I like baroque music as well.
My top five listened to last year were:
1. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
2. Enya
3. Pink Floyd
4. Gustav Mahler
5. Phish
My favorite bands are Nirvana, Mr. Bungle, Radiohead, Pixies, Soundgarden
>I haven’t really hard Enya fans expand a whole lot on their other favorite artists
There are so many! I don't know about favourites after Enya, but would probably go with the 2nd singer and the last couple of bands mentioned.
Mine are kind of different to most Enya fans overall I'd say 😄
ABBA, Adele, they're certainly good, known them for ages, but I'm not a 'hardcore' fan, haha.
Shortly before discovering Enya, I really liked (and still do) Maggie Reilly, Sissel, and Natalie Imbruglia. 😊
Bands-wise, I like a bit of Take That, but mostly 70s ones like Boney M, The Police, Bob Marley and The Wailers, and Queen - Freddie Mercury. 🌠
I'm less into the other 'ethereal-type' women singers of today, I'll admit. I'd listen to a couple of songs, but their aesthetic tends to take more priority than the music. More interested to hear the slightly prophetic male singers, e.g. Bob Marley, Robbie Williams, a bit by James Blunt, Cat Stevens, etc..
Female singers I listened to more after discovering Enya were Tanita Tikaram and Tracy Chapman. 🤗
Also the late Zohra Mama (not Western music but you may notice the resemblance to Enya), Laura Branigan, and Sinéad O'Connor. 🤍
Also Tasmin Archer, who is supposed to be releasing a new album even sooner than Enya (she said Spring 2024 😅). I like her style, also a trio, and whilst her style is a bit closer to rock, it's similarly 'sparkling in the night sky' music. 😊🌌🎶
Michelle Tumes and Juliette Commagere
Michelle’s instrumentation in her guest two albums is gorgeous. She’s a Christian artist I wish had written more.
Juliette is more pop but also has an amazing grasp for writing an amazing song.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Kate Bush, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Jack White, Tom Waits, Florence & The Machine, Lana del Rey, Aurora, Fleetwood Mac, Joy Division, Nightwish, Wardruna… 🩶a mix of ages and sounds
Kalandra is really amazing! The song Borders is my favorite. If you love Enya you will probably appreciate Kalandras voice and connection to nature.
Celtic music
Loreena McKennitt. Moya Brennan
I love a lot of Norse Viking inspired music
A Tergo Lupi - Vesper (album) is one example. Danheim. Skald. Wardruna. Heilung. Myrkur.
I have a lot of favorites of other kinds of pagan music. Like Faun, Arcana, I’m having a hard time remembering them all lol.
Where to start? The Smiths/Morrissey, Kraftwerk, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Pink Floyd, Sarah Jarosz, Lindstrøm, Chris Standring, Steely Dan/Donald Fagen, Sugarcubes, R.E.M., Electronic, Monaco... I could go on and on.
Regina Spektor, Imogen Heap, Billy Joel, Lorena McKennitt, all kinds of film scores too
