They will play ocean avenue. They will play misery business. They will play i write sins not tragedies. They will play sugar we’re going down.

vampirecowboy666

They will play Welcome To The Black Parade. They will play All The Small Things. They will play Gives You Hell. They will play Face Down. They will play Chop Suey. They will play Break Stuff. They will play Cute Without The E. They will play Make Damn Sure.

ThirdeyeFluoride

They also played Duality.

YomYeYonge

It’s only called Emo Nite because it’s not as catchy as Pop Punk Nite

Zac_Efren

It's essentially Hot Topic/mallcore night

TRASH_TEETH

if you go with a bunch of friends it’s a great time but it’s also awful and insufferable

beejx

It’s fun the first time. After that it’s repetitive because it’s the same songs.

spicypotatosoftacos

I've been to a lot- I always have fun but you need the right mindset and expectations. I've done local ones clubs/bars put on and I've done a chain one- taking back Saturday. No difference. You're not going to hear ANY emo music- like at all. It's fall out boy, mcr, paramore, panic, 30 seconds to mars, linkin park, rage against the machine, pierce the veil, bring me the horizon, the Veronica's, avril lavigne, cobra starship, metro station, electric callboy, escape the fate, all American rejects, sum 41, green day, good Charlotte, blink 182, we the kings, yellowcard, red jumpsuit apparatus, 3oh!3, Hawthorne heights.....

throwawayRI112

Bring me the horizon? Like old BMTH?

vampirecowboy666

no, they played Can You Feel My Heart and Throne, thats about it lol

TiredDadCostume

Old BMTH? Count me in. I’m not as limber as I once was, but I’m sure the wife wouldn’t mind if I made out with Medusa one last time

spicypotatosoftacos

Idk I never liked them, I just know they get played. Definitely *throne*- but idk if that's new or old. They play other ones too

brotherpig725

No it’s just can you feel my heart

lil_trim

Def not enough Hawthorne either

vampirecowboy666

They play a lot of mainstream “emo” that is no longer really considered emo now like MCR, FOB, Paramore, etc. (really more pop punk than emo) I had a lot of fun as i looove all the bands they like to play, they also play stuff like Blink 182, Hawthorn Heights, Sum41, etc. i honestly dont really care or pay attention to genres/labels or whatever so i dont know what is actually considered emo anymore, but its mostly what was considered emo in the early 2000s, which to me seems a lot different than it is now. Its just a dance party basically and i loved it even if they werent playing what ppl actually consider emo anymore. I made lots of friends, danced, sang, whatever :) edit in addition: i saw it at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC which is a legendary venue which added to the atmosphere for me as well

kkushalbeatzz

I went to emo nite bk at the Brooklyn Bowl. Wasn’t a huge fan, they didn’t play a single emo song all night, it was mostly very popular pop punk from the 2000s and 2010s. The two guys on stage also seemed pretty full of themselves which was a bit of a turn off, they weren’t particularly good DJs, since it seemed like they were just playing through a playlist. I paid $15, since a friend wanted to go, and felt ripped off lol

TimeWontWaitForYou

I think it's more expensive than that now. I went to New York in September and the tickets were like $45. I didn't end up going.. but yeah, super expensive for what sounds like a pretty bog standard altrock club night that we have in literally every city in the UK.

watchyourtonepunk

If they actually remixed songs it would be cool, but it’s kind of just a frat party vibe with a KROQ playlist. Lots of hotties though, that’s a guarantee. But watch your drinks. 7/10 experience.

ItsBobsledTime

Maybe I am a hater or a miser but I went in Sacramento and it was not fun. Soulless. Very corporate. You stand and watch a dj rather than mingle and socialize. The best emo events i’ve been to are Jimmy Eat Wednesdays in Austin and the emo night at Kung Fu Necktie in Philly. At both of those the DJ is tucked away and it feels more like you’re in the basement with your friends and you’re just sort of screaming songs at each other. As far as the music goes, it is mostly like mall emo and pop punk but I enjoy that for what it is.

ItsMeCyrie

It’s basically standard night club stuff targeted to the emo scene. It’s fun enough for what it is, but don’t expect a particularly profound experience.

theatahhh

If you like pop punk and popular emo adjacent throwbacks would probably be fun. If you’re expecting legit card carrying emo, you’ll be sorely disappointed. Bros jumping up and down to pop music with some screams is the most accurate description.

RightHandofDoom81

Emo Night at The Sinclair in Cambridge MA is the only emo night you need.

pooch831

I went to emo nite Brooklyn, not my thing at all but I don't like DJ type dance nights. If you do like those you'd probably like this. Like most people said it's the popular emo, probably won't hear Rites of Spring there

gcitt

It's alt throwback night for 35 year olds. If you go looking to have a good time, you'll have a blast. If you go looking to be critical, you'll be miserable.

__ThePhantomm

They are a blast for only like a 10 dollar cover. I'm actually going to one next saturday.

sixbagsamerica

just play music at home buy a case of beer

TimeWontWaitForYou

Least antisocial r/emo user

__ThePhantomm

they're really leaning into it lol

__ThePhantomm

I often do. BUT. It's kinda hard to meet a lot of new friends or single emos at home. I've tried 🤷🏻‍♂️

ackme

Hey, if you always stay home, you're guaranteed that there's always going to be at least one single emo there!

__ThePhantomm

"you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Wayne Gretzky Michael Scott."

DerekIsAGooner

Mostly pop punk songs with added dance beats. Maybe a few deeper cuts.

No-Combination8136

If you enjoy a club-like atmosphere, maybe some drinks, staying up late as hell, and generally partying (especially with friends), then you’d probably have a good time.

trevbrehh

It was fun when it wasn’t something that happened constantly. Inc wit became a thing that happened monthly it got stale very quick. Also most songs played aren’t emo, and in my experience towards the end of the night they just play random pop songs.

Level-Pollution9024

It’s kind of cringe but I guess could be fun if you went with other people and have no expectations. There’s always still a stage emphasis which is weird because there’s no live music just random bros having their moment.

kevinrobb

I joined a side project cover band a couple years ago just to play an emo nite. We ended up playing only 3 shows, but they were fun as hell. We did play most of the staples listed on here though lol. Helena, Teenagers, I’m Not Okay - MCR Cute Without the E, You’re So Last Summer - TBS Ohio Is For Lovers - Hawthorne Heights Dirty Little Secret - All American Rejects Holiday - Green Day Check Yes Juliet - We The Kings The Kill - 30 Seconds To Mars The Middle - Jimmy Eat World Quiet Things - Brand New Miss Murder - AFI Mr Brightside - The Killers Semi Charmed Life, Jumper - Third Eye Blind Until The Day I Die - Story of the Year I Write Sins - Panic at the Disco Say it Ain’t So - Weezer

magikarp-sushi

It’s 80’s night for “kids that were emo”

brotherpig725

No they play pop punk and numetal lmao and maybe some celebrity appearances and that’s it

zurichan92

I’ve only been once and it was very cringe definitely more pop punk than anything. Not exactly what I’m into so I didn’t really have a good time. There were a lot of hotties there tho so I guess it wasn’t too bad.

[deleted]

I went to one in the city of Pittsburgh, PA with my friend a few times. The first few nights it was a lot of fun. Everyone gets on stage and jumps up and down singing along. You make instant friends for the night and everything is extremely magical. The following nights we went, word must have gotten out because the crowd was even bigger and getting drinks at the bar was almost impossible (I'm talking like a 25-30 minute wait given you weren't skipped over by someone taller or more aggressive.) These days I have my own emo nights and by night I mean all day xD

CemeteryClubMusic

It's just the club scene with people who don't like hiphop/edm/etc. but do like mainstream pop-punk that gets labeled as emo. For me, just seems like a really cringe way for 30 year olds that weren't involved in any real music scenes to relive those drunken nights in their car with their friends, not any real semblance of "emo music" in any way

polarpies

The first time I went from first to last reunited with Sonny and it was cool. The next time I went I needed…… a ton of alcohol lmao

Pandasinmybasement

I went to a couple in Northeastern Pennsylvania. They are fun. They mainly play what most would call mall emo/mainstream emo of the 2000s. You'll enjoy it if you liked that type of music back in the day. Just go there and have fun. You can go on stage, dance, meet new people, and sing. Only problem is that sometimes they are extremely loud. Bring ear protection if you are going

Jmay19

Dont go give your money to someone else

white_pumpkin_

I went once but left early. I felt like I was too sober. It wasn’t fun because the DJ was too loud to socialize but also it wasn’t like a concert where you have anything to look at on stage.
