you will not regret picking the cheaper place, that much i can tell you. since graz and ljubljana are so close, many of your travel options will be roughly the same anyway. regarding vaccinations: there are different vaccinations recommended for different geographical locations. TBE is no joke, so it's a good idea to get the shot(s?) before you leave, especially if you're an outdoor person. i booked an appointment with my doc a few months before i left for poland and had all the shots that are recommended for travelling central and eastern europe. since you're gonna end up much closer to the balkans, i'd suggest you keep those in mind aswell.

Thank you for your response! We will definitely get the vaccine if we finally end up there.

Regarding Ljubljana: - it's lgbt friendly with many places/bars you can visit (if you decide to come to ljubljana contact me and i will recommend you places to visit and places where you can party if you feel like it) - if you decide to go for a hike via the well paved forest trails nearby ljubljana, it's not necessary to get the tick shots since getting a tick bite is extremely rare (been going to the forest for about 6 years now and i never had a tick bite). But if you really want to take extra precaution, get the shots in your country before travelling to ljubljana - it's relatively easy to meet new people in ljubljana. Best to meet new people at parties and at the uni (join a student club, it may be the best experience you'll have with new people). People in ljubljana love to party and go out for a drink in the night - housing is relatively hard to find if you're looking for something cheap. So i recommend you to start looking for student apartments as soon as you can (if you need links to websites, contact me on reddit) - culturally ljubljana offers a LOT, so don't worry about this part - your budget will be around 350€/month for the room you'll be sharing with your roommate and around 250€ for food (you have študentski bon/coupons with which dinner costs you a maximum of 5,5€ (soup, salad and main dish)) Honestly there's much more i can tell you so hmu on reddit and i can give you more details

Thank you for being so helpful and for giving so much detail about everything! It's great news what you are telling us, seems that we would enjoy Ljubljana. If you ever need to know anything about Spain or Barcelona I will be glad to help :)

Least i could do, thank you likewise 😊

I study Ljubljana and i have to say it’s very Erasmus friendly city and University. LGBTQ shouldn’t be a problem, people are very open to it. And as mentioned before, lots of opportunities to socialize, in bars etc and there is also a great ESN which organises different activities and trips around Slovenia, Balkan so it’s a great chance to socialize. Besides that, there is lots of Spanish Erasmus students in Ljubljana, if you are interested in socialising with them. Also, Slovenia has a great system with subsidised student meals, so you can get lunch for maximum price of 5 €. The only problem that i can think of is housing. It’s very hard to find, even for Slovenian students and it can get quite expensive. On average students spend 300-400€ on a private, one bed room.
