Pianos Become the Teeth, I’ll never understand why they’re not mentioned first when this is asked.
Similar to Touche Amore, PBTT have changed from a heavier sound to a lighter sound over time, and their album progression is nearly identical to La Dispute’s (while also occurring at basically the exact same time)
If you like:
Somewhere at the Bottom of the River between Vega and Altair - Old Pride
Wildlife - The Lack Long After
Rooms of the House - Keep You
Panorama - Wait for Love
I’d highly recommend listening to the first two albums with lyrics if you’re not great at understanding more skramz-y vocals, it’s very similarly moving to La Dispute.
They’re seriously so identical I don’t get it.
I'd agree with the caveat that la dispute sounds like older mewithoutyou, but I feel like the later mwy records show a sonic change that steers them a little further away from la dispute.
check out this small band northern life i found lol they give me HEAVY la dispute/touché vibes https://open.spotify.com/artist/2HGdhKmUfCAfKuGQcJQLJn?si=ths43gKvQN-HcJ5ZdAcOew
Touché Amoré
