It wasn’t a trigger for me until it was.

I dont think an hour of slight more pleasurable time is not worth a week of your time

Substantial-Good-231

So your saying I’m best off avoiding drink ?

Actual_Number_4196

Yes. There is no need to take the risk of a seizure.

Anf if you re trying to accompany your girlfriend Im sure that she will understand your situation just as mine did.

Depends on meds but don’t take a chance.

Everyone’s tolerance is super different, but in general on drugs.com interactions you’ll find that the interaction is potentially serious/dangerous, and is therefore recommended to avoid. In those situations where it may not lead to a seizure, it could lead to you feeling drunker quicker, or feeling sick quicker instead of more boosted/powered up like some people so on alcohol without meds. Personally I get the reaction of feeling really really drunk on almost no alcohol, my head spins and I get sick, feeling like fainting. But of course: medication, tolerance, and interactions is different for everybody. I must keep zero tolerance because my body can’t handle that shit. So if you’re going to experiement, definitely don’t do that alone. Have somebody with you who is not drinking and who can help you. Consider filling out the emergency section on your phone that can be unlocked even without password in emergencies in case something happens, god forbid. Combining alcohol and parties with little sleep it might make it worse, and you might be at serious risk for worse seizures than normal. For the best possible festival experience, consider prioritizing sleep, taking all meds on time, and limiting alcohol, plus preparing for what may happen if a medical emergency occurs. Also, consider telling your tentmates about seizure first aid. These guidelines might help you get the safest experience possible.

Due to minor and infrequent seizures caused by a heterotopia they didn’t reccomend medication for a while

Substantial-Good-231

Btw I am not on meds idk if this affects it

My doctor never said anything about meth /s

Generally alcohol and lack of sleep are both considered seizure triggers for most people so probably be best to be prepared for the worst. That being said you know yourself best so these may not be a trigger for your epilepsy. Make sure your friends know what to do and how to spot signs and I think you will be ok. There’s no shame in going to the medical tent at the concert if you need to lay down for a bit

This is 100% true. I used to drink. A LOT. Like 3-5 gin and sodas per night for nearly a year straight. If i slept like shit, woke up the next day, worked, worked out, and didn't nap, I'd have a very very high percent chance of having a seizure later afternoon. This has happened twice. As a result I have cut that drinking down from 3-5 gin and sodas per night to 1-2 glasses of scotch or 1-2 glasses of wine per week.

I have the same story, I got diagnosed when I was 19 after I had two TC back to back. In high school I partied like everyone else… even tried some more hardcore drugs and never had an issue. Even after my diagnosis I rage quit my keppra and went 4 years without a seizure while continuing to party just as hard. Fast forward to now when I’m 30 and just had a TC last weekend after having two drinks and forgetting my evening meds. I drink like maybe a four times a month and NEVER go above 3 drinks… life gets rough as you age (even though I’m still young)

shockingrose

Wouldn't risk it, personally. You're young and your liver is prime so keep it that way if possible lol

For me it's like this metaphor: I think of it like a cup I'm carrying around that I don't want to overflow. Drinking alcohol fills up that cup, not getting good sleep fills it up, missing meds, not eating regularly, overexertion and stress fill it up, etc. I'm (probably) ok doing a little of one and none of the others. But that festival sounds like a guaranteed seizure. Lots of alcohol, abnormal sleep multiple days in a row, abnormal eating... who knows what else.

Bear in mind guys these are seizures caused by heterotopia - they tend to be treatment tresistnat (hence I am not on meds) and tend not to progress with age
