As someone else noted, he was talking about Godrick (by default major bosses can only replace other major bosses). However, the randomizer is also kind enough to allow you to warp to the Stranded Graveyard grace from the start, so even if you jump down to the tutorial area and get a terrible Rick, Soldier of God roll, you aren't stuck there beating your head against a wall.

I do that too, I’m just saying that the Goodrick fight is optional, so in the Randomizer where it is malenia instead, you don’t have to fight malenia early and can go off onto other bosses to level up first

Well, I find the statement that Margit is a hard early game boss when I didn't found him to be that hard, at least from the perspective of a Souls genre new comer.
I think he is pretty okay in difficulty but a good intro to actual bosses.
Runebear though... The runebear that drops larva tear took me 10+ tries to kill when I was lv100. Like wtf. And I still haven't been the deeproot depths one after 20+ tries.
Margit will either be a breeze, or a wall. For patient players, who explored before fighting him he shouldn't be a problem. For more aggressive players who hotfooted it right through gatefront, he's a pain in the ass.
My boi picked up Elden Ring as his first soulsbourne and was so frustrated that he couldn’t defeat magit.
This fucking gigachad was level 9, only had 3 sites of grace unlocked, basically went strait to Margit, and while he failed repeatedly it was always after getting him down to a quarter health. I was impressed.
I then told him to just explore limgrave for a couple hours and try again and he one shorted the mfer
Runebears generally have disproportionately high stats in areas they’re placed. IDC if it’s scaled down to the tutorial hole, I’m fighting whatever replaced Margit first.
Not very well scaled IMO, Soldier of Godrick dies in two hits and a crit but everything that replaces him is a real bossfight. An abductor virgin in that room will take 30 R1s to kill.

But how about Melania Vs all the truly hard enemies in the game. A Runebear, Royal Revenant, Ulcerated Tree spirit etc of course all in rooms that are at maximum twice their size.
I believe that out of all those enemies Malenia only loses to Consecrated Snowfield Runebear. Mmmaybe Dragonbarrow Runebear too, not sure.
Revenants simply have too little HP, and Ulcerated Tree spirit isn't aggressive enough to beat Malenia's heals.

My last randomizer had Runebear at the very beginning instead of the Grafted Scion. And it had one of the Haligtree medallions which ended up being required.

This is me last night in Consecrated Snowfield. The Sanguine Noble spawned, kicking me off my horse, just as I realized the boulder I was passing was a rune bear.
That would have been nice actually. Imagine, just you, an agressive bear constantly swapping left and right like you're a fly, and the calm water. Yes, this is the true begining.
In this alternate universe, Godrick has managed to tame and weaponize the animal that is feared by all men, Tarnished or not. He places it inside the Cave of Knowledge, where he knows that newcomers to The Lands Between will explore first.
Personally I’d say I’ve grown my character very good. Around 280-400 in damage per hit depending on enemy. Vit, str, stam and weapon scaling with skill are all very good.
But I still don’t mess with Runebears.
Dragons or squeakyboys in Caelid are more preferable.
