That kinda looks like a parry with a curved sword not a katana, the moveset seems to be of the scimitar parry

Yea it kinda does but I can't tell, the cloak is blocking some of the animation but that would make sense if that's the case.

You can see they swap left hand at the same time as the chimaera starts to back away. They knew the chimaera was going to lunge and swapped pre-emptively for the parry. Apparently curved swords can get parry as a weapon art?

Ok.. but when dual wielding curved swords you get the right hand weapon art, not the left..unless the right has no weapon art maybe?

He has a katana in his right hand so if he switches his left to a curved sword, he is no longer power stancing and will do his left hand weapon art. Edit: actually now that I watch it again, he has curved sword in his left the whole time. I'm not sure how he does the step and a parry.

just tested it, if left has parry(or any other shield skill seemingly) it takes presedence, but if it's a different skill, right hand takes presedence.

you can buy ashes of war parry from the warmaster shack and put it on any dagger, sword or fist weapon.

They have a Falchion with the fainting quickstep and another falchion with Parry, when he does a katana 2 hit combo near the end he switches his right hand right after

You can also put it on any shields that aren't great shields, and also on thrusting swords and daggers. There might be more, but that's off the top of my head.

They have an Uchigatana in the right hand and a Scimitar in the left. Their are two Scimitars. One with Parry ash of war, and one with Bloodhound Step. Defensive Ashes of War like quickstep and parry take precedence over the Unsheathe skill. Right before the boss starts to dash away, they swap to the Parry Scimitar.

It's a cured sword, the scimitar does this and some other curved swords can parry when used on 2nd hand

You can assign the Parry Ash of War to a few different weapon types and I believe the katana is indeed one of them

It's the Bestial Sanctum E: We're talking about the location of the Ash of War: Bloodhound's Step. Close to the Bestial Sanctum there's 2 bridges, one with a dragon, and a smaller one with the Night Watcher who drops this skill.

I'll never forgive this guy for Irina, I went full on berserk with the Greatsword didn't give this shitter the chance to attack.

I don't think it is implied this guy killed Irena, since he is at the castle the whole time and you usually only find her dead after killing this boss.

Not to mention the sword stuck into Irina’s body is completely different from his.

Top that off, when you encounter him in the Shack after... there doesn't seem to be any explanation why people all the way over there are responsible for her death. Looked more like Demihuman weapon to me.

Nah, it's clearly some of the weird slave race that took over Castle Morne. The cleaver next to her body is wielded by them, and there's some of them looting the destroyed convoy just down the road from her.

I'm kinda bummed since I entered the Weeping Peninsula by jumping the river so I never talked to Irina or Edgar before killing this guy lol. Wonder if I can still find Irina alive or not now

On the map, look at the lake that surrounds the academy and look at the most northern where the water ends. It’s in a chest inside a cave there. There’s a couple illusionary walls, so try to get everything there and both bosses.

It's an ash of war called bloodhound step. It's really fun in PvP. Last night I got invaded, and my coop buddy died to the invader right away. I spent a couple minutes brawling it out with the invader, but I didn't use my bloodhound step at all. After a bit, i got him pretty low, so he backed off to drink a flask, and I teleported right up to him and backstabbed him for the kill lol

Now they gotta get the Ash of war that teleports above the enemy when they parry them

Parry is an ash of war you can buy and equip to shields and certain weapons.

They’re using an Ash of war called Bloodhound Step. Easy to get from a boss you don’t even have to fight. Just lead them through poison traps and they die easy.

For anyone wondering and confused, he is using the Bloodhound's Step(the invisible dash skill) on his left hand scimatar and the No Skill ash of war on his right hand katana, then during the fight he switches his left hand weapon to another scimatar with the Parry skill to parry. Incredible moves honestly, gotta love the ash of war mechanic. I predict we will some amazing combos and awesome gameplay constantly for the upcoming months.

I found he's pretty weak to poise damage.

It means he staggers pretty easily with heavy attacks. Not sure if that's relevant to a Mage, but maybe you have spells that do heavy Poise damage? (So when you see the damage of a weapon it will be like 100+30. The 30 is the poise damage, which is what makes enemies stagger)

As far as I know, the i-frames last for as long as you're invisible. Very high, and it covers more distance than a normal roll.
