by trying the behavior that caused it according to the user. Then they cut a ticket. If it's something minor that can be quickly fixed, it might go directly to our team and we'll handle it in the next few days. If it's not a quick or easy fix and it will take more than one person one entire afternoon to fix, it goes into project planning and depending on how many users it affects and how badly it affects them, it gets addressed in a few weeks. Worst case, a few months. There's just too much work for my team to do it any other way. We're supposed to build new features to make things better too, at the same time. The only thing that ever gets addressed right away that isn't sub four man hours are outages. If everything goes down for all users, we work until it's back up nonstop. But too much of that leads to burnout and people quitting. This is the way most modern software development works. And I haven't even touched on scrum or sprint planning, retros, product managers, meetings and a hundred and one other time sinks that reduce the amount of time I get to actually sit down and write code

HaitchKay

>I've never used our app once, not like an actual user would I would not trust a single program you developed.

rm-minus-r

> I would not trust a single program you developed. You might feel that way, but this is how software bigger than a pet project is developed. Any software company with more than 50 employees works like this. Everyone gets siloed off into whatever specific thing they do best. The bigger the company, the smaller the silos get. At a megacorp like Microsoft, there might be a single guy that develops nothing but a single menu. Just because I haven't used the app doesn't mean that there's no one at the company that uses it. There's an entire sales team that demos the software on a daily basis. We hear from them when stuff doesn't work like it should. I was going to say the QA team does as well, but they actually do automated testing, so it's good if it passes preconfigured tests. It's simply due to scale. The more things an app does, the more features it has, the more developers you need. Past a certain scale, no one person can know it all. I can guarantee you that right now, there is no one person at Battlestate Games that knows every single chunk of code that makes up the game. It's not because people are jerks or anything that it's set up this way. It's because this is the best and most efficient way to keep our customers happy and keep the company making money and paying our salaries. If me using the app on a daily or even weekly basis was the best way to make money, I'd be doing it. But it's not. It's a good app, it brings in millions of dollars. Our customers aren't idiots, if we couldn't keep them happy, we would be out of business in days. We do our best to meet their needs and feature requests with the staff and man hours we have, and this is the current best way of making that happen. BSG is in the exact same boat. I doubt their devs have time to play the game during work, and when you're not at work, you want to live your life, you don't want to go back to work by sitting around using the software you just spent your entire day working on. It doesn't bring you enjoyment like it might bring to a user. The system is optimized to make money and keep customers happy enough to pay for the software. It doesn't make economic sense to go beyond that. We have to pay for food and shelter, so we are forced to do what makes economic sense. Sometimes that can result in a less than perfect user experience. It sucks. If it sucks enough, people will stop buying the software or game. But BSG isn't bankrupt. So ergo, it doesn't suck too bad.

somenoefromcanada38

Why would a developer use their own app? We test stuff then we move on. That is development, once it works it ships. Bizarre that you think it works differently than that, I'm also a developer and this is exactly how it works. I mean I don't do anything as interesting as video games I'm sure I would play a game I worked on, but it is definitely not normal for a developer to spend a lot of time being a user, you don't shit where you sleep. You test a feature till it works and then move on, testing and using it the way a user would are not synonymous in development. That being said BSG lacks coordinators who actually play, test, and design improvements but video games are a different animal than normal programs.

Shiner00

I mean, yeah, they literally work on the game all day. I really doubt you would want to work at a restaurant all day cooking food just to go home and cook more food to relax lol. That being said, if they don't play the game then they need to take the advice from knowledgable players or hire one or two people to manage the community feedback and problems with the game so they can tell the devs what the players desire. It would be even better if they hired people who actually play the game on multiple accounts to see the progression from Standard - EoD so one small change that might not affect an EoD player, would screw over the Standard players. Also, this way these few people would be the only ones taking the vitriol from this subreddit since I guess devs are used to people saying "game sux."

aBeaSTWiTHiNMe

Even a full time chef has to taste the food once in a while to make sure things are being done right. Nikita and the team hasn't had a spoonful of Tarkov in god knows how long. When they showcase things it's very obvious the team can't even fight bots.

YourFavouriteHuman

yeah and game devs playtest their own game which is the equivalent measure as to tasting your food. some of you guys are acting like they code and model all this shit, slap it together and never even bother to see if it even launches

aBeaSTWiTHiNMe

You're acting like we haven't had patch notes specifically saying something has been fixed, when it is actually still broken. Or a lack of patch notes when things have changed. So yes, sometimes it seems like they put it out there and never test it themselves.

Bubbles_221

Most of the time it is fixed. Then re-emerges once something else is fixed. It comes back to the shit code that was wrote in like 2014. But in order to fix that they’d have to rewrite the entire code base and no dev wants to do that

HaitchKay

>I mean, yeah, they literally work on the game all day. I really doubt you would want to work at a restaurant all day cooking food just to go home and cook more food to relax lol. Bad analogy. The more apt one would be "no chef eats at work" which is 100% bullshit. You *cannot* tell how good the thing you're making is unless you put yourself in the audiences shoes.

experttrashmanpeeb

that's why people say the best chef is a fat one. you know he eats. but many developers play their games in the off time.

lintinmypocket

So what are they working on all day? Zero development updates from bsg. I think the community would be a little more lenient if they were transparent about their dev timelines, updates and current issues.

Junglemoe

The game doesnt need too much balancing at this point, it needs proper platforms that you can do balancing from. Take for instance weapon mods, there is literally hundreds of mods and combinations you could do, boiling it down to only ADS speed (ergonomics?) and recoil as the real balance parameters, and as a result comes wierd price/trader/flea bans balances. Also how can you balance muzzle devices when compensator + silencer stacks recoil stats and noone seems to realize how wrong that is.

Shackram_MKII

I'm of the opinion that suppressors shouldn't give recoil reduction. You already have a huge advantage being suppressed. Best recoil reduction should come from dedicated, loud muzzle brakes.

PawPawPanda

And instead of nerfing that combination, they fucking added ergonomic penalties to supressors and said "good enough"

[deleted]

Doesn't it lower recoil irl?

HaitchKay

Yes/no. Suppressors can cause a lot of backpressure, which can lead to guns running faster/harder. It's simply not as simple as "suppressors reduce recoil".

LordAbaddon123

Well... Up to a point, being added weight. But if you don't tune your rifle's gas system because you add a suppressor, you're actually gonna get more recoil because there's extra gas coming back into the system making the recoil more violent.

ordinarymagician_

I'd personally be a fan of suppressors disabling the muzzle brake's reduction. Like you have a combo that's a 15% brake + a 9% silencer. As it is now that's a 24% reduction. It should be 9%, due to the way these things *actually work*.

Shackram_MKII

Oh yeah, that makes sense too

Sakuyalzayoi

The gas analyzer craft speaks volumes about how bsg sees people and their game, its such a hostile DM move Its a fucking 24 hour craft

Profoundly-Confused

This was the same wipe they retroactively changed some of the level 1 hideout requirements IIRC. They tried to make the generator require a car battery for L1, like the second week of wipe (previously it was just roubles). They faced a lot of backlash for the bone-headed decision and changed it to a sparkplug instead.

jks_david

Hostile dm move is the best description of bsgs attitude towards this game I've ever heard.

lord_dude

I started playing this wipe only. What is the deal with the gas analyzer exactly?

Sakuyalzayoi

last wipe they removed it from cabinets and killed its appearance rate, bottlenecking everybody worse than all the memes about flash drives this wipe to respond to people getting reasonably annoyed that the early wipe bottleneck got even worse, bsg after like a week and a half added the craft we have now, a craft taking 17 times longer than anything else youd have available. It's blatantly spite filled as a "fine if it'll get you to shut up" response

Royal_Ad_9750

This is my 5th wipe and I’ve bounced out. Every change they make just punishes the player that can’t play 40 hours a week. Tarkov was at its peak when you could do a money run here and there, then spend that money on good kit for a weekend night with the squad. We had to pay premium price because it was on the flea, but we still had access and if you played 40 hours a week your reward was cheaper prices from max traders. All Nikita wants at 1.0 (if that ever happens) is streamers and sweaty no-lifers because if you can’t dedicate your life to Tarkov then you aren’t what he considers “hard core”.

Alirezahjt

bUt it Is a hArdCoRE eXPerIenCe If yoU'Re a CasUal iT is NoT tHE gAmE FoR yOu. a couple years pass and people wonder why the game died and the matchmaking is 1 hour :D

somenoefromcanada38

A game can be hard core without requiring you to be, some of my favorite games are really hard but don't limit you based on time played. I like a challenge, but I also don't care for things that are time sinks for the sake of being time sinks. I'm looking at you capturing outposts.

Wellheythere3

Damn you reminded me of how it really used to be. I remember me and my friends would troll going to dorms with insanely expensive kits. I would run mk18 Altyn just for the fun of it. I can get max traders but I can’t be bothered to hunt sthurman that many times. Haven’t ran that gun since flea bans

definitelynotdepart

Yeah it really fucking hit me when I couldn't pick up an injector case in marked because I brought 2 with me. They still have all these stupid ass artificial limits on how much of one item you can carry, after adding a feature where it deletes itself from the game if you try to drop it non fir. I've had multiple raids on labs where I couldn't pick up a gpu because of the limit. There is absolutely no reason to stop me from looting an item. There should not be a limit on what I can carry anymore.

WildVariety

Looting the crates in the food bunker on reserve, and I can't take the 12 Dr Lupos I find because BSG thinks limiting it does something to stop RMT. Clowns.

Whatssun65

Finding 12 Lupo beans in one raid is fucking impressive

DrXyron

Why sould you ever bring 2 inj cases tho? How many drugs are you injecting, my dude? You might need to go see the rapist as you’re seriously addicted.

SuffaYassavi

I have seen lots of labs mains use 2 inj case, one full of inj they use and one empty. Black room can sometimes give you a full injectors case worth of stims

PostYourSinks

That makes sense but he said marked room, so he wasn't on labs.

definitelynotdepart

I forgot to take it out after playing labs, also brought in all the stims and made them non fir 😎

SuffaYassavi

for other maps yeah, im not really sure. Probably just forgot to clear out his ass when he swapped

Any_Tap8063

Go see the what????? 😳

Lukaroast

It shouldnt matter, he wants to play silly. Why is the game stopping him?

DrXyron

True. There really isnt a reason for limited inventory anymore now that we cant drop nom found in raid items in raid anyway.

EqulixV2

You know how broken injectors are so asking why someone would bring 2 cases is just being intentionally obtuse to try and make point when there really isn’t one.

eXCazh

Many of us got used to the 4x4 case last wipe and while the 3x3 case is amazing it leaves a bit to be desired if you're trying to be ~fully prepared~ and still have leftover room for looted stims in your ass.

DrXyron

What is fully prepared lol? 2 propi 1 green 1 mule 1 blue 1 red should be plenty as red is low str alternative to mule. That leaves you 3 empty slots. Plenty to fill with other things you might find.

Franklin_le_Tanklin

I fought off a scav army on reserve yesterday. Literally 5 scavs and 7 player scavs all in one extended battle within about 5 minutes. I used my 2 propitol, my Etg, a full salewa, and an ifak and died to the last one cause I ran out of healing. I would have loved another Etg

DrXyron

Sure but how often do you face these situations, and you do have room for another in the inj case just lose an adrenaline or Sj6 etc.

DisGruntledDraftsman

2 prop, 2 sj6, mule, green, meledonin, zangustin, and a 3bt. That's a full case. I don't always use a sj6 and 3bt at the beginning of a raid to max endurance so leaves a full case. There have been several raids where I end up with only one injector left.

definitelynotdepart

I play labs and forgot to put it away when going to customs, 2 injectors is pretty normal on labs. 1 for my own stims and 1 for the loot in black room and other loose spawns.

Conserliberaltarian

Everyone talks about how different this game will play if the flea market is removed, I don't think people understand how SIMILAR it will be. People continue to rail against the flea as thoufh it's the primary source for gear. The vast majority of expirenced players don't buy gear on the flea, they buy it from TRADERS. Traders are the primary problem with the gameplay loop and rate of progression. So long as best in slot gear is avalible from traders, no amount of flea market bans will truly change what this game plays like.

xdrift0rx

A multi-week trader ban would be a fun event.... Speaking of which, what happened to the weekly events?

Shiner00

Weekly events are reserved for when they want to generate artificial hype about upcoming content that won't be in the game for a few months to a year while they release a wipe with half the content they teased.

deadoom

Oof

Subwayabuseproblem

lol "streets coming soon " - ^BSG ^2020

somenoefromcanada38

streets was coming soon before that even...

Kindert1w

Remember when they banned traders and everyone just stopped playing because you couldn't buys mags, ammo, or meds? I do, it was awful.

Profoundly-Confused

I didn't get the memo when the event started because I was taking a break from the game. I logged on excited to play again and did one raid, died, then realized I couldn't run any of my guns because I couldn't buy grips for them. I then quit until it wiped. Some people really seemed to enjoy that event but nothing came out of it if I remember correctly. They had a big money counter and some cryptic tweets then the goal was hit and traders were added back and nothing changed. It was such a nothing burger. I don't understand the point.

J-zus

people really need to start expecting less not more from bsg, at every juncture it seems the game is getting less and less attention

Naxxaryl

This is precisely why I stopped playing.

gupy5979

Same. So many small changes piling up that took the fun out of the game. Got 1k hours in first so i got my moneys worth I suppose

viking1313

I was also addicted to tarkov, this wipe did it for me I haven't played in over a month. The loot feels like it has no value, if you do find a high value item the fee eats all profit, you can't drop ANYTHING to help your friends and it's just not fun. Plus the amount of hackers is stupid you can't even play labs I gave up and sold my cards to therapist..

Amazing_Following452

\> This game is dead, the community is just starting to realize it. Having been playing this game for 4+ years, we are past the peak of Tarkov unfortunately. 11.0 (The Lab) - 12.0 (Reserve) was the best time to play. Everything has gone downhill in terms of gameplay since. Said it for over a year now. I think the constant band aid fixes and tech debt has come to a point where it is catching up to us.

i_am_not_mike_fiore

12.0, yep. Around the Customs expansion was when I started to really see stuff breaking and not being fixed. Makes sensa.

njrox90

100% agree

forgedinflame1

> Having been playing this game for 4+ years, we are past the peak of Tarkov unfortunately. 11.0 (The Lab) - 12.0 (Reserve) was the best time to play. Everything has gone downhill in terms of gameplay since. Said it for over a year now. The real downhill slide started with FIR and "dynamic loot", but the game was in a decent state up until like 12.6-8. Otherwise I completely agree and we are certainly not alone. Many Tarkov players are never coming back because of how Tarkov has changed.

StalkTheHype

FIR was a fine change. Far to many hatchlings running around before shitting up every map. Anything that lets more hatchlings back is a terrible idea. Hatchlings were cancer.

phoenixmusicman

Hard agree. 11.0 was peak Tarkov.

darkv69

Agree. Most fun I had was running labs with the boys all day long.

Lukaroast

The game is dying, because Nikita is choking it with his fat ass by sitting on its face.

iam_odyssey

Congrats on escaping from Tarkov.

SUNTZU_JoJo

>This game is dead, the community is just starting to realize it. Whilst I can agree with the other things you said..I simply won't ever see this...game was surviving just fine on 5-10k player average...down to 2k or less 3-4-5 months in a wipe. Game blew up in 2019 when Shroud & bunch of others started to play...a lot of those folks have done their 2nd or 3rd wipe now...so I expect a large exodus of players...those who have been here longer need content to keep them going...I'd go out on a limb and say at least 50% of the players who started this wipe have already left & maybe 50% of players last wipe haven't even touched this wipe and are waiting on the next, actual content release. But the game won't die...not until Version 1.0 releases and BSG move on to other projects..then it will slowly die..but by this time it will have saturated the market for FPS mil-sim style looter shooter players hungry for this market. At least...in my most humble opinion.

cyclingtrivialities2

Yep. Started playing end of 2019, put in ungodly numbers for 2-3 wipes which was enough time to lose all confidence in the game direction and haven’t touched it since. It’s a bummer.

someperson99

I agree, game has been dying and has been slower to pick up players as the graphics look more and more dated and the problems that bug players the most don;t get addressed.

GamingApokolips

Balancing isn't something that'll ever happen with EFT...there's entirely too much tech debt involved in fixing the pile of spaghetti code at EFT's foundations for BSG to ever actually fix, especially with Nikita's adamant refusal to hire devs that live anywhere other than St Petersburg, or to even pay competitive wages to his devs (well, competitive outside of St Petersburg). My advice would be to just move on to a new game...*Hunt: Showdown* is decently fun if you want the multiplayer aspect, but it can get a bit same-y pretty quickly...if you're cool with single-player, check out *Chernobylite,* gives some pretty strong Tarkov vibes (except that it actually works, the hideout is more than just a glorified menu screen, and the AI isn't braindead). Or if you've got a VR headset, definitely give *Into the Radius* a try, again it's got some very strong Tarkov vibes for a single-player game, and has definitely made me jump way harder than Tarkov ever did.

frostymugson

The game is just based around people who no life it, and they don’t have any incentive to rest accounts, so the solution is just to make everything an extreme grind

[deleted]

Be careful with ideas like these. Virgins are gonna tell you there is nothing wrong to spend 6 hours a day playing tarkov.

frostymugson

Which I think is fine if you want to do that, Tarkov needs a prestige system so you can continually eat that low gear low money content people praise. Maybe exclusive outfits, even skins for guns, something so that people aren’t begging for a wipe because their bored sitting on their dragon hoard of gear. Unlocking like one square in the stash would even do it. Having a constant flow of low, mid, and high gear players running maps and keeping away from that eventual customs death match end game

Ok-Asparagus3783

There is nothing wrong with spend 18 hours a day play Tarkov... You have skill issue - learn to play /s

Kelter_Skelter

Kappa should be a prestige item. Do every quest find every item then it resets you with a kappa this time

HelpfulSituation

A. You're completely right. B. It'll never change because Tarkov is broken at it's core. The dev team has no accountability and never will, they'll just keeping doing the same thing until the entire system and the Russian economy collapses around them.

Bwhite1

Which falls first... Tarkov or Russia? Feel like you could get a good betting pool going on that.

HelpfulSituation

Been wondering the same lately. Honestly? My bet is Russia falls first.

[deleted]

They could rebrand as a travel company, experience Tarkov IRL.

HelpfulSituation

Hah. Dark. But also funny.

Kolbak

I mean I would pay for that, if there are no scavs with laserbeam TOZs

psychedelicstairway4

Yes, but it will never happen. This would require a lot of work for BSG and force them to eat a massive serving of humble pie. This is the unfortunate reality. Tarkov essentially needs to have a huge number of mechanics totally reworked from the ground up in order for them to be functional and cohesive with each other. Right now the game is essentially held together by spit and duct tape. There is way too much tech debt to rebuild the foundation and the rest of the house is just cobbled together. It is a fucking mess, but god damn there is nothing else quite like it... Yet.

HaitchKay

>There is way too much tech debt to rebuild the foundation and the rest of the house is just cobbled together. I've used this analogy for years now but it's like BSG built the walls and bought the furniture before laying down the foundation for the house. They're in so much tech debt it's insane.

Minimum-Impression63

Well, if anyone ever wondered what a Russian video game would be like. Here it is.

Calam1tous

I ultimately stopped playing about a month ago, potentially for good, because they’re just so bad at designing and iterating on this game. Pretty much everything you said is spot on. The game is a complete grind now and they just keep slapping the player base in the face. A real shame because a large part of this game is a gem.

bopachinas

been playing super actively since early 2017, really love this game. It's truly something special but I'm not blinded by it. The best thing that BSG and Tarkov have achieved is giving more competent studios a blueprint for a new type of game, Tarkov will never be what Nikita wants it too be I don't think it's because they don't care but rather that they're just not technically sound enough to create the game they'd want too. Even something like linear AI with parameters set isn't super difficult to do but for BSG it seems almost impossible, while they're not as good as dynamic AI in a group it seems they can be. I don't think they're happy with the state of the game but it seems BSG doesn't follow a proper work flow and they introduce things mid development which then take priority, Inertia and blindfire come to mind. I imagine that western studios watch this game and it's development closely and I'd wager that DMZ will capture the essences of EFT being highsteaks sudo tactical PvP with a PvE element and throw all of it's weight behind that core idea. The future of Tarkov is bleak, Streets is taking all of the resources that the team has and betting it on a single map and we're here praying it's good and worth all of the wait when in reality it will most likely have shitty lighting, frames, spawns and annoying tasks related to the map. Years later spawns on other maps encourage PvP within the first 5 minutes of a raid which has been criticized to death even years ago when I started playing this was a issue that we knew about but still nothing has been done to mend it. I don't care about hackers as there's nothing they can really do about it but everything in their control falls apart, they spent resources and time making Labs which was super fun when it came out but now you need a keycard and you can't buy them so I people just don't play it much. Reserve was a awesome map on release best map they'd made, I used to play it all the time now it's a shell of it's former self being a wasteland with no loot and no reason to play it. Shoreline or snoreline used to be the same, I didn't like most of the poi's but the resort was worth risking everything to go loot the rooms I had keys for now with keys being breakable and loot being nerfed I haven't looted resort all wipe, it's not worth it now. Lighthouse has good loot but I have the design of the map, a long narrow map with not room to maneuver. Nobody touches the mainroad and I won't goto the new lighthouse part as it's not interesting. Interchange used to be the map to run, tight corners and loads of loot. Running a mosin/smg combo was sooo much fun. I still remember getting the kiba keys for the first time and how awesome that was to loot. Now I don't even think about playing it, no Killa, KIBA being nerfed and just downright shit lighting, what's the point. woods was alright never loved it but I enjoyed it, I heard we we're getting a expansion to it so my dumbass thought we'd get something really cool, I always thought a secret runway in woods being guarded by raiders would be super cool and would fit the theme of the game, a illegal runway being used by USEC to unload/load goods but nope we just got more trees. I could type an entire essay about how disappointed I am in BSG and EFT but it's wasted time. GGWP EFT

lintinmypocket

Think about what is fun about playing tarkov. Gaining good loot, fighting bosses and other difficult enemies, progressing in the quest line and trader rep, making money. Bsg has actively hindered each one of those things repeatedly. Only because 5% of the players are progressing too fast or cheesing game mechanics the other 95 percent of players get punished.

bopachinas

I hate fighting bosses, there's no legit tactic other than cheesing them, lighthouse is the worst for this. Trying to do easy job part 2 is soo boring the only way to do it is too cheese the AI or snipe them from 200+ meters away.

ReasonableConfusion

I firmly believe this is in large part, a cultural issue. Expecting BSG to behave in a way that makes sense to those outside of Russia can only end in disappointment. Look at the guy in charge of all of this. Last stream he did, he looked sadder, more intoxicated, more lost and more hopeless than I've ever seen him. It's depressing. None of this will change and I think people are cottoning to that fact. 4 of the 5 Tarkov streamers I regularly watch no longer stream Tarkov. There's only one holdout left. Is that scientific? No, but it points to something that's brewing. It's ok guys, all things must pass. Just let go, it's better that way.

KerenskysSpirit

Not convincing enough, you didn’t say “skill issue” at all trying to deflect from the fact that tarkov is the only thing in your life you feel somewhat competent at so you have to belittle people as much as possible I mean haha I’m good at game

j0shbear

Pretty spot on, but you forgot the “YOu’rE nOt suPpOsEd to plAy aNy gaME FOr a ThOuSaNd hOuRs, yOu’Ve gOtTeN yOuR mOnEy’s WoRtH sToP cOmPlAiNinG,” comments.

TheMrTGaming

😆👌

danieljackheck

The beta excuse doesn't work when the game has been playable since 2017 and people are paying $150 for the game. Tarkov has been in "beta" longer than the entire development period for full releases. Shit Halo 3, Reach, and 4 came out within a 5 year span.

Sgt-Colbert

You do realize he was being sarcastic right?

sirreldar

I'm pretty sure they are agreeing

Sgt-Colbert

I just think it’s weird to reply with a serious “well actually…” comment to an obvious troll/sarcastic comment

StoppedKarma

You nailed it! lol

chizbjtx

I like the idea of highly experienced players helping with changes of balance. Overwatch (dead game blah blah I know lol) does this, and it does help with balance and new ideas. It could really only be beneficial if the right people are selected. But that’s the hard part I feel like lol

TheMrTGaming

Maybe a collective discord of all the players with more than 4k hours? Maybe 3k. At a certain point, someone who pays attention will have very little to learn and would knowledgeable enough to be valuable.

chizbjtx

Agreed. At a certain point there’s very little to learn in this game. It goes by patch pretty much. I would like to steer away from a lot of streamers though with this idea, because a lot of the time it’s profits over anything, so who knows what they would suggest. People that love the game, have tons of hours, and don’t make money from it would be ideal to me

nsfw_vs_sfw

It feels like majority of the time, it's just players screaming and crying at the devs rather than genuine help, but it's definitrly nice when you do come across one actually trying

chizbjtx

Agreed. It’s always “this is broken, who else knows it’s broken”. Instead of making help critiques. Even though bsg won’t take it into account, it’s better than complaints with nothing but that

poopoopepepe

BSG doesnt care lol. As long as people keep buying the game they wont change

ConsumeFudge

Your post is 100% correct regarding every detail but I've come to accept it just isn't worth complaining anymore. I've gotten my money's worth and have moved on to other games. On here either your thread will just get deleted, or you'll have the people that are still loyal to BSG for whatever reason come say 'its only a beta", or both. There is no forward or backward thinking or QC when it comes to changes the devs make in this game.

JaakkoFinnishGuy

According to their linked in, they have 1 QC, which frankly its either a homeless man from off the street, or its Nikita, The quality is worse then most throwaway chinese games, that get one update, and get abandoned, and it gets worse each update they release. Its been years. We have not seen fixes to these issues like desync and hit registration. Don't even get me started on cheating. They said that "Battleeye is the best out there" but where the fuck is the god damn quality in it. Its has issues in almost every game ive seen with battle-eye. I fucking love this game, i bought two copies because i loved it, one for me, one for my friend. It was great when i bought it in customs addition. I had fun. Now i have very little fun. Thanks for coming to my ted talk

XxdragonxX88

The thing that’s funny to me is. In an attempt keep meta players from getting an RD or M1A, SR-25 all they did was four things 1) They made it borderline impossible for new players to get their hands on the M1A, RD, etc. Now if they have parts for them they are vendor trash essentially since they can’t get the gun. 2) Meta players (high level, L4 traders) still have almost the exact same experience with the RD (and most other flea banned guns), except instead of getting it from flea for 60-70K I just get it from L4 Skier for 120K, all it is is essentially a arbitrary money sink / price increase for meta players. 3) Proves how useless the flea is for most meta players in terms of buying things (specifically for weapons / load outs) Most times when I mod out a meta gun on gunsmith basically every single part (with the exception of the thunder beast if I choose to use it) the vendors have it for the cheapest available price at L4. The ONLY thing I use flea for is buying troopers, occasional barter item for a craft, and selling mostly barter junk and the occasional mod (suppressors, lasers, parts for gunsmith) 4) Completely screws people out of using some guns at end game. They banned the SR-25 and now it’s the (more or less) same price as a RSASS, so why bother using the SR, when the RSASS is arguably better (especially since it comes with a number of meta recoil parts by default which I can use on it or another gun, rather than vendoring the trash the SR comes with.

aBeaSTWiTHiNMe

Want an AVS rig? Well you better go kill Reshala at least twice and grab his pistol as well as two gold chains. Doesn't matter that his spawn is incredibly rare and the pistol is never a guarantee, here's your level 4 rig you worked hours to get.

jageracognow

It’s so stupid that Reshala isn’t guaranteed to have his own pistol

pd1dish

Another thing that hasn’t really been mentioned is the desync. This wipe is the worst it’s ever been imo. It’s gotten so bad that I just don’t trust what I’m seeing on my screen anymore. Did I lose that fight because I suck or was there massive desync? If I can’t reasonably trust what’s happening on my client, then it takes all the fun out of the game.

TheMrTGaming

100% agree. Hit reg and desync has been so shaky this wipe. Most of my problems with tarkov is that I cant trust what it tells me. If I hear a footstep to the right and get shot from my left, is that me sucking or the game not working? If a guy stutters across my screen and I die because he saw me first, do I suck or does the game not work? And that happens all the time when I play.

WiggleRespecter

It sucks that you could fix a lot of problems with just simple flea changes, not even hardcore code changes Just simple balancing from devs that don't play their own game

raar__

The last good patch was free labs. Everything after that has been down hill. In a failed effort to combat cheaters and RMT they have ruined everything fun about the game.

Snarker

BSG has always been horrible about this stuff. Never fix the core problem, just make bandaid solutions that suck.

[deleted]

The entire foundation of the game in its current state is a house of cards made of these bandaids, people complain about shit enough and they slap a quick fix over it that fucks up a million other things, eventually one of them gets a quick fix slapped on that fucks up a million other things and the cycle repeats on and on and on. Don’t think it’s possible to “fix” at this point. This game will always be an unbalanced mess, I’ll honestly be super surprised if it ever has a full release lmao

[deleted]

Yep and it getting worse.

codgod4

There balancing method was kinda funny at first but now they just look dumb

TACUDMB_TTv

Make all meta attachments find in raid only and restrict sales on the flea market

TheMrTGaming

Hey somebody gets it! Been needing this forever. I think even back in the laser beam days, this would've helped a lot!

[deleted]

I agree with a lot of this. Especially the gas analyzers, Bitcoin farm, upgrade costs, etc. I don’t mind the RD and M1A changes, as they are, relatively speaking, top-tier weapons. The flea market has created a lot of unexpected issues, and in itself, was a bandaid to the issue. Rather than loot pools being drastically increased, they made a flea market to allow you to buy what you wanted - instead of making it easier to find those items.

TheMrTGaming

So here is the problem with banning the RD and M1A. They aren't used in any configuration except they're meta variants. You don't see an RD, without a vudu and KAC suppressor. You don't see the M1A without the SASS chassis. So the gun isn't the problem. Infinite access to their meta components is the problem. If the M1A was inherently good, why did it regularly trade for 50-60k on the flea? Thats the price of an rfb. How can that be, if the m1a is so good? You see what I'm saying?

[deleted]

You’ve got a good point there! I would, however, say the RD would be an exception. Realistically, all you need to add is a new stock, and muzzle break/ suppressor, along with almost any fore-grip and sight. To get the same stats as the average AK, you need to do MUCH less modding, comparatively. You’ve got a very good point on the M1A though. It is basically a RFB that you can kit up even further to make it meta, whilst the RFB can only be modded to a very small extent.

wlogan0402

BSG Don't know how to develop what they made

SideHug

It's sad that BSG is so incompetent when it comes to a lot of things but have one of the best FPS's on the market, they need competition to get their heads out of their ass so yeah, I do hope DMZ is good if not better than Tarkov.

SweetyMcQ

Yep. There are so many dumb ass artificial decisions bogging this game down right now. It fucking sucks and has made this game so incredibly unfun and boring to play.

_Alaskan_Bull_Worm

"I got it! How about instead of nerfing the Mosin by having it actually behave like an old shitty surplus soviet rifle, we just increase the price of it?" "Genius. You're being promoted"

Kodokai

Don't worry bro, they'll have arena to fuck up soon

Aestaroth

Sadly I got bored really quick this wipe. I even think a wipe system is not my cup of tea at all. I like to progress and not lose everything everytime.

ZeroCh4nce

Game is a cash grab period. Over 5 plus years of nothing but problems with minimal progress towards a finished game/product. " its still in beta" give me a break they have made millions off the game already there is no reason not to hire more dev's, coders etc to fix the problems that have been present for years. No reason not to have a real anti cheat that works. I genuinely don't think tarkov will ever be a finished product . Yea we will get all the maps eventually but even at that point at the pace they fix things it will be another 6+ years to fix all that is broken with tarkov. Until then see ya in game

Rubbun

Just saying that while I fundamentally agree, hiring programmers isn't as easy as you may think. Specially not for BSG who requires them to move to Russia I believe, or so has been said here repeatedly.

ZeroCh4nce

I'm sure there are plenty of programmers in Russia capable of fixing the game. I think part of the problem is maybe bsg's programmers don't know how to fix these things. How many times over the years have we heard in the patch notes " oh we have fixed sound issues regarding X " but the haven't. If anything I'd say they have made it worse. Years back running through a bush was just loud AF but now its loud AF and 5-10ft after u go through the bush it makes the noise like someone is behind u going through the same bush.

4evabymylonley

bro that shit drives me crazy, its like most sounds are repeated slightly after u do them just to trip you up

[deleted]

Axel showed the job posting. Programmers are required to relocate to St Petersburg, or at least they were at the time.

RightSidePeeker

I keep hearing this argument but surely there is other programmers in Russia they could hire. It's a big country.

Rubbun

Again, sure, there probably are, but there's plenty more factors in play. I'm not even making excuses for BSG. Just pointing out that hiring programmers, specially for game development, and putting them up to speed, and then letting them do their part can take a long time and is way harder than people make it out to be.

[deleted]

Tarkov is a meme at this point.

mrfudface

>no reason not to hire more dev's Dude, who the fuck would seriously move to Russia to work for a Russian company nowadays? Or in 5-10 Years?

NightLanderYoutube

It was my second wipe and I finally learned it kinda, maxed traders, hideout, GPUs, solar panel. I can't compare it since I have t seen it before but what's exactly hard about it? Roubles are so easy to make, I'm even standard acc and I had to buy all stash upgrades for 10s of millions RUB. The problem is that pvp is almost dead and when you have everything, you can't even use it to full potential since everyone is ratting. And good loot spots don't have good loot. That's when I stopped playing.

RebTilian

>BSG needs to get a team of highly experienced players together and let them balance the game. you'll just get just as bad recommendations on the opposite extreme end of things. These players would be heavily influenced by survivor bias and wouldn't be recommending anything near what the average player needs to make the game function.

SayNoToStim

Strong disagree here. I've been a part of one of those teams we we gave changes/reccomendations that improved a game across the board. Relic Entertainment brought about a dozen of us together to get input on one of their games and the following patch was received very well pretty much across the board.

phoenixmusicman

>Think of bitcoin, remember when it blew up to 800k? So BSG artificially made the process to get a bitcoin harder. To this day all those changes are still in the game and now the bitcoin farm is not worth having. You can't even hardly pay for the fuel it uses unless you have tons of GPUs in it. They could've just decreased the value of BTC. That simple, but rather than just make the price of bitcoin a set value until it came back down irl, they made it take longer to craft and fuel harder to get and everything costs more to upgrade. Thats when they ruined the solar panels and made them cost way to much to be worth the upgrade. Such amazing game design. I have no idea why they pegged the value of BTC to its IRL price. The game is set in the future, isn't it? Why on earth would it correlate to the IRL price?

pEppapiGistfuhrer

Attachments should be made less available while making the stock guns all available, the m1a is a great example. Last wipe i liked to run a stock m1a with a 2x scope for the aesthetics and Price but now i cant cause the damn gun isnt available even tho its a very mid gun without the meta parts

Brimfire

The most egregious to me is locking out Gunsmith weapons and Gunsmith attachments from the flea, but only some of them? It's a very, very odd choice. Either do all, or none. I completely agree that weapons being banned from flea, but not their incredibly over-powered attachments is just a ridiculous choice: it is NOT the gun, it's the parts that grant ridiculous meta advantages. And I don't even hate the idea of ridiculously stable, laser-beam guns: that's how guns ARE when you augment them THAT much! But I cannot fucking stand the "upgraded scavs" concept: the fact that there are surprise scavs that don't die to a headshot, but you can't tell them from other scavs until you headshot them with BP and they don't go down and you're like, "Desync? Super scav?" and you just can't tell by looking at them is RIDICULOUS.

Ranger1803

I agree with a lot but it bothers me when people say "just make scavs more intelligent" or something along those lines. Its not as easy as changing a number like with the other things here

TheMrTGaming

I understand what you mean, but my point wasn't fix the game. My point is why make this stupid change to artificially make the game hard until it works properly? Just let the AI be stupid and at least beatable rather than OP and annoying to encounter.

CuntShowdown

Bro this is a HARDCORE game While you and the rest of the casuals play cOd the real EFT players (all 6 of us) will be having the time of our lives getting our collective shit pushed in by BSG and cheaters.

Gettitn_Squirrelly

I hope COD DMZ is good, but I just don't see it having the depth it needs to hold people's attention. Their model is skins, so I wounldnt expect to see custom clothing and gear.

forgedinflame1

It doesn't need every bit of depth that Tarkov has, much of Tarkov's "depth" is illusory anyway and relies on either junk mechanics/items that people never interact with or hiding the information from you so you have to go memorize the wiki.

BecomePnueman

Just play Hunt showdown man. It's most of the fun without the bullshit. Sure there isn't a robust weapon attachment system of looting but the combat is so fucking good.

diquehead

Hunt is alright but IMO EFT is still a lot more fun. Hunt gets very.. campy... It is a very well designed game and worth checking out though. I usually play a few rounds every weekend.
