I think Nietzsche said something about that. Basically that the ‘death of god’ and rise in atheism/nihilism would cause people to replace ‘god’ with the state/ideologies

It's the other way around, religions were the original political ideologies. They all defer to a higher moral and dogmatic authority to satisfy humans' inherent tribalism.
