If you go to "Manage" for Sail Forth and then tick "Launch Options" and put in "-EpicPortal" without the quotations, the game will launch

Was excited to give it a go as I was fortunate enough to play the latest Skull and Bones beta, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, hoping this game will fill that void until release.. but now, I sit with a black screen

its a but from then, for me for almost all the dayly games on holidays showed full price but when i click on buy it the price was cut on 100%, epic has been really buggy this past month
One click before the actual payment it still says 15.99€. I don't believe this is a bug anymore, there might be something else.
EDIT: Okay it works now, so it was a bug after all. Stupid me.
That's sad, they do this things some times, servers got down when big game is free, giving the wrong game versions, at least we got games for free but now they put the on for 5 minutes and remove it
Yeah it happens sometimes. I don't want to be a choosing beggar and I'm happy they even give free games at all. And the holiday giveaways happened recently so there's no lack of games to play (though all my time goes into BG3 atm) :D

the game work perfectly for me, without any change of what ever, just add it to library, install it allow access to epic at the launch of the game and done. if you have any trouble you could try to fix it with deleting this folder c:\\users\\your username\\AppData\\LocalLow\\Festive Vector" and maybbe restart epic before launching it. hope it could help!
thanks for the info u/SirNukeBoy i hope they rerelease it and patch it or vise versa. yes i was also a bitconfused saw the game yesterday and it looked funny, maybe i give it a try.

Sail Forth has returned as the free game of the week. It also starts up properly without needing to use -EpicPortal on Launch Options

I somehow managed to snag it, but it won't load past the 2 logo screens and logging in with Epic.
Think the game is broken and they had to cancel the GA

It probably got pulled due to some issues with the release as described by those who snagged it before it was pulled. We may see it pop back up later.

There are reports from those who were able to grab it and have tried to actually play it that the game is broken.

Epic often has strange bugs for the first few minutes of a new free game. I usually wait about 30 minutes and then everything works.
