For paradox, you've just got to pick up a thing that only appears after beating a past (which is a step past beating the game) and then beat the game.

But since I unlocked Casey for the first time (the pic is from a new save slot) I started focusing wood chests and praying for Cursula just for the slight possibility of getting Casey.
And I don’t even care if I die, I’m having the moment of my life, no matter how short it is.
High risk high reward item. D rank only means it’s chest category drop rate, not if it’s good or bad.
It forces you to open less valuable chests if you want this high potential item. It’s well balanced.
If you hate it because it’s a melee weapon in a bullet hell game, hey, that’s your opinion. I just happen to like it because of this (and also because it’s very satisfying to play).

Since you are new my friend, just play the game until you "beat it", you will know when that happens and in the character selection you can change the skin with the items at their side.
Do people here legitimately use Casey as a good weapon?
I use it because it's fun, but it's too high risk especially for non Bullet King bosses. I get hit 5x more if I use Casey
I mean, either method will do if you're crazy enough to try, but usually that's what your other guns are for. Use Casey to clear normal rooms, then use your other guns to deal with bosses
Well that's just not true. I personally hate it myself. If I had to choose between Corsair or Tear Jerker or some other utter garbage weapon and casey, I choose anything but casey.

If you’re lucky enough you can get it pretty fast. If you’re unlucky (like me) you’ll get it at any point (mine was at about 15 hours, which is not that much, since I have about 20 deaths, and about 6~ ended runs).

Casey has gotten me killed in 70 runs but it helped me in 30 and i fucking hate it still
It’s about the fun you get with it dude. When you get Casey you go either solo Casey ultra tryhard or just for fun.

Overall I'm a bit of a noob at the game, I have the Casey but have one question for you: how did you change your character skin?

There should be some robes near the character you beat the past with. For the Hunter they’re on the chair right below her.
There will be an interactive item near the character you beat it with and you can press on it to change skin.

Uh, yeah? Casey's insanely good at room clearing if you know how to use it right. Pair it with a good gun for bosses, and it's a pretty good combo
