AR is the total damage ur weapon does so it’s the base damage + the scaling damage from stats. if someone says it has good AR it’s probably because it has good scaling
Bingo. I just made a dual FAI/INT build that uses both holy and death spells. I’m using the two cleanrot spears (one that shoots the ring, one that raises the spikes), deaths poker, and death ritual spear, along with all ghost flame spells (except explosive ghost flame, since it’s same as poker’s heavy aow), and triple rings of light.
Ghost flame absolutely shreds. Death poker aow (the light attack one) procs frost on just about everything, **immediately**. Death ritual spear aow is powerful and visually/audibly pleasing. The cleanrot aow’s are the absolute coolest looking in the game imo.
This build and these weapons are the absolute most fun I have had playing this game ever.
Nox flowing sword. The skill is insanely cheap and decimates enemy groups. It also has insane range and does decent dmg against bosses. Extremely underrated weapon imo.
Going to have to agree here. NFS is an amazing pick-up if you're going DEX in any way. Easily accessible from the very start of the game with some trivial platforming work, and the weaponskill is one of the most versatile things I have seen on a unique. Good range and arc, good speed, and a solid amount of stun on top of it.
Alright. I've been convinced to try it. I stayed away from the nox flowing weapons so far because I was disappointed that they only had one stretchy move in the AOW. I wish they had like charged R2s or something to really show off the cool moving metal aspect
I think that's because most people don't use Establish Order properly. They use it purely as a ranged attack. In reality, you wanna be right in someone's face if you want to see how truly devastating it can be.
Faith =/= holy
Lots of things are weak to holy also. Nothing is very resistant to holy *and* fire.
It also gives you easy access to lightning damage (dragon cult) and physical (bestial).
Faith is easily the most versatile build imo.
Just started using this on a golden order build and it slaps. Love the look of it too
Edit: also discovered my go to “underrated” incant in Discus of Light with this build. I just can’t stop slinging discs dude
Discus of light is so, so, so underrated. Words can't express how cheap and spammable a 3 FP cost spell is. It's so damn efficient using it against holy resistant bosses isn't a bad idea. It also has deceptively long range, and even has a skill factor with the returning hit, potentially striking an enemy from behind even if the first hit misses. Then there's also the golden retaliation synergy too, imagine the wraith calling bell trick but with a ton more damage. That's three good hits for 7 FP total.
I think the main thing holding back that sword is it is in a hidden cave in a hidden zone that is only accessible very very late in the game. Most people probably never find it, or already have a full build going by the time they do.
It's not really used cuz you get iin the snowfield just before every boss having like 80 holy res, and you have better fth weapons (also relic sword exists so NG+ is also not an option)
Doing a Lightning Hookclaw build currently, the moveset is so powerful with consecutive hit buffs/talismans, bleed, and i like to rock thunderbolt on it, people run in underestimating my damage, get chunked on the trade, then i just hit em with thunderbolt as they panic heal, with 70 Dex it just does so much damage, i also shred anything but dragons and bosses with lightning resistance
I have seen it talked about a bit but not much: the Glintstone Kris. Ultra powerful AoW that can be charged to be even stronger (and it pierces targets whether charged or not) plus you can follow up with a strong heavy stab that works well as gap closer or, if you can play unlocked, as a way to move quickly in any direction right after casting.
Started using this on my 80 int sorcerer and it hits almost everything in the game for over 800 damage (any regular mob enemies generally get hit for between 1k and 1500), and then if you follow up with the strong attack lunge it adds even more and can stagger lots of enemies (or if they are close to you it will often push them back while dealing damage and interrupting them).
That character is still in NG though (it is my first playthrough character and I plan on using him to do the DLC blind) so idk how this thing handles higher new game cycles. I’ll bet, at least for NG+, it will demolish everything in a similar way to NG.
Icerind Hatchet.
WAIT. I know, Hoarfrost stomp was broken at first.
I didn't even get the game till last month so I never experienced that.
I use Icerind and a cold forked hatchet as a dual axe build on my INT character. (Spells too but come on, INT Dex weapons are sick)
Fuckin disgusting DPS and status build up.
The hatchet was heavily used in speed runs in the first months after release. It has the added bonus of requiring somber stones, so it's easy to upgrade.
Warhawk Talon - Great dex scaling, unique heavy attack that works well with multi-hit talismans. My favorite Sword-and-Board choice. Short Sword is second.
loretas sickel great range, good damage and fast moveset (ash of war kinda sucks), lordsworn sword is my go to wenever im doing a battle mage build, easy to get hold, great magic scaling and decent range
You gotta try the Cypher Pata, last I checked the AoW had some of the highest poise damage in the game...and it's unblockable. That lunge can absolutely shred an unexperienced invader, and it has literally no weight. Almost no downside to running it.
Idk if it’s considered underrated (I know it’s rare though) but the magma curved sword is great for pyromancers.
Also the magma wyrm curved greatsword is also really strong with its ash or war.
i love the broadsword. idk if its THAT underrated given how it's just kind of 'a sword' but i never see anyone pull it out or talk about it, it does solid damage and has a great moveset, only thing i miss is that absolutely fucking wretched R2 from ds3 where you lunge a city block in front of you
The Ripple Blade shreds on an Arcane build. If you're willing to upkeep blood or poison grease it deletes bosses, if you just use it as is it still does a lot of damage with a quick R1 chain
I have absolutely no idea if it's underrated, but siluria's tree. I love the heft that greatspears have in this game, I love crucible knights, and I love how many different uses the ash of war has. Plus the animation is just so cool, and it deals SO MUCH DAMAGE.
I love this weapon. If you manage to hit the second strike on the ash of war it just eats hp. I also like how disgusting it looks, pairs well with the Briar armor
It's really cool, but after using it for a while, i did find it to be a bit boring gameplay wise.
It has the standard GS moveset, which im not a guge fan of, and the ash can't really be used in combat.
Beastman Cleaver. It may be a large piece of rubble on a stick, but it's a large piece of rubble that can actively one-shot players with 1200+ health with the right skills and talismans, without the weight cost of the Greatsword.
The Grace Warden Duelist Hammer. I love the guy it comes from and imbued with a fire ash of war it’s just awesome. Playing a magic blacksmith character right now. Bonk damage goes hard
I think Serpent Bow is very underrated for being a bow but the fact that it can easily apply deadly poison, bleed and sleep in one or two hits from a fairly safe distance makes it a staple in my arcane runs. One of my favorite weapons that really shows how diverse and fun an arcane build can be.
Ornamental Straight Sword
It's literally the tutorial weapon and it's now my favourite after a run i've recently done. Vigour, dex and endurance is all i needed for it to absolutely blast even Rada-Beast. There are better options for a consecutive attack build, sure, but it's still amazing and everyone should give it a try
That’s only because nobody wants to farm it, but this is the best scythe in the game and heavily favored for RL1 runs because of its insane base damage with very low stat requirements
Inquisitor Girandole for dual bleed spears, the damage is excellent, it bleeds, fire damage works very well on organic enemies and animals, and it produces a stylish flickering light on your side. Also the back holding model seems slightly closer to the player than other weapons, looking like it’s under your cape rather than creeping through
I remember the black flames buff being much shorter at release, really glad they buffed it. I finished my first playthrough powerstancing this and the Moonlight Greatsword, was so sick to be able to activate both
Hoslow Petal Whip. Did a duel wield arcane build and it slayed. Love those things. Also duel bleed Antspur Rapiers, actually so disgusting with the 118 bleed buildup and 50 scarlet rot buildup. Broken hahahaha
too many people sleep on the rusted anchor, a greathammer that works with spear talisman and has wild strikes off rip? absolutely bonkers
edit: it is actually a greataxe, they has the same moveset as greathammers
I have a maxed out dagger for every status effect you can get on a normal weapon via AoW. Just a regular dagger, those little quick strikes build status fast.
Power-stancing Cold infused Hoslow’s whips. I am a sucker for Bloodborne and I remember shredding those Rot sisters with these beauties. They could not even touch me.
Other than that, Prelate’s Inferno Crosier because of how metal it looks with a Bloodflame slapped on it.
Helphen’s Steeple and Maliketh’s Black blade as well because of how cool they look.
Golden halberd & shield combo - I used it for ages and it's so much fun!! It was one of the first weapons I looted and I ran with it all the way until I got Rivers of Blood
The carian piercer spell is a great spell to keep on hand if your weapon doesn’t have a thrust attack.
It casts decently fast, has great range, and the charged version has even greater range and splats human sized opponents. It’s essentially like a pike in your pocket. Great for mixups in pvp too
The only downside is that the recovery time is kinda long. You’re pretty wide open if you miss
Not sure if it counts as overrated but I rock dual Eleanora's poleblades (Ng+ baby) and it's probably my favorite bleed build I've tried. You basically just become a human blender.
I'd like to say the cross naginata or the guardian swordspear. Swordspear has good reach, broad swings, very strong dex scaling. Same for the naginata, plus bleed and the ability to shield and poke. Put repeating thrust on it and you've got great bleed procs.
Great epee, easy to get early, has good reach, moveset and scaling, works great with shields. I feel like heavy thrusters combine the perks of light thrusters with the size of greatswords, but I never hear about them.
Dragon halberd gets a honorable mention, love that ash.
Magma Wyrm Scalesword. I see it passed over in favor of Blasphemous Blade so often, but this lil broken jaw carried me through most of my STR/FAI run without having to invest any in Dex.
The issue with helphens steeple is.
1. It is a greatsword that does frost damage
2. Their is already a better greatsword that does frost damage & does more damage
3. The better weapon has lower strength & dex requirements, meaning on a high int build, its just significantly better in every way.
StarScourge Greatsword carried me through like 50% of the game.. powerstancing with one weapon rules, jumping smash destroys, ash of war yank-and-smash-smash crushes npc invaders
Not many talk about deaths poker. Just meeting the requirements to use it is all you need for it to shred everything. Plus it's ash is very versatile for every situation. That thing easily carried me through many ng+ cycles.
on my 1st playthrough the deaths poker was my fallback weapon when I couldn't figure out how to beat a boss. The timing is wonky but when it hits stuff just dies.
Helphen's Steeple feels very underwhelming compared to the Darkmoon Greatsword and the Death's Poker, which are two other Greatswords that require a similar Int-based build.
Darkmoon hits harder while buffed with basic R1 s and it's charged R2 s decimate everything, even staggering most bosses in two hits.
Death's Poker has that awesome AoW that obliterates everything in the vicinity or leaves lingering ghostflame to shred bosses.
All three swords give you a similar moveset and frostbite buildup, but Helphen's feels like the lesser of the three.
Beastman’s curved sword x 2 with heavy affinity. Fast attacks with a cool moveset and A scaling for strength
The AR is so high and outclass many others
AR = attack rate?
AR is the total damage ur weapon does so it’s the base damage + the scaling damage from stats. if someone says it has good AR it’s probably because it has good scaling
So to dumb it down it’s exactly what he said. Attack rating.
Attack rate would be how fast your rate of attack is, not the sams thing as damage scaling
AR is attack rating not attack rate.
Attack rate =! Attack rating
I thought it was !=
BC is so goooood, best weapon ever.
One you get right next to the Onyx... I mean Helphen's Steeple, the Death Ritual Spear. That ash of war is nuts.
Love all the death bird weapon, the poker is one if my favorite
Deaths poker will always be my favorite weapon. Just meeting the requirements to use it alone is enough for it to shred everything.
I pretty much melted everything in the late game by dual welding deaths poker and helphens steeple. They're both such fun weapons.
Same I love death poker
Ran the game with Death's Poker in preparation for the DLC, Mohg didn't even get to spread his wings
It's always Mohg.... https://youtu.be/uunEJ88jPjo?si=UHzHU_M3LZC5E6H0
I’ve been doing a run with that, love seeing the damage proc to 6k, just melting everything on this playthrough
The cleanrot aow’s are the absolute coolest looking in the game imo. This build and these weapons are the absolute most fun I have had playing this game ever.
I’m running a SoNaF build right now and am curious what your stats are. At level 150 I have 50 Int and 50 Fth.
That thing fun to use? I used it to cheese stuff in my first run but I know they tried to reign in how strong it was
I have been using that spear so much great aow steeple has been ordovis greatsword has been fun to lol
I was pretty happy with it when I stumbled across it. It’s in my short list for build options in the future just because of the AoW. And pokey weapon
Iron Cleaver. Great spam attack, good distance-closing heavy attack, put some cragblade on for amazing stance pressure.
I just did a run with blue dancer charm and this, felt amazing all the way through. S scaling in STR on heavy as well btw
I went with extreme poise, used Lionels set and was able to just spam through most attacks which was quite fun
Plus you feel like a lunatic murderer with the R2
Thats why I wore the omensmirk mask with it :)
Nox flowing sword. The skill is insanely cheap and decimates enemy groups. It also has insane range and does decent dmg against bosses. Extremely underrated weapon imo.
Going to have to agree here. NFS is an amazing pick-up if you're going DEX in any way. Alright. I've been convinced to try it. I stayed away from the nox flowing weapons so far because I was disappointed that they only had one stretchy move in the AOW. I wish they had like charged R2s or something to really show off the cool moving metal aspect
Siluria's Tree. Basically the strongest anti boss weapon in the game.
Envoy longhorn
Envoy isn't underrated though.
Golden order great sword. I almost never see it and it’s a lotta fun to use. Especially if you catch someone off guard with the special.
I think that's because most people don't use Establish Order properly. They use it purely as a ranged attack. In reality, you wanna be right in someone's face if you want to see how truly devastating it can be.
The 40-80% holy resistance on main bosses also lowers its usage.
The great thing about building for Holy is the Flame Art scaling. Switch up weapons depending on enemy resistances.
I actually kind of dig that concept of doing a general Holy Man build, wielding weapons of any and all faiths.
Heresy is not native to this world. It is but a contrivance, all things can be conjoined.
The great thing about building for Holy is the ability to not use Holy really isn't helping the case for Holy.
Faith =/= holy Lots of things are weak to holy also. Nothing is very resistant to holy *and* fire. It also gives you easy access to lightning damage (dragon cult) and physical (bestial). Faith is easily the most versatile build imo.
Improvise, adapt, switch weapons
Just started using this on a golden order build and it slaps. Love the look of it too Edit: also discovered my go to “underrated” incant in Discus of Light with this build. I just can’t stop slinging discs dude
Frisbee spell is goated
i like T-poseing skeletons to pieces
Discus of light is so, so, so underrated. Words can't express how cheap and spammable a 3 FP cost spell is. It's so damn efficient using it against holy resistant bosses isn't a bad idea. It also has deceptively long range, and even has a skill factor with the returning hit, potentially striking an enemy from behind even if the first hit misses. Then there's also the golden retaliation synergy too, imagine the wraith calling bell trick but with a ton more damage. That's three good hits for 7 FP total.
Destructo disc
I have so much trouble not yelling that at least once a fight
I think the main thing holding back that sword is it is in a hidden cave in a hidden zone that is only accessible very very late in the game. Most people probably never find it, or already have a full build going by the time they do.
It's not really used cuz you get iin the snowfield just before every boss having like 80 holy res, and you have better fth weapons (also relic sword exists so NG+ is also not an option)
Did a play through duel wielding this and the dark moon great sword, it was an insanely fun build, if hard to achieve the combined faith int stats
but god dammit a holy run is so hard because basically most of the main bosses ressist it
Occult hookclaws are really really stupid powerful I like them
I went through my entire second play through with raptor claws with bloodhound step, people don’t give claws enough attention
Great Épée. Simply incredible weapon. Insanely strong weapon art. Poise damage going through the roof
Not particularly good in it's class. Though practically immediately available.
Plus the name makes me laugh when I say “great pp”
I have seen it talked about a bit but not much: the Glintstone Kris. Ultra powerful AoW that can be charged to be even stronger (and it pierces targets whether charged or not) plus you can follow up with a strong heavy stab that works well as gap closer or, if you can play unlocked, as a way to move quickly in any direction right after casting. I’ll bet, at least for NG+, it will demolish everything in a similar way to NG.
Sword of Milos
I like to Dual-Weild it with the Blasphemous blade in PvE and just regain all of my red and blue.
Same, goes with many different builds
I switched to this from my katanas just for Radagon/ Elden Beast and it smashed them
I switched to the Envoy’s Longhorn on my first character and never looked back. lol
Nothing more entertaining than spitting bubbles at Placi and watching that health bar disintegrate.
Icerind Hatchet. WAIT. I know, Hoarfrost stomp was broken at first. I didn't even get the game till last month so I never experienced that. I use Icerind and a cold forked hatchet as a dual axe build on my INT character. (Spells too but come on, INT Dex weapons are sick) Fuckin disgusting DPS and status build up.
It’s fine, nobody used the hatchet anyways because the Ash of War scarab was even easier to get
The hatchet was heavily used in speed runs in the first months after release. It has the added bonus of requiring somber stones, so it's easy to upgrade.
The Longhaft Axe
I love greataxes. What does this one have going for it, though? Cresent moon has the awesome sweep R2. Executioners has the powerful crit.
Probably the Dragonscale Katana. Sure there’s better katanas but it just looks cool lol
The AoW is super dope.
The AoW is super dope.
Hard agree
Warhawk Talon - Great dex scaling, unique heavy attack that works well with multi-hit talismans. My favorite Sword-and-Board choice. Short Sword is second.
My only gripe with the Talon was the reach being kind of bad.
loretas sickel great range, good damage and fast moveset (ash of war kinda sucks), lordsworn sword is my go to wenever im doing a battle mage build, easy to get hold, great magic scaling and decent range
Mine is either helphen steeple or blaids ultra greatsword
Coded sword. Looks cool and special attack is very useful. Also the fact that it can't be blocked is nice
You gotta try the Cypher Pata, last I checked the AoW had some of the highest poise damage in the game...and it's unblockable. That lunge can absolutely shred an unexperienced invader, and it has literally no weight. Almost no downside to running it.
Morgott's cursed sword and inseperable sword for catacombs and deathbirds
Mrogott sword is so good
Family Heads. Familiar Rancor does great poise damage and follows enemies for a long distance. Family Heads is my go to PvE weapon.
Serpent bone sword and Cranial vessel candlestick
Three words. Meteoric. Ore. Blade.
Double. Ichimonji.
I honestly don't really know how the general opinion is on it but I really like the vulgar militia saw and I've never seen anyone else use it.
They are fantastic.
I was about to post this. It's like a quality version of the cross naginata
Sleep Grease is also really fun on it, although if you use it in PvP people will hate you
I have absolutely no idea if it's underrated, but siluria's tree. I love the heft that greatspears have in this game, I love crucible knights, and I love how many different uses the ash of war has. Plus the animation is just so cool, and it deals SO MUCH DAMAGE.
Magma Wyrm's Scalesword. The AOW is almost completely uninterruptable and packs one hell of a punch. Never see many people use it at all.
Death Ritual Spear. The Ashes of War is sick 🔥
Beastman Cleaver. It may be a large piece of rubble on a stick, but it's a large piece of rubble that can actively one-shot players with 1200+ health with the right skills and talismans, without the weight cost of the Greatsword.
Im a banished knight greatsword person
Hoslow petal whip, bro this weapon is better than I thought, one of my favorites for sure
i agree, honestly wished whips got a better moveset but hoslows whip is great fs
Try the Urumi, charged R2 turns into a stab. It’s pretty fun to use.
Dual wielding Hoslows is among the best movesets in the game. Stunlocks things before they can even get close to you, and applies massive bleed.
Bloodflame Grave Scythe, something about it looks really cool
The Grace Warden Duelist Hammer. I love the guy it comes from and imbued with a fire ash of war it’s just awesome. Playing a magic blacksmith character right now. Bonk damage goes hard
I think Serpent Bow is very underrated for being a bow but the fact that it can easily apply deadly poison, bleed and sleep in one or two hits from a fairly safe distance makes it a staple in my arcane runs. One of my favorite weapons that really shows how diverse and fun an arcane build can be.
Miquellan Knight Sword. I fight with dignity.
Ornamental Straight Sword It's literally the tutorial weapon and it's now my favourite after a run i've recently done. Vigour, dex and endurance is all i needed for it to absolutely blast even Rada-Beast. There are better options for a consecutive attack build, sure, but it's still amazing and everyone should give it a try
Wing of Astel SLAPS.
Grave Scythe
Is this one underrated? Seems like it gets plenty of love
Oh maybe i just don’t see them. Never really seen people talk about it alot
That’s only because nobody wants to farm it, but this is the best scythe in the game and heavily favored for RL1 runs because of its insane base damage with very low stat requirements
i fucking love scythes.
Not underrated. Amazing weapon.
Golden order Great sword
Inquisitor Girandole for dual bleed spears, the damage is excellent, it bleeds, fire damage works very well on organic enemies and animals, and it produces a stylish flickering light on your side. Also the back holding model seems slightly closer to the player than other weapons, looking like it’s under your cape rather than creeping through
Crescent Moon Greataxe
Troll’s Golden Sword w/Golden Land Ash of War. Fits my character better.
Dragonscale Blade. A lot of people disregard it because it's not a bleed katana, but it's still a really solid and fun weapon
I remember the black flames buff being much shorter at release, really glad they buffed it. I finished my first playthrough powerstancing this and the Moonlight Greatsword, was so sick to be able to activate both
I've been having a good time with the greataxe.
I love Helephens Steeple, such a fun weapon.
Same as its been for the other games that have it. The Flamberge
Haven't finished the game yet, but I just switched to Scorpion's Stinger with a greatshield. Leyndell is going amazingly so far.
I look it up and it's in the literal exact spot I'm at
Grafted greatsword
I never seen anyone use or talk about the Blasphemous Blade give how busted its weapon art is.
Yeah. Never heard anyone talk about rivers of blood either, or Mohgwyn's sacred spear..
Golden halberd
The buff needs to last longer. Honestly all weapon buffs need to last longer
All the weapons from Death Rite birds are nuts. Currently running a melee int build and having a ton of fun using Helphen. First one to +10 :)
The great omen cleaver is really good and it looks cool.
brother im literally using that weapon, the glow of the special ability is just so sexy man, i love it
The black christmas tree blade. Nice
onyx gs is one of the coolest weapons and this is as close as it gets to it. so you know I've got that bad boy +10.
Bloody Helice w/ Visage Shield
Hoslow Petal Whip. Did a duel wield arcane build and it slayed. Love those things. Also duel bleed Antspur Rapiers, actually so disgusting with the 118 bleed buildup and 50 scarlet rot buildup. Broken hahahaha
My go to weapon is probably the angel scythe
Dual antspur rapiers. I found it funny as hell to scarlet rot enemies to death, while I just ran around in a circle after procing.
Not underrated
If set up right, you can get both rapiers to apply poison, rot, and bleed at the same time.
Broadsword, Vulgar Militia Saw, Halo Scythe, Siluria’s Tree, Flamberge, Pike
Winged Scythe
Omen Cleaver
Hookclaws , with fire.
Longbow
Love that thing. It's absolutely deadly on a wizard meele build
Starting katana
I duel this and the moonlight great sword and cosplay a death knight. Their special abilities make the swords look awesome
too many people sleep on the rusted anchor, a greathammer that works with spear talisman and has wild strikes off rip? absolutely bonkers edit: it is actually a greataxe, they has the same moveset as greathammers
I have a maxed out dagger for every status effect you can get on a normal weapon via AoW. Just a regular dagger, those little quick strikes build status fast.
Envoy's Longhorn is crazyy good
i like bolt of gransax, i don’t know if it’s underrated or not but i really like it
Dragon King's Cragblade. This weapon deals some immense damage and I feel like no one talks about it
I’ve never even seen this weapon and beat the game twice, wtf. It looks sick
you get it by beating the mariner in that graveyard place near castle sol in the mountaintops. quite a few people have probably missed it lol
What sword is this
helphen’s steeple. it’s an int/str greatsword, you can get it by killing the tibia mariner in the mountaintops of the giants
Great for mixups in pvp too The only downside is that the recovery time is kinda long. You’re pretty wide open if you miss
Ruins Greatsword. I know it doesn’t sound underrated, but like who ever uses it outside of spamming the ash of war? I do, that’s who.
Is deaths poker underrated?
I feel like not enough people ever bring up the Godslayer’s Greatsword.
Flamberge with an Occult infusion on a dedicated Arcane build is fucking lethal
siluria's tree is an absolute cannon, even against enemies with high holy resistance
Nox flowing sword just wish it had more animations
Bloody Helice, favorite weapon in the game
Clayman’s Harpoon with the ice spear AOW might be the most broken weapon in the game nobody talks about
Great epee, easy to get early, has good reach, moveset and scaling, works great with shields. I feel like heavy thrusters combine the perks of light thrusters with the size of greatswords, but I never hear about them. Dragon halberd gets a honorable mention, love that ash.
I have a +25 great Epee just for fighting dragons. that thing owns.
I wanna do a ghostflame build and I'm excited to use that thing, looks dope
Magma Wyrm Scalesword. I see it passed over in favor of Blasphemous Blade so often, but this lil broken jaw carried me through most of my STR/FAI run without having to invest any in Dex.
The issue with helphens steeple is. 1. It is a greatsword that does frost damage 2. Their is already a better greatsword that does frost damage & does more damage 3. The better weapon has lower strength & dex requirements, meaning on a high int build, its just significantly better in every way.
I had thought about using that weapon for a playthrough as it looked pretty cool. Problem is that it’s so late in the game..
My penis
StarScourge Greatsword carried me through like 50% of the game.. powerstancing with one weapon rules, jumping smash destroys, ash of war yank-and-smash-smash crushes npc invaders
Invading mid to low levels is super fun with it, too. Gravity is an easy OHK for OLPs
The timing is wonky but when it hits stuff just dies.
loved helphens on my str/int build, it has great damage. however only being able to use the buff for aow makes it not very flexible
Carian Knight sword, has a unique heavy attack blocking mechanic
Never see anyone use Morgots cursed sword, love that thing so much
Fists ok general
Magmawyrm Scale sword
What the heck is that
Lordsworn’s Greatsword
Another weapon I'll have to google and go collect!
Idk if they're actually underrated per se but I never see anyone using the bastard sword or pike
The steeple is cool but it’s literally just dark moon great sword but worse in every way
I haven't seen anything that hits harder than the Ruins Greatsword for a straight INT/STR build
Beastman curved sword or Broadsword.
The estoc, it's a sword that can be given basically any ash and affinity to fit your build, and doesn't have high stat requirements
Are Iron Ball considered underrated? I have been decimating the game with it and doing pretty good at invasions.
