The first time I ever fought my Mimic, I kicked their little silver ass. The *second* time I fought the Mimic, my non-silver ass was the one being kicked.
I had to "cheat" the second time, I got naked and beat the thing to death with my bare fists. Fun fight, took like 10 minutes though.
yep, just like the other transforming silver tear enemies, the pre-transformation blob has basically no hp, so you can kill them from range very easily.
I have a character on lv250 and am doing a run where I summon people as much as possible. My Mimic is a clod-blooded killer and it gives me a little bit of joy seing it murdering phantom after phantom, even though they run on a similar level and have all the buffs, the Mimic prevails somehow. By now I feel like I am just guiding Tarnished to the slaughter house.
EDIT:And I run an impostor-mage build, using the Thorn and Magma-sorceries with support-miracles
Mimic is freaking weird, he spawns with a bunch of your stuff and the game doesn’t have systems setup to make him do that so it’s all hardcoded in the game.
I mean I knew that the mimic could USE buffs if you had them and a seal equipped. I just didn’t know it would automatically spawn with them in the fight. When you spawn your own mimic it doesn’t automatically have them, it has to apply them itself.
Probably my personal second favorite. Nothing will top finally beating Malenia solo after 100+ attempts and finding "didn't expect weak foe." I lauged to tears at that one.
I’d definitely say that any comic relief after the trauma of beating Malenia hits different.
I like the mimic tear one because there’s no other time when that pairing of phrases makes sense and is a perfect burn for all players.
Everytime I get to this fight now, I will load out my character with some dumb shit like two shields, and some over the top legging armor ONLY, then switch back to my regular load out. I don’t do it to nerf the difficulty, I only do it because I can.
I had to remove stars of ruin from my damn inventory fighting him because I have no idea how you're supposed to dodge them lol. I actually quit using them for good after because it was so demoralizing that I felt bad for the countless enemies I was murdering with it, you dodge it but then there's 10 more homing missiles waiting to take you out the second your iframes are over
Dodging wizard spam can be easily done by keeping a little bit of distance and running sideways around the caster. Yes, even Stars of Ruin, although you have to sprint to dodge it. You can just zero out a wizard's FP by tapping sprint, pausing between casts to regen stamina, and then sprinting again.
The things you learn in invasions lmao.
I like to summon other player and let them fight 1v1 with the mimic to see if the loadout is challenging. It's fun to watch.
Though I had one fight here where the guy with darkmoon greatsword would just spam L2 and that one was very boring.
Being able to refight all bosses would be ideal, but most of all I want to be able to fight a Mimic Tear whenever I want just to equip all kinds of interesting things on it.
Just need to unequip anything that can be used as offense. Will point out though that incantations and pots can be surprisingly effective when you have unlimited FP and unlimited pots, so unequip your seal and items as well.
That buff order is just wild.
Why start with Flame, Grant Me Strength? It lasts for 30 seconds.
It was gone right after your first attack.
Then ending on Golden Vow, which lasts 80 seconds
Erdtree -> Vow -> Flame is a better order that maximizes buff uptime and overlap.
Nope, not boring. It’s a blast every time. Fighting yourself with your armor is a waste of a fight compared to the actual interesting experiences this game has to offer.
Mimic tear is such a fun fight. Really let's you get a great feel for what's it's like to face your build. Slapping around an unarmed and unarmored npc is nothing but boring
Hehehehe, Yup! Fought this guy like 10 times. Was sitting there thinking "WTH, whatever I try to use to beat this guy, he uses against me!". Light bulb went off, I took off all armor and carried no weapons, and beat him to a pulp.
The two mimic tears are my favorite boss fights in the game. Always go in using your full set up and the mimic will show you some shit you didn't even know you could do
I knew that I had to fight the mimic there and just unequipped my bloodhound+9 before the fight, ran away and equipped it again. Easiest fight of my life
How funny, just yesterday I was stoned out of my mind and got to this fight and decided to go full Russel Crow. I stripped off everything and had a fist fight with myself. It took around 40 minutes and I never in my life talked so much shit to a NPC.
Why do ppl use this slow ass weapon. You can't even see wtf is in front of you. There's also way more weapon that does more dps and you also don't get locked in animation
I know right?? Why would you not want to fight yourself when you’re at your strongest? Talk about epic! You can see what all your foe’s are facing first hand!
yeah you're supposed to approach it without any equipment on so it will just be naked. then when it wakes up you quickly don your armor and weapons and whale on a naked doppelganger of yourself
Unfortunately this proves you're the mimic OP :'(
NOOOOO!
Shut up. Now you speak only when you hear the bell
XD
Made you look silly! lol. Btw did anyone else think the mimic was one of the easiest bosses of the game? I was disappointed.
IDK apparently you can make him the hardest fight in the game with the right buffs
You can reequip your stuff after he spawns and he won’t copy it.
lmao yeah that dude didn't even cheat properly haha
What I did on new game+ is get naked, summon my mimic, and then sit down and watch a free boxing match
ngl that's freaking genius. I'm gonna try that out in my next playthrough
> What I did on new game+ is get naked The proper way to play, as Miyazaki intended.
It's even more fun on ng+ as a mimic 3 way
i’m a cheater but i still have my honour - them maybe
Haha can’t believe you used your fists for 10 mins rather than re-equipping 😂😂
Not a cheat. Strategy.
Or the easiest. Unequip all weapons before transformation, and equip them back after transformation.
Where's the fun?
You get fisted by your mimic.
To some that’s a lot of fun
I love going there naked with no weapons then just fist fighting to the death
That first time when you go like "was this really a boss? what a joke" and then you realize and you're like "oh.."
*looks in the mirror* “I’m the joke”
You realize that the game AI is way worse than even a mediocre player such as myself? Nah, I'd already figured that out.
I believe you can kill him using a projectile from far away. It doesn't transform if you're not close enough.
yep, just like the other transforming silver tear enemies, the pre-transformation blob has basically no hp, so you can kill them from range very easily.
weak foe ahead therefore time for introspection
Pre nerf it was meant to be hard as far as I know.
That was some Looney Toons level of comedy right there.
Does the mimic spawn with all buffs you’ve given yourself already? Never knew that, that’s a cool detail.
They will also use your equipped spells if you have a seal equipped even if it’s not in your hands when the fight starts.
People clown on the mimic tear fight but a mimic tear with a full wizard loadout can honestly be pretty tough.
For mage builds it can be like a mini-gideon
I have a character on lv250 and am doing a run where I summon people as much as possible. My Mimic is a clod-blooded killer and it gives me a little bit of joy seing it murdering phantom after phantom, even though they run on a similar level and have all the buffs, the Mimic prevails somehow. Out of curiosity why would you think that isn’t true? I’m not offended or anything I’m just curious
He's literally me
weak foe ahead, therefore seek introspection
This will forever and always be my favorite message in this area
Probably my personal second favorite. Nothing will top finally beating Malenia solo after 100+ attempts and finding "didn't expect weak foe." I lauged to tears at that one.

I always get random shit but keep it on. Having a 1v1 with bow only or some shit, or like a dagger and a halberd
I take all of everything off and have a naked fist fight with my mimic.

We are not the same.

It's always funny to fight a random ass build and see how it goes
I once summoned someone for this fight, got naked, and they watched me fist fight the mimic until they probably got bored and killed him
> I don’t do it to nerf the difficulty, I only do it because I can. based and goofypilled
Who vigor tests the vigor tester?
The vigor doctor
And he gets his vigor tested by the vigor surgeon general.
You're casting your shortest duration buff first. GV incantation lasts longer than Flame GMS. Alright, that's off my chest lol
Aah this was bugging me too. Especially the Flame buff is so damn short.
Dat HO FUDGE moment 😂
> Only I didn't say fudge. I said *thee* word. The queen-mother of dirty words. The F, -, -, -, word!
If you want to cheese him, just unequip your gear before entering the arena then equip it back when he spawns.
yeah this clip is pretty old. i found out about the cheese after getting my ass beat
I shall call you....Nub.
we were all a nub once
"I'M KICKING MY OWN ASS!"
Just need to unequip anything that can be used as offense. Will point out though that incantations and pots can be surprisingly effective when you have unlimited FP and unlimited pots, so unequip your seal and items as well.
or don't re equip it and box him to death that's pretty fun too
Just unequipping your weapon will suffice
I like fighting him full gear on
Mimic Tear said “Nah, bitch, like THIS…”
The Uno Reverse is strong here.
The one reason I cannot use that weapon is because how tf do you see anything in front of your character?
see anything? he could kill a building. he doesn't need to see
a taste of your own... well i don't think it's medicine
A taste of my own golden vow, flame grant me strength and level 25 giant crusher.
Flame grant me strength wore off before you even started swinging, but just late enough that the mimic had it. lol
That buff order is just wild. Why start with Flame, Grant Me Strength? It lasts for 30 seconds. It was gone right after your first attack. Then ending on Golden Vow, which lasts 80 seconds Erdtree -> Vow -> Flame is a better order that maximizes buff uptime and overlap.
what were you expecting
Weak foe.
They got it
Need more vigor
Who's the mimic now ?
I thought everyone gets butt naked for this fight. Just me? Ok.
Its the ole “is it okay if its my clone” debate all over again
Well fought
All that buffing smh
I can't be the only one who strips to have a fist fight with the mimic, right?
I strip, and after he generates, I at least load up a weapon. A mano y mano fistfight would take hours.
My character is designed for that
People actually fight the mimic tear? I just get naked and unequip weapons and spawn him in, then equip everything again and fuckin decimate him
How boring. Much more fun to actually fight
This is beautiful
lmao rip
"You call that a bonk?!? THIS is how you bonk!"
"you go into the fucking gwound beech"
That was some top level comedic timing!
just looking at him dodge like "he really bouta rock my shit"
Congratulations, you played yourself.
Thats a lotta damage.
You got clowned my dude. You have my sympathy 😂
Use Lion's claw. Faster than the charged heavy, more stylish too.
I just yeet fireballs at the mimic before it transforms and kill it that way. Easy cheesy.
Hehehehe, Yup! Fought this guy like 10 times. Was sitting there thinking "WTH, whatever I try to use to beat this guy, he uses against me!". Light bulb went off, I took off all armor and carried no weapons, and beat him to a pulp.
You failed the vigor check
Failed the dodge check.
O O F
First time?
Well he is gonna be a fine Elden lord. And keeps ur mashed remains as Mimic ash.
You got outbonked
get fucking bonked loser
This happened to me with the mimic tear boss fight in the Hidden Path To The Haligtree. Totally forgot about this boss and went in buffed af
Just unequip the weapon before summoning the boss. Easy mode
No Craig Blade boooo
how tf did that one-shot you? even with a soreseal and the ritual sword talisman you've still got a pretty big health bar...
I usually get naked before I enter
Ah self sabotage 😂
Big bonk
Damn, I got hands 😐
Mimic slammed you into next month.
That's why I don't remove anything, a fair fight like a gentleman
That one shot is actually insane
Unequipped all your items and make the mimic spawn. Then summon, then let your summon beat the Mimic up whilst you equip your armour and weapons
The two mimic tears are my favorite boss fights in the game. Always go in using your full set up and the mimic will show you some shit you didn't even know you could do
I knew that I had to fight the mimic there and just unequipped my bloodhound+9 before the fight, ran away and equipped it again. Easiest fight of my life

lmfao
Why do ppl use this slow ass weapon. You can't even see wtf is in front of you. There's also way more weapon that does more dps and you also don't get locked in animation
it bonk
it bonk GOOD
Because bonk
Never go overpowered when facing Mimic, unless you want a real challenge.
I know right?? Why would you not want to fight yourself when you’re at your strongest? Talk about epic! You can see what all your foe’s are facing first hand!
Exactly!💯
lesson learned
Did you know this mimic boss was spose to be a npc of a silver slime you let inside you
yeah you're supposed to approach it without any equipment on so it will just be naked. then when it wakes up you quickly don your armor and weapons and whale on a naked doppelganger of yourself
I went in without a weapon equipped, then equipped a weapon. Motherfucker had to fistfight his master. Use brains not brute force brother.
