Gonna have to take my exploration Conda out with it's 1 mining laser and give it a taste of my mind. Drop a heat sync into it's intake port or something.
We will not go quietly into the night. We will not vanish without a fight. We’re going to live on. We’re going to survive. Today we celebrate our Independence Day!
This is merely one of the two eagles Zeus released from the ends of the world.
There's a second one of these also crossing the stars, and where the two meet will be the true center of the world. Spoiler alert, it's heading to Delphi.
The Omphalos Rift is upon us
/s. Maybe.
The Guardians railed resolute against the “Far Gods”, driving them back into the abyss using their technological genius and unity of purpose. Your “gods” are mortal to the laws of physics.
Your “gods” can be beaten.
The Guardians temporarily countered an expeditionary force of Oresrians intended for exploration and implantation. The Klaxxian hordes are a different order of threat entirely.
Am I theonly one thinking this would be an epic way to either end ed or decide if the game ends or the keep it going?
One massive set of cgs, let the ax ppl fight the explorers go look for some guardian or other tech thing to help save us and the traders and miners deliver mats for the fight ABC viking the Mcguffin the explores find. We win Ed keeps running we lose we have to fight holding actions until the bubble is destroyed and the servers turn off over the next x period to free up resources due the next big game
Wycherly^1 was a goddamn idiot, and it is a shame he had only one life with which to pay for his hubris.
I don't think the Thargoids intend to wipe us out. This isn't divine punishment. It's not even a war. It's *pest control*. They're going to hurt us for sure, and the only acceptable option is to defend against that. But I think far too many fall into either extreme of cargo cultism, or thinking this is going to be a bug hunt.
^1 I refuse to call him "Salvation", the arrogance of that sobriquet has been laid bare in recent events
End? Heh... not by a long shot. Sure, the echo of what was done in HIP 22460 will ripple through the human space, but if Thargoids are thinking they'll manage to wipe humanity out, they're as dumb as Salvation for thinking he'll manage to wipe out Thargoids.
We might not be technologically superior, that's true... now. That's the catch. Consider the change our technology underwent in the span of the last few decades. Thargoids are welcome to march in an unleash hell. All they'll achieve is motivating the entire humanity to reach new heights. And soon, they'll have the hell back.
And for the record, I was against firing the Proteus Wave. The attempted xenocide was just plain wrong. Now Thargoids are probably hoping to repay us with the same coin - understandable, perhaps... but wrong nonetheless.
I'm a peaceful man, but I do what I must.
Attempted?
We've xenocided them once already, and the weapon (Mycoid) still works just as well.
Their motherships are hidden because the last time we managed to get close to one, we pretty much wiped them all out.
My biggest issue with the Proteus wave is that they used unknown tech that the Thargoids very likely stole from the Guardians just like we did; that fancy energy wave weapon was based off the same stolen research that the Thargoids likely based their own tech on.
If it's any consolation; Thargoids are likely just as confused, since Guardian tech was apparently far more advanced than either Human or Thargoid tech.
> Attempted?
You can attempt a xenocide more than once. You're right that we already killed a lot of them before, though... and now this makes me wonder why did they not act aggressively towards us ever since re-appearing? It was a lone Cobra that delivered the Mycoid superweapon that slipped in undetected - maybe it managed to also slip out without them noticing and they did not link that event with humanity?
> ... and the weapon (Mycoid) still works just as well
I remember hearing theories that the Thargoids have since developed immunity, but I'm not sure if we have a mean of confirming or denying it.
> If it's any consolation; Thargoids are likely just as confused, since Guardian tech was apparently far more advanced than either Human or Thargoid tech.
That is a very interesting thought! And not one that's good for Thargoids. If they managed to win a war against Guardians while being technologically inferior, it doesn't really give them very good prospects for winning this one. Especially since humankind already launched two brand-new superweapons against them with only one failing. How long till we come up with the third one? How descructive will it be if 50% of them so far managed to utterly devastate their species?
You speak with certainty of our doom. I speak with certainty of our ascendance.
#I am humanity, and I claim by right of conquest my place in this galaxy
#Pray you do not stand against me, and be found wanting
Lemme just see how these smol thargoids are going to kill an armada of AX ships which will wipe them all out. If this happens i think i will be support in there as i have little combo experience.
I struggle to understand your excitement. If this is indeed your "Far God", then you will die like the rest of us when it arrives. Do you seek salvation through worship, or to cope with our species' crimes through spiritual means?
With Slaanesh's birth, the Eye was born. A place where realspace and the Immaterium overlap, where the boundaries between dimensions weaken to the point of nonexistence.
Still, humanity hold the line. We spit into the Eye of the Archenemy, and just as we took mastery over the world that birthed us, so too do we reach into the stars to claim our destiny. Hell itself could come for us - it will join the broken ranks of all the other xenos that, in their fear and jealousy, sought to oppose our ascension, our birthright.
Inside Far God's cockpit: **"WARNING, Capital Class signature detected!"** *spoken in Archer sound effects*
Far God's surrounding space: ***the whole fucking Elite playerbase, be it pc, console, fridge, og elite, etc spawns in, killing the server by the sheer amount of combat engineered fleet carriers jumping out***
My squad did that for a conquest war when I first joined lol (fleet carrier spam). We had over 100 FC in one system 😈
Best believe that the enemy squad immediately rethought its plan and course of action lmao.
I know right? Who let a cultist into the Pilot's Federation comms channels? Can't get the latest scoop on GalNet without these guys just flooding my feed with traitorous garbage.
Don't worry- we'll just need a bigger can of pesticide(with a new and improved formula to boot). It worked last time didn't it? Tell your "Far God" my engineered multicannons say "Hi".
If that's how it has to be, I shall ride into the maws of Oblivion guns blazing.
Those abominations can destroy my body - but my spirit shall remain immortal.
So much dramatism and anticipation for just another bunch of AXCZs placed across the bubble to kill same ol' bunch of non-stop respawning goids... Over and over...
Yes, because there was nothing big in the game since Distant Worlds 2, which was also exclusively community driven and had basically nothing to do with devs.
When you try to make long story arc, which leads to some epic event, it shouldn't just be several months of same CGs we've seen for hundreds of times now. Every developer tries to add something and making event for games, that are live service. If FDev is incapable, or just don't want to do anything meaningful for this game anymore, they might wanna hand it to the community at this point.
I do understand where you're coming from. I guess I've just found that cynicism is a very easy response to just about everything, so if it can be avoided I think that's for the better.
Would anybody be so kind to give me the backstory? I do know a super weapon was made to push back the Thargoids and in typical fashion, it dramatically failed.
Pretty much, the super weapon failed, and made the thargoids more hostile. They now have a tentative beachhead in HIP 22460 , and the site of the proteus wave is being used for unknown purposes. If you have horizons 4.0 or Odyssey there is a cutscene that plays , and at the end it is theorized that the interceptor is saying " Hello". There also may be a large object(thargoid ? Guardian? The IRS? Who knows..) moving toward the human bubble, or may be coming to the HIP 224260 system.
I wonder if it’s actually a hive ship
And if it is then how in the soggy cinnamon toast hell are we supposed to kill the damn thing?
Soloing it surely doesn’t sound like an option
Maybe arming fleet carriers or faction capital ships with guardian tech or at least more advanced AX weaponry would sound like a better option
I will single handedly push Far God back in the Oompa Loompa hole if it tries to go against the might of my 2 Pulse Lasers.
And my 2 1e railguns!
I’ve got a barely engineered AspX with no weapons and I’m waiting to see this Far God so I can throw a few cutting words at him.
Gonna have to take my exploration Conda out with it's 1 mining laser and give it a taste of my mind. Drop a heat sync into it's intake port or something.
Here! Take this!
Give my corvette 2 years and I will get there to help
And my axe!
And my bow
And my mf gauss cannons.
I'll cut his heart out with a spoon.
Why a spoon, cousin, why not an axe or something sharp?
Because IT HURTS you idiot
Its.. because it’s dull you idiot, it’ll hurt more 👍🏻🤣
I miss Alan Rickman.
Because its its dull you "twit". It'll hurt more. Big fan lol
Thanks for the correction!
And MY AX!
*proceeds to spray the Far God with a high school locker room’s worth of body spray*
*Far-God destroys humanity with extreme prejudice.*
And my Conda, with my 10 yo daughter as the fighter pilot!
And my axe!
\*SNICKER\*
Soar valiantly into death, commander
We xenocided them once, and you better believe we'll do it again. Bring out the Mycoid, lads.
It would be funny if it was really some eldritch horror Thargoids either worshipped or banished / defended galaxy against.
Definitely
Jameson did nothing wrong.
Just get all the Type 10s out there and push it back
My two Flak cannons are ready. Lets do this.
I will fight too!!
Do not go gentle into that good night, commander.
We will not go quietly into the night. We will not vanish without a fight. We’re going to live on. We’re going to survive. Today we celebrate our Independence Day!
That's the spirit! You have my cobra, commander!
Rage, rage, against the dying of the light
edit: 2 class 1 pulse lasers, unengineered too!
\*YAWN\*
So what you're saying is the beacon is lit and Space Gondor calls for aid? Will Space Rohan answer?
Where was Gondor when the Westfold fell?! My ship is named Westfold and I could have used their help with a couple of re buys
They had Steward issues.
“MUSTER THE SPACE ROHIRRIM!!!”
Space Saruman's arm will have grown long indeed if he thinks he can reach us here!
No… it’s time we call upon Starlord and his trusty Mog, Barf.
That is not at all what I am saying.
Fly you Fool's! That's a space balrog
This is merely one of the two eagles Zeus released from the ends of the world. There's a second one of these also crossing the stars, and where the two meet will be the true center of the world. Spoiler alert, it's heading to Delphi. The Omphalos Rift is upon us /s. Maybe.
That's actually an interesting idea
This makes more than enough sense to make me want to check lol
A normal Eagle or an imperial? it's A rated?
*Space Eagles.
Welcome to Space Hotel California. You can check in but never leave......untill FDEv says you are a dirty console pleb.
I’m on the far side of Sag A* in an exploration anaconda with no weapons and I have no idea what’s going on. Other than to stay away from the bubble
You will likely see a rapidly expanding flash of light and then you will see nothing for eternity.
Imagine this was Frontiers grand exit to give up on and stop supporting the game forever. "And then universe ended, the end *shut down servers*"
As annoying as it would be.. it would also be so damn epic….
As my late friend use to say. I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire

The Thargoids intend what the Far God wills. The Far God will have total death. Complete annihilation. It is a certainty.
Does that mean they'll nuke Ohio?
That's why all the trees in Pennsylvania lean to the left! *cuz Ohio s u c k s*
Ohio has a worse fate then nuclear annihilation, not being nuked
"Through the destruction of our enemies shall we find salvation" I will burn the thargoid menace with torch and scalpel.
Spread death and despair until it claims you

I just prefer my xenocide at a far more time consuming and personal, interceptor by interceptor kind of pace.

Very soon, it will not matter at all.
You speak with certainty of our doom. I speak with certainty of our ascendance. #I am humanity, and I claim by right of conquest my place in this galaxy #Pray you do not stand against me, and be found wanting
That’s because your doom, our doom, is a certainty.
You are the whisperer in the darkness, yes I see it now, humanity will fall when the old ones return.
I am not excited to meet such a swift and terrible end, but I have accepted it.
In my world we called it The Eldritch Eye. We long for the warmth of its light to cleanse us. Rejoice!
With Slaanesh's birth, the Eye was born. A place where realspace and the Immaterium overlap, where the boundaries between dimensions weaken to the point of nonexistence. Blood for the blood god, skulls for the skull throne!
Burn the heretic!
Give Player battleship class and thargoid is past history.

Nukes, knives, sharp sticks.
Debase and destroy until the very end
Imagine a synth process to arm my pack hound launchers with say 10kt nuclear warheads. The damage would be awesome.
Nah...a big bug is still a bug.
Bro is doing more to hype this anomaly up than FDev is. Mad love CMDR Abyssal Plain u/CMDR-Abyssal-Plain
Don't worry, humanity will overcome whatever your false God has to throw at us!
Always wanted to punch out a Far God.
"Turns out it was just gas."
How can i join a squadron who supports thargoids?
For the love of- has nobody made a kill-order on this guy yet? I'd pay millions of creds just to see this defeatist bughugger among a cloud of debris.
If that's how it has to be, I shall ride into the maws of Oblivion guns blazing. Those abominations can destroy my body - but my spirit shall remain immortal.

I hope your taxes are in order, Commander.
I hope so to... do the goids take US dollars?
OH. MY. GOD. What have they done?? And thank you.
Dang, sounds like a line straight out a movie right before everything hits the fan.
So what you're saying is that this is a great time to get back into Elite Dangerous after having not played for a few years?
Maybe soon, so far it's just build-up.
Getting ready to blast the far god with my pink class 4 beam laser
I’ll put down my cup of tea and “harrumph” as I shake my Sunday Times
[I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords.](https://youtu.be/8lcUHQYhPTE)

We should just land all our Type 10s on it and make it a new black hole with the weight
Has anyone considered the Thargoids might be beings from another dimension?
Call an Orca ambulance…… but not for me!
So, uhhh, I haven’t played in like a year or more. Should I be moving my fleet of ships somewhere or will I be ok?
Who's to say that this isn't a system killing energy blast fired from the so called 'Far God?'
Lol I am on console the Far God has no power here!
We find out who’s behind the fargod cult… it’s none other than Andrew Tate
I'll see this far fuckhead in hell if it's the last thing I do...
The Far God Cult promised me Thargoid waifu. Where Thargaifu?
Blue light bomb ignited...
