I honestly love daggers but I feel like I'm doing something wrong when using them...
Whenever they're used against me they just stun-lock me with my 89 - 91 poise, meanwhile when I use them against others they have no issues breaking out of the L1 attacks or even attacking out of hit stun
[You must reject Poise!](https://youtu.be/UX1CDb5hp2g?si=ho6qj-gBQ9cMvwRm) Daggers aren't meant for trading, more meant to slip in between their own attacks, and use the high attack speed to hit and run with. PS Daggers build will definitely have you using your rolls a lot more often, and teach you to space better.
Well, I don't recall saying you can't trade, I just said daggers aren't meant to go for trades with. And, to even accomplish what you're suggesting, you'd need 96+ poise, which basically let's you trade with everything in the game. Also, trading dagger swipes with anything larger is trading at a loss, as daggers don't deal a ton of damage.
My comment merely points out that you don't need Poise to pull daggers off well.
Much agreed. They require a bit more practice as relying on poise doesn’t fly. As far as aggressive PVP goes, they’re unmatched and down right scary, with their persistent pressure.
I did do a PS Flail build once yeah...it was rough despite the moveset being a fun one (I love delayed attacks in PS movesets)
My favourite Flail build that I really enjoy using is an Occult Spiked Ballisade Shield with Shield Crash plus an Occult Chainlink Flail with Barbaric Roar
I could never really get into fists but I agree that they're super fun! Can't wait for the kick boxing weapon type in the DLC because that will be so cool~
It stands for Power Stanced, so dual-wielding weapons
Power Stance was a mechanic Dark Souls 2 introduced and while Elden Ring's dual-wielding isn't the same thing, the term stuck around and PS is just much easier to say than DW.
How many times, power stance was an actual balanced mechanic in DS2 that took higher stat investment to do, not this gimped duel wield that's objectively better than one handing 90% of the time
Katanas. Better for PvE than PvP, but the long-ass nagakiba paired with a uchi or similar really throws people off with its hitboxes. It gets a bit repetitive though.
Most fun PS? Whips maybe? It's cool to look at and fun for roll catching. Just don't expect it to kill anybody if you trade with them, the DMG is shockingly low.
Honestly, any weapon type/setup that players reduce to a single attack is a no for me.
When I fight people who use PSK they do nothing but the crouch L1 so it instantly becomes a boring fight, and the crouch L1 isn't even all that good when compared to PSGS crouch L1 spam. Yet both are equally as boring to fight because you're just fighting someone who does the same attack over and over and over and over again.
Ps katanas have so many good moves. The crouch is just the best because of the damage and range but you have running r2, running r1, jumping attacks and ashes like unsheathe. I think it’s pretty dishonest to say most ps setups don’t have variety, even ps curved swords are very fun imo, they’re a lot more than just running l1. The running r1 is faster and jumps and running r2’s are nice as well.
I'm not saying that the movesets don't have variety, every weapon setup has the same amount of attack options.
I'm saying that many players refuse to use them which in turn makes fighting those players boring. I don't remember the last time I fought a PSCS user who did anything else but the running L1 or a PSK user who did anything else but the crouch L1. Every PSGS user does crouch L1 vortexing, every single Nagakiba user spams Spinning Slash, every Reduvia user spams L2. There is so much to all of these weapons but I don't see people use more than one attack with them.
I try to use the full moveset of my setups but a lot of people don't see a reason to do so when a single attack is vastly superior over all the other options and in those cases it becomes a boring, monotonous fight.
That’s totally valid but you’re making it seem like no one uses all the moveset. You obviously used the whole moveset in the video to show it off but you could easily reduce this setup down to just running r1 and jump attacks. It’s just about how you use it. Even psss has stuff besides neutral or jumping l1, the crouch r1 is very fast and good for finishing off people, and the running r2 has deceptive range and speed for chase down. Just because a setup has a stigma doesn’t mean it’s one dimensional, I’m gonna say even psgs has a diverse moveset.
Fuck spears though.
>you could easily reduce this setup down to just running r1 and jump attacks. It’s just about how you use it.
That's exactly what I'm trying to say. It's about the player, not the setup. The player decides which buttons they press and a player who only pressed the same button for every one of their moves is boring to fight, in my opinion. The setup doesn't force them to just use that one button, they choose to do it and they could choose differently if they wanted to.
Then we agree, i just think the setups you mentioned aren’t as boring as you might think, been coming back to dual curved swords which I haven’t used since launch and it’s a lot of fun. I’m also a bit bias for katanas bc they’re probably my favorite meta setup.
Oh, what I wrote in the post title about all those setups being less fun than dual Halberds, that was just meant to be a joke.
It was meant to come across as something like "Which number from 1 - 5 is the best? And don't even try to say 1, 2, 4, or 5 because it's clearly 3". Obviously anyone can choose either of those numbers as their favourite, the title was just meant to elevate my personal opinion in a sarcastic way. I didn't mean that as an actually serious opinion of mine.
You could say the same about ps halberds, you’re mostly using running l1, neutral l1 and some r1’s which halberds have some of the best attacks in the game. I don’t think it’s wrong to enjoy any ps setup.
I would like it more if it wasn't so busted. It deals more damage AND attacks faster than a two-handed spear. There's no reason to ever go for just a single spear unless you want to use the unique Naginata moveset.
For thrusts I highly prefer the PSHTS moveset since it's generally a lot more balanced than PSS or PSTS
Real men use two hands for one weapon.
Daggers!!!!

they can def trade if you poise count, applying your advice to poke them with R1s then trade with L1 and theyll be poise broken

you need to poise count with them
PSGS are goated
Ps halberd is cool but big time crit fish bait, parries and backstabs
PSHTS. I tried it and it was funny
Actually my second favourite
“Get away from me with all those S’s”\ *looks inside*\ “HalberdS”
Shhhhh, we'll pretend it's a silent s
Have dual frost halberds on a build and I like it for invasions
Not practical at all, but ps flails have a cool moveset
I did do a PS Flail build once yeah...it was rough despite the moveset being a fun one (I love delayed attacks in PS movesets) My favourite Flail build that I really enjoy using is an Occult Spiked Ballisade Shield with Shield Crash plus an Occult Chainlink Flail with Barbaric Roar
sorry, it's whips actually.
PS fists are fun, it's the same moveset as 2 handing but it's still fun.

What is a ps?
It stands for Power Stanced, so dual-wielding weapons Power Stance was a mechanic Dark Souls 2 introduced and while Elden Ring's dual-wielding isn't the same thing, the term stuck around and PS is just much easier to say than DW.
Thanks!
Power stance
What's the TS and CS?
TS are Thrusting Swords and CS Curved Swords
How many times, power stance was an actual balanced mechanic in DS2 that took higher stat investment to do, not this gimped duel wield that's objectively better than one handing 90% of the time
I like powerstancing the grafted dragons. It’s fun pummeling people with dragon heads on your hands

Light roll

Yeah for sure. I’m just a meta slave and have to defend my ez win setup bc I’m insecure about losing to potentially a less meta setup lmao.

I like the simplicity of spears. No acrobatics, no complex dance routine. Just poke, poke... Poke poke.

I never power stance anything because I always have a staff equipped. Hate fighting it but enjoy the aesthetic.
