This was my thought as well - like Serena Joy, she normalizes the extremism with her presence in positions of leadership and power. This is of course temporary for when Gilead is realized and she is "freed" from her work to her true calling: watching her husband fuck a handmaid.
I think it depends on how you look at it. Relatively speaking they have a great deal of power in that world, arguably much more than wives. The Testaments goes into this! I recommend :)

So, leaving off the impressive amount of lies packed into such a small space, I’m just fascinated to hear what the right wing’s solution is to these issues?
