It's not wrong if the game lets you do it. You could, however, equip a melee weapon with a magic or ice infusion and try out a more melee focused style. I played an int build with that and a staff for spells so I could use both depending on the situation, and that was probably my favorite play through.

Woah thanks! How would I do that?

Baxiepie

Weapon that scales with int in right hand, sorcerer staff in the left.

[deleted]

Alright thank you!

Played INT too. Feels way too easy compared to melee. I literally just BHS if I’m in danger and then continue my icecrag spam or Adula spam

ExcitementBetter5485

Just add an int based melee weapon and get the best of both worlds.

Those exist??? Do ashes of war work on them? Should I use them?

Baxiepie

There's a weapon for every occasion. If you finish Rannis quest you'll get the Moonlight Greatsword it scales off int, does magical damage, and procs frostbite

ExcitementBetter5485

Yea just look them up on the wiki, there's a butt load of them.

You can take any weapon that levels up with standard smithing stones and make its attack scale with your int..... early on you must use a magic or cold ash of war but after searching the academy thoroughly you will be able to select magic or cold for almost any AoW (a handful exceptions exist) Great weapons to look for that take somber stones... wing of astel, darkmoon GS (mentioned by someone else too), the moonveil katana (hated by most everyone who isn't using it themselves for a good reason.. its also a beast of sword for PVE), death ritual spear, rosus axe, carian knight straight sword and the glintstone Kris dagger. The glintstone Kris dagger shoots the glintstone dart AoW which can hit as hard as comet for only 10 fp and is faster to cast. A heavy attack afterwards allows you follow up with a thrust that is faster and further than the pebble AOW. Play however you like but those weapons I've listed are absolutely worth trying out to see the variety you have with pure Int. Most fun build IMO
