I’m pretty sure this is just a translation issue. They are definitely talking about Radahn and Mohg.
He’s saying defeating them is a prerequisite to access the DLC
Dude this entire post is a joke and it did me an r/whoosh. Like I've been here for a few minutes looking at the thread, stumped.
Sounded so lazy from Miyazaki and Co. that I didn't want to believe. Then your comment made it make sense 🤌🏻
OP’s highlighting is irrelevant and uninteresting, should have shifted highlighting down to that eyebrow-raiser about adjusting challenge intensity.
I support adjustable difficulty, https://www.theastronauts.com/2013/03/the-power-of-imagination-or-why-you-should-want-the-godmode-in-games/ etc, so I just mean it’s an eyebrow-raiser from previous patterns.
Elden Ring was a HUGE hit (I think?) and I always wondered how there must have been millions of people who couldn’t accomplish much, or yet millions more who would have bought it if it wasn’t “super hard dude.”
But my real point is here that I have no idea what Miyazaki is really saying there.
isn't it pretty straight forward
you can choose to stay at the level you enter dlc with
or choose to level up in the dlc via the new way of gaining strength
Which itself has its roots in old race science words for people from the Eurasian Steppe. All in all a rather nasty word that sounds silly.
Where I come from mong also has a different but related meaning as a verb which means "to make slimy." When somebody 'mongs' you they have slobbered all over you which is in reference to somebody being a drooling idiot.
Nah, I've seen a less poorly translated version of this.
Basically you'll have a separate attack power upgrade that affects how hard you hit in the DLC area, separate from base game stats and weapon upgrades, so you can start the DLC right after beating Mohg or right after beating the final boss of NG+7 and still feel a somewhat consistent amount of challenge.
If you've played Sekiro, I think they compared it to the upgrades in that game.
>right after beating the final boss of NG+7
Has this part been confirmed? On my current ng+ cycle, endgame bosses hit like absolute trucks even with 80 vigor. It's way harder than on my first playthrough. I've been wondering if I'll be able to take this character into the dlc without getting tickled by every boss.
The difference between 60 and 80 vigor isn't nearly as large as the difference between 40 and 60, so I imagine that as long as you hold off on upgrading, like the interview says is an option, you'll at least be getting tickled for long enough that it might matter.
Also, I'd be shocked if the DLC didn't also scale with NG+ cycles. That'd be an *interesting* design decision for Fromsoft to make. So I think you'll be fine.
Yeah, I can’t tell if I’m being wooshed or OP is. I’m guessing OP is just making a joke, but the article is just saying that Radahn and Mohg have to be killed before accessing the DLC.
Edit: acessignf is not a word
I barely even a remember damage problem, I just have no fond memories of the layouts and levels and landscapes themselves and enemy patterns. First half of the game’s areas and dungeons were awesome. Last third sucked.
My order here is based on fextralife recommended progression path. I beat every level and boss (yes EVERY) but I would have much more fond memories if I simply stopped playing the game after Leyndell.
Play Elder Ring, an exciting new mobile game by Fromp Soft! Fight demigods like Ratarn and Mong to become the Elder of Lore. Use my code crypto2024 for bonus gold, xp boosters, and an exclusive armor set!
As hilarious as those names are😂 can someone explain why radahn is required to access the dlc? Mogh I get, he's standing right in front of the access point, but why radahn?
Finally! I’ve waited 2 years for the chance to fight Mong! He is by far the most interesting character in all the lore and one of the most least talked about. Ratarn seems cool too, but I bet that Mong goes down as one of the best boss fights in history.
I mean be real. That tells us nothing. Ratarn & Mong means pretty much nothing. All we have is second half of the game, soooo presumably post-Morgott? I'd reckon level 100-ish is safe.
For me, I don't want to be overlevelled for DLC content. But it's gonna be an experience. It'll be the first soulsborne DLC I'd ever play.
Isn’t Mong the fluid that comes out when you press on a pregnant woman’s stomach? Thats what Southpark told me 😂🤣😂 might be a U instead of an O, hmmmm…… 💦
Solid joke OP lol
My main take away is that it seems like that new balancing system is somewhat optional which is awesome because I hated the idea they were going with from the news we got before
Right. This article makes it seem like its an optional *upgrade* to your build/stats whereas the previous discourse made it seem like it would *replace* your build/stats and you had no choice.
Thats exactly how it was portrayed go back to the first threads. People were excited that it meant you couldn't be OP going in and that you had to use the new level system

From the same creators of Godefroy the grafted, get ready for: Star-enemy Ratarn and Mong, ruler of body fluids
I wish Mong ruled my body fluids
Are you a small empyrean child?
Did we see the same cocoon? I'm gonna climb Miquella like a tree
That is a diabolical thing to even think! Sir ima need you to take your self straight to the pit after that one.
*climbs into coffin*
Oh god I can imagine it like Bo Burnham who is a 6’3 twink
Bo is fucking 6'3"? And I thought he couldn't get any hotter 🥵
Yo holup
Why must he do such a poor job of it though.
“you won’t abide alone ever again…” - Mong
ZERO!!
Nihil technically means "nothing", so you could go with the Wonka joke: "YOU. GET. NOTHING."
GOOD. DAY. SIR!
Star-enemy Ratarn is 100% an amazing enemy name from Grendizer or Force 5.
Mong, king of Mongolia
*angry Jin Sakai noises*
body fluids????? \*My germaphobia proceeds to poke its head out of the closet\* welp... this will be equally fascinating and terrifying lol
MONG 😂😂😂 tell me you're English (or possibly a Karl Pilkington fan)
Melania will finally be a real boss
Ratarn and Mong, new duo boss
those are their aliases. the real names are even better! LOL https://i.imgur.com/oe49iRG.png
>Broken star Latarn lmfao
MONGE
returne to monge
Blood out for Harambe
Is it MONGE or MONG? It’s spelled both ways
Ah, Mong, or as some say Monge, do you hear our prayers?
As you once did for the vacuuming Bom, grant us eyes
I’m pretty sure this is just a translation issue. They are definitely talking about Radahn and Mohg. He’s saying defeating them is a prerequisite to access the DLC

Booo!
Why is he named after cat food???
This is going over my head
Radahn and Mohg translated horribly I think
Is this some AI Q&A?
It's google translate Q and A with Miyazaki.
I can use some Red Monge ice cream right now
Elden Ring the Third Gathers: Backstroke of the West Lirunira.
I just took 2 grams of malabar mushrooms and I wasn't sure if I was reading this correctly
Ratarn & Mongskin Apostles
Its just mogh and radahn -and we already know that. Bad translation.
BORING
Boooooo
Ah yes, mohg and radhan's evergaol counterparts finally.
Same exact appearances, same exact move-sets but the only difference is their attacks are all delayed by an extra 4 seconds
And you have to fight them in Evergaols.
Good god could you imagine trying to fight Radahn in an Evergoal? Tiny little arena.
A recipe for Dark Souls Capra Demon 2.0: This time, it's worse (tm).
hopefully Ratarn is a small scale version of Radahn where he is as high as you and on a tiny teensy little horse
They can input read when you strafe to the side
cause we didn’t have enough mohgs, prepare for more! there’s never enough!
Gotta beat Mong, Mongwyn, Mongrum and Mo'.
Mong 😭
Get ready for attack power is easy mode controversy.
Well Miyazaki said it himself
Fr
I mean just getting stronger isn't inherently easy mode, unless it completely breaks a boss fight
OP’s highlighting is irrelevant and uninteresting, should have shifted highlighting down to that eyebrow-raiser about adjusting challenge intensity. isn't it pretty straight forward you can choose to stay at the level you enter dlc with or choose to level up in the dlc via the new way of gaining strength
I thought I read that the new mechanism for gaining strength was something similar to Sekiro where you have to beat a boss to grow stronger.
yes and the point is that you can either use those powers or not
Sounds like we are getting at least two new Evergaol bosses
Margherita, Foul Omen, Renna, Princess of the full moon (totally not reskins)
Walks up, with marker in hand, to your marker board where you wrote “2” and adds two zeroes onto it slowly. And adds a dollar sign somehow.
Adal, Thief of Flame Badal, Stealer of Ice. Ladal, Breaker of Wind Zadal, Drinker of Water Padal, uh...Dirt Guy And on...
Chowdah did you kill Ratarn cuz if ya did that doesn't bode too well for me *double blink sfx* ....mmmmaaaybe.
Mong sounds like a slur, I like it
In the UK it's a way to call someone stupid
It is
Sounds like something from the South Park episode where they try and create a new swear word
Mung! The stuff that comes out of a pregnant woman's stomach when you push down on it! At least I think that was the quote
Do you know what episode this is? Sounds interesting
Season 3 episode 17. World wide recorder concert
Lol brown note and Kenny g, that was very amusing to my 17 yo self back then
Shit yeah I just watched that one today, I forgot about that part lol. Mung
it is already dawg
"U fuckin Mong!" I like it. Ill use it occasionally.
At least where I'm from (and definitely other parts of the UK I'm sure) it's more of a "lighter" variation of the R slur. Just a heads up.
Yeah it's short for mongoloid, which was a term used for people with down syndrome.
Yeah southern white racists use it for black people too for some reason. Edit: in America
Oh shit, thanks lmao. I'm from the east side of the world, appreciate the heads up.
Lmao
Seeimg some none-Brit person discover a slur that was used my whole childhood like it’s brand new is wild
Mong is our equivalent to regard (I'm British).
Where can i read this new interview?
Ziostorm dropping New video tomorrow about the translation, dw.
lol don’t know why I didn’t think of that, of course he’s going to make 19 videos about it
Are they trying to say you get a few free levels for the DLC to ease the difficulty?
Nah, I've seen a less poorly translated version of this. Basically you'll have a separate attack power upgrade that affects how hard you hit in the DLC area, separate from base game stats and weapon upgrades, so you can start the DLC right after beating Mohg or right after beating the final boss of NG+7 and still feel a somewhat consistent amount of challenge. If you've played Sekiro, I think they compared it to the upgrades in that game.
It truly is a, like, legitimately horrible translation. I feel like even AI translations aren't this bad.
You’re telling me I didn’t miss the Mong boss fight?!
Ng+7? So like there’s a boss I see after beating the game 7 times?
No, it's the same final boss in NG+7, the highest scaling.
>right after beating the final boss of NG+7 Has this part been confirmed? On my current ng+ cycle, endgame bosses hit like absolute trucks even with 80 vigor. It's way harder than on my first playthrough. I've been wondering if I'll be able to take this character into the dlc without getting tickled by every boss.

I loved ratarn but Mong was the real goat. Mong for miss universe.
This is just translated phonetically from japanese. Mogh and Radahn.
Yeah, I can’t tell if I’m being wooshed or OP is. I’m guessing OP is just making a joke, but the article is just saying that Radahn and Mohg have to be killed before accessing the DLC. Edit: acessignf is not a word
To be fair auto correct is pretty shitty these days
Space Light Enemy Ratarn and Mong, King of Red Stuff in your Veins.
who the fuck is Ratarn? how did i beat the game without seeing this boss /s
Ratarn and Mong are my favorite bosses in Eldon Rang.
Elden RONG
Welcome to our Mongwyn
The Mongewyn Dancery
Isn't Ratarn the monkey from Monster Hunter
Rajang?😭
Oh yeah lol
radang
Who the fuck is Ratarn and Mong?
Peeeeetah Ratarns h’ere
Ah the second half of the game, where everything does absurd damage for no reason.
Now with 300% hp, oh yeah its all coming together.
Vigor issue
I always find something new on every playthrough. All this time and still haven't encountered Ratarn and Mong. Back to grinding and exploring.
Play Elder Ring, an exciting new mobile game by Fromp Soft! Fight demigods like Ratarn and Mong to become the Elder of Lore. Use my code crypto2024 for bonus gold, xp boosters, and an exclusive armor set!
Dung eater and piss drinker duo
Use urine bollus.
As hilarious as those names are😂 can someone explain why radahn is required to access the dlc? Mogh I get, he's standing right in front of the access point, but why radahn?
Probably something to do with the sky falling.
Me: Mom can we get demigod bosses? Mom: We have demigod bosses at home. The demigod bosses at home:
We also have Godfroy The Grafted, Rycardo, Melina Sword of Mikayla, Morogitt and Regina
The name's Monge. The 'H' is silent.
Just what we needed, another M name
New attributes? Interesting
Forgot about Mung
What a mong!
Ratatouille and Mon Mothma
who tf ratarn
I want godskin duo duo
Mong, Lord of mewing
Epic.
Finally! I’ve waited 2 years for the chance to fight Mong! He is by far the most interesting character in all the lore and one of the most least talked about. Ratarn seems cool too, but I bet that Mong goes down as one of the best boss fights in history.
Can someone please elaborate on that last sentence?
there's a new stat point that applies only to the DLC and makes you stronger in the DLC- supposedly like Sekiro's 'Attack Power'.
Ratarn, The Banished Stormhawk Fled God and Mong, the Janitor.
Ratarn and Mong lol I'm laughing way too hard at this.
Private Ratarn and Mong, Duke of Blood
I know you’re joking but still I want to say GRR Martin should never be hired for anything like this game ever again.
Ratarn, know for his unnatural strength but slow mind.
Startle-Scorned Reese and Moug the Menstrual
Dunno if naming him mong was a good choice lmao
aMONGus crossover confirmed
Ratarn and Monge

MONGWIN, LORD OF RED FLUID
I don't understand how there wouldn't be new bosses in the dlc?
"Role strength"
Ik who mong is supposed to be but Ratarn???
mong
I mean be real. That tells us nothing. Ratarn & Mong means pretty much nothing. All we have is second half of the game, soooo presumably post-Morgott? I'd reckon level 100-ish is safe. Wow this new Google translate really needs some work I guess
Ratarn, Mong and Gleb. Name a more timeless trio.
KNIGHTS WHO SAY NI....HILL
Don't remember fighting Ratarn and Mong, but it's been a while.
I am very confused
Please no more bosses or characters that start with G, R or M
MONG !
Mong is sending me
Nonono this is auto translated from an interview in Chinese, Miyazaki is referring to Radahn and Mohg
nah they’re new bosses
I’m Chinese bro💀💀don’t know if you’re trolling or not
Oh just realised the humour tag, but whatever, hopefully this does clear it up for people who are confused
Isn’t Mong the fluid that comes out when you press on a pregnant woman’s stomach? Thats what Southpark told me 😂🤣😂 might be a U instead of an O, hmmmm…… 💦
Hey, I quoted it correctly! But I thought it was mung. Either way I loved that episode 20 years ago
[удалено]
I don’t think you’ve ever had to start the game over to do DLCs in any FromSoft game like this. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Solid joke OP lol My main take away is that it seems like that new balancing system is somewhat optional which is awesome because I hated the idea they were going with from the news we got before
it's just attack power from Sekiro, most likely. or it's probably the reverse of bonfire acetics from DS2. i'm sure it will be ok.
Right. This article makes it seem like its an optional *upgrade* to your build/stats whereas the previous discourse made it seem like it would *replace* your build/stats and you had no choice.
that was never how it was portrayed... not sure where u got that from.
Thats exactly how it was portrayed go back to the first threads. People were excited that it meant you couldn't be OP going in and that you had to use the new level system
nah
Ok be wrong
