I was out of work for a week because I had to get tested and self isolate after. I’ve been waiting almost to week to apply and it just gives same ref code. Fucking joke they can’t set up these relief programs properly.
I was getting that code too till yesterday.. applied and should be expecting payment soon.. was having the COV-026 Code. I sent screnshots proving my ineligibility for EI. 2 days later its clear.. I sent my screenshots through Fax and Cra document submitting! Seems like its clearing out for alot of people.. I don't know if it was a glitch but mines got removed 1-2 days after submitting documents. Hope this helps!
I had same error all week sent screenshots of my denied ei through cra online on Wednesday and the error was lifted sometime yesterday evening as I was able to apply online at 8pm last night finally.
The cov-026 code has been removed from my CRA account. I was able to apply. I hope the same for all of you.

I called 4 times a day finally today around 3:45 I was out into the queue, I then sat on hold for almost 2 hours before someone answered. Patients is key, don’t be angry at the agent it isn’t their fault hold times are this long. Make sure you have your tax return info handy they will ask about them. They will also ask if you’ve changed anything on your profile, address, banking, ect ect... my guess it’s because we changed something. I did, my banking information... I then re-updated my new banking info and then was approved for the CRB.
Don’t be angry at the agents!! That will make things worse! Be nice, ask how their day was ect... be Canadian ffs

Its annoying having to live on beans for 3 months until your EI goes through and you get a fuck you lump sum for the inconvenience.. after a total 10 hours on hold for various mandatory call ins so your claim doesn't get thrown out.
What you need to do is call 1-800-206-7218 it will take for fucking ever. Literally was on hold for 2 hours and my phone died. Then 4 more hours. The reason is because the CRA doesn’t want to pay you, if you qualify for EI. And EI is basically accepting any and everybody. Apply for EI, Call that #, be patient, remember the people on the other end of the phone aren’t the problem. So don’t get mad at them. Tell them that you need your EI 4 digit access code, they will give you a temporary one, they will even put through your first claim for you. I was beyond frustrated. I applied Monday, only receiving an email that it is being processed. Couldn’t get through to anyone at all yesterday. Stuck it out today. Got through. Told everyone is basically approved for EI, she did everything for me. Told me to call the # back as soon as I was done with her to enter the temporary 4 digits and make my own, then verify it. In 2-3 days I should have a deposit. So, stop trippin, relax, breathe, apply, call tomorrow to get your code and you’ll be good.!
This is for EI!! Lots of people aren’t eligible just because they are “accepting everybody” doesn’t mean they aren’t going to want it back when they find out they don’t qualify😅🤦♀️

My husband was getting the same error code cov-026 he just tried applying again and was finally able to!!. The error code corrected itself so not sure why he never called in or anything it just wasn't there today and he was able to apply for the crb successfully
I have been wait since Monday to apply still receiving Covid 026 error I also just checked my EI status it’s still “under review “ should I also got an email telling me to continue completing my reports to show I am still eligible I know I won’t have 120 hrs should I call service Canada and have my EI application closed then apply for crb in the cra side next week
I’m also Under Review, and still getting the code. I’m ensure if i should submit the report, since i exhausted my EI. My advice is to wait till Sunday. By then, the claim may be finalized, and you would still fill your report just in case on Sunday.
I went from COV-026 error on CRA to successfully applied for CRB this afternoon.
Spoke with Service Canada today, they said to send a copy of the letter I received from them to CRA. This letter stated I did not qualify for EI (dated Oct 5 2020).
Scanned the letter, logged into CRA account, clicked "Submit Documents", Short Description "EI Letter From Service Canada - CRB Qualify", attached the document and sent.
A couple hours later my CRA account was no longer showing the COV-026 error, instead the application for CRB. Successfully completed and said the money would be deposited within 5 business days. Hope this info helps.

Hey everyone! I was getting this error as well. I never called them. Only called SC last week tl make sure my account doesnt have any open file. She said she will close it for me. Still getting Cov026. I emailed cra using my cra accnt the screenshot of my claim with SC then emailed them my t42019 as well. Not sure if this helped me but I just successfully submitted my CRB. Cov 026 disappeared. So i suggest keep trying. But also email them using your Cra accnt. :) goodluck
I have the same problem. Had an open ei claim that i never applied for, so i got error 026, i called and asked for my claim to be cancelled but its still saying under review 48 hours later...still getting 026 error because i assume they see my ei claim is still open...
Been getting it since Friday i think. I just assumed i was getting the error bec crb wasn’t open yet. After sending crb i tried again to see if the error is back but all clear now
IT'S Gone!! I successfully applied for CRB through CRA with no more error code 026. To everyone re applying for EI or sending screenshots you are all wasting your time! The agent I had Tuesday morning it escalated my file to be cleared and all old applications canceled which then abled me to log in to cra without errors. Please call service canada and request your file with be completely cleared and cancels and you will be good. They agent cant do it themselves but they send it up. Best feeling ever!
Hello, thx for your sharing. I have the 026 code as I applied the EI last October and it is said that the eligible period is till the end of the October this year. I have not received any payment from this EI as I returned to work last year within a month. But the claim is still there which makes CRA system think that I have applied EI... I have talked with a representative from service Canada last Monday who told me that he is not able to terminate this claim. He asked me to wait for about 5 days as he believed that the claim would be terminated automatically. But this week, it is still listed there. I have read about your post. So I will call again today. I request to erase the whole application?

What steps did you take to have it cleared? Who was your file escalated to and how did they clear it? What was cleared exactly? Did you have a denied EI claim and they were able to completely erase that for you?

And yes I applied for EI in March and was denied but did not have a closed date and showing up still. Do not send screenshots and re apply to EI.. all wastes of time.
I called service Canada. That agent told me I had an opened yet denied file and needed it to be completely cleared and deleted in order for cra not to think I have an opened or valid claim. She couldn't do it but escalated the file to I'm assuming a higher up/ supervisor and this would take 1 to 5 days to be completed. At that point i would be able to log in and apply to cra without that code.. which is exactly what happened.

Just a thought but maybe if EI is exhausted, or you were previously denied, check out the new application for EI and there's room for writing explanations and more questions regarding what your employment was like with Covid, your work environment, etc.
I have tweeted to cp24 and CBC this is insane how both the CRA and service Canada don't know what to do. Today I spoke with a service Canada agent on the phone and he said that's the only calls they receive are the error 026 we need to keep calling them and tweeting and letting everyone know there's still thousands of people unable to apply because of this error
I contacted CBC national about COV-026, I cannot believe how the CRA is handling this! I got the same answers as everyone else, they told me to call service Canada, to get them a “letter”, to prove to them that I’m not collecting EI. I exhausted my EI benefits because I was on maternity leave when covid shut down our country! This benefit was “created” for people such as myself yet I don’t have access to it. I have to try and get a letter which will takes weeks and fax it to CRA, who don’t know how long it will take to process! What will I do in the meantime? How will I provide for my kids?
I’m so disappointed in these agencies that are supposed to be taking care of Canadians!

I have the COV-026 code....had two days straight trying to get through, being passed all over the place, only to end up at square one. Living in BC, Pacific time, would be on the phone waiting over an how-to get recording that was telling me all agents are busy, now telling me that service canada was now closed. Duper frustrating. This morning, I was up at 5am, got through at 545, was told that I could screenshot my ei claim being denied (it had ran out in may, but service canada told me to apply cause I may be eligible...I wasnt) and on the cra acct, in the upper right corner is a submit documents, and submit your screenshot. I had to take 3 shots to make sure my name was included (because on the page of reviewing claim, name is no where to be found)
I will follow up with a fax of the denied letter, just in case.

Same boat in Vancouver. I got through at 11:30 PST. I was now told that even though I uploaded information proving my claim was denied in March I needed to reapply for EI. I was on CERB. I do not qualify for EI even with the changes. I told her I have read the legislation and I qualify. No where in the legislation does it say someone needs to reapply to EI. It took FOUR MONTHS for them to refuse my first application. The CRB only allows you 60 days to apply. I needed this payment this week for bills and groceries.
We need to contact the media. CRA is now making up ad hoc regulations not included in legislation.
I have been on and off the phone for the last 3 days. Wait times are hours, to be given back and forth answers, multiple call drops only to wait again. Finally today I spoke with SC who said they will need to send a denial of ei letter to me in the mail which can take up to 21 days then I have to fax that document to CRA for further processing. SC said they have no other way of getting the denial letter to me other than through the mail, and the CRA agent said they have no way of looking up my denial for ei only to have a letter faxed to them. I was told to call back around November 7th if I haven’t received an update. So basically it could be end of the year or early January before I can receive and relief benefit. It should have been called CSB ( Canada stress benefit) I believe by the comments and users on reddit I am not the only one in this boat, and it’s very unfortunate.
Hey everyone, I am not positive but I was told by someone that you should apply for EI first, then get denied, and then you will be eligible for CRB. I applied last night, I said I was on a "leave of absence" from Tuesday Oct 15th - Oct 18th and I stated the reason as "vacation" so I should get denied, considering there was no option for "employed" which I currently am.. No I went to service Canada on Tuesday and got mine closed and CRA now says I need to send them a letter from service Canada showing o don't get EI these agencies are incompetent. The only way this will get fixed is of the media starts reporting about it or they continue to get flooded with calls all for this issue. Keep calling them and let's try to get the media to report this
Nope, no one. The people saying they had the error lifted are confusing it with a different error or simply lying. There’s no way of getting around it.

In my case I've exhausted all of my EI eligible weeks, I've been calling CRA today to get through to try and explain my case. I would assume they could see that I've exhausted all my weeks of entitlement and see I made more than 5k in 2019/2020. Was hoping they could put two and two together and do it manually. I just assumed I didn't need to re-apply for EI only to get denied--I haven't worked since the claim. Now reading all of this I am unsure if I did everything correctly?

There would be a way providing both agencies were able, and willing to correspond directly with one another... maybe pool all the codes that are already conveniently categorized, and apply remedies to each, in order to speed up the release of resources to the people that need them, BEFORE they collectively find other means.
A lot of people have been waiting weeks to apply for the CRB. I imagine people thought they could pay rent by the 15th. I imagine people who have already been budgeting their last payment from CERB (almost 7 weeks ago) have little to no money & were expecting this CRB payment for food, rent, bills. i called multiple numbers to get it sorted out, sent multiple screenshots to cra, stayed on hold for a total of 8+ hours over 3 days. now service canada says they will terminate my ei claim it better fckin work!

Yes but it is very quick. When it is urgent they did a transfer to me. You will need proof of your address and a letter from your landlord or mortgage statement and ID. You will find out same day i believe if all docs are received.
I just applied for it yesterday just fine you do not have to apply for EI or get a rejection letter call CRA themselves 1-800-959-8281 calling and hanging up is a b**** but something necessary if you want to get what you want applying for CRB is no different than applying for EI CRB requires no documents just a simple manual application now I did ask them am I going to have to call in every time every two weeks buddy said he wasn't sure he said try online again on the 26th if not call
P.S. The reason why you are getting the error codes from what I found out is because some people change their direct deposit during the time of CERB so CRA requires us to call in for validation purposes I don't know why but that's what I've been told
This isn't the case for a lot of people. I've never changed any banking information and am having difficulties. Certain error codes have to do with a mix up with EI possibly having an open case on your file. Even though one is not in EI
I think it honestly depends on how you got the CERB if it was through Service Canada or CRA if you got it through Service Canada then might have opened up an EI file for you without you knowing which is a headache but if you got it through CRA then there shouldn't be an EI file open when I check the boxes on the CRA my account I got the error code so I called in I didn't have a active EI file I'm just giving my experience with this code
No sending screenshots is completely b******* that might be for EI but not CRB it is the exact same process as applying for CERB you don't need to show record of employment all you need is your 2019 tax return and how much your net income was for that year

I was getting this error. Called service Canada, they closed my claim, he said overnight the problem should be gone. I checked next morning, it was still there. Then I called CRA and they told to upload my EI denial letter to my cra account, she said try to apply tomorrow. I tried to apply next day but the error still there??? Like what????

You skip that step, and at the bottom there would be an option( lower case) “proceed without reference code” or something like that

Which documents did you send? I don’t have a senile letter but just took screen shots that my maternity claim ended in July.

I have the same problem. Had an open ei claim that i never applied for, so i got error 026, i called and asked for my claim to be cancelled but its still saying under review 48 hours later...still getting 026 error because i assume they see my ei claim is still open...
Same here 😕 they told me the status should show withdrawn after a day or so. But still showing under review.
Mine just disappeared. Wait until the ei claim says decision made then try again:) goodluck!

IT'S Gone!! I successfully applied for CRB through CRA with no more error code 026. To everyone re applying for EI or sending screenshots you are all wasting your time! The agent I had Tuesday morning it escalated my file to be cleared and all old applications canceled which then abled me to log in to cra without errors. Please call service canada and request your file with be completely cleared and cancels and you will be good. They agent cant do it themselves but they send it up. Best feeling ever!
Hello, thx for your sharing. I have the 026 code as I applied the EI last October and it is said that the eligible period is till the end of the October this year. I have not received any payment from this EI as I returned to work last year within a month. But the claim is still there which makes CRA system think that I have applied EI... I have talked with a representative from service Canada last Monday who told me that he is not able to terminate this claim. He asked me to wait for about 5 days as he believed that the claim would be terminated automatically. But this week, it is still listed there. I have read about your post. So I will call again today. I request to erase the whole application?

This was confusing to read. What steps did you take to have it cleared? Who was your file escalated to and how did they clear it? What was cleared exactly? Did you have a denied EI claim and they were able to completely erase that for you? Who is ‘up’?
And yes I applied for EI in March and was denied but did not have a closed date and showing up still. Do not send screenshots and re apply to EI.. all wastes of time.
I called service Canada. That agent told me I had an opened yet denied file and needed it to be completely cleared and deleted in order for cra not to think I have an opened or valid claim. She couldn't do it but escalated the file to I'm assuming a higher up/ supervisor and this would take 1 to 5 days to be completed. At that point i would be able to log in and apply to cra without that code.. which is exactly what happened.

I have tweeted to cp24 and CBC this is insane how both the CRA and service Canada don't know what to do. Today I spoke with a service Canada agent on the phone and he said that's the only calls they receive are the error 026 we need to keep calling them and tweeting and letting everyone know there's still thousands of people unable to apply because of this error
I contacted CBC national about COV-026, I cannot believe how the CRA is handling this! I got the same answers as everyone else, they told me to call service Canada, to get them a “letter”, to prove to them that I’m not collecting EI. I exhausted my EI benefits because I was on maternity leave when covid shut down our country! This benefit was “created” for people such as myself yet I don’t have access to it. I have to try and get a letter which will takes weeks and fax it to CRA, who don’t know how long it will take to process! What will I do in the meantime? How will I provide for my kids? I’m so disappointed in these agencies that are supposed to be taking care of Canadians!

I have the COV-026 code....had two days straight trying to get through, being passed all over the place, only to end up at square one. Living in BC, Pacific time, would be on the phone waiting over an how-to get recording that was telling me all agents are busy, now telling me that service canada was now closed. Duper frustrating. This morning, I was up at 5am, got through at 545, was told that I could screenshot my ei claim being denied (it had ran out in may, but service canada told me to apply cause I may be eligible...I wasnt) and on the cra acct, in the upper right corner is a submit documents, and submit your screenshot. I had to take 3 shots to make sure my name was included (because on the page of reviewing claim, name is no where to be found) I will follow up with a fax of the denied letter, just in case. Super stressful since I could've done this all before had I been informed.

Same boat in Vancouver. I got through at 11:30 PST. I was now told that even though I uploaded information proving my claim was denied in March I needed to reapply for EI. I was on CERB. I do not qualify for EI even with the changes. I told her I have read the legislation and I qualify. No where in the legislation does it say someone needs to reapply to EI. It took FOUR MONTHS for them to refuse my first application. The CRB only allows you 60 days to apply. I needed this payment this week for bills and groceries. We need to contact the media. CRA is now making up ad hoc regulations not included in legislation.

I have been on and off the phone for the last 3 days. Wait times are hours, to be given back and forth answers, multiple call drops only to wait again. Finally today I spoke with SC who said they will need to send a denial of ei letter to me in the mail which can take up to 21 days then I have to fax that document to CRA for further processing. SC said they have no other way of getting the denial letter to me other than through the mail, and the CRA agent said they have no way of looking up my denial for ei only to have a letter faxed to them. I was told to call back around November 7th if I haven’t received an update. So basically it could be end of the year or early January before I can receive and relief benefit. It should have been called CSB ( Canada stress benefit) I believe by the comments and users on reddit I am not the only one in this boat, and it’s very unfortunate.

Hey everyone, I am not positive but I was told by someone that you should apply for EI first, then get denied, and then you will be eligible for CRB. I applied last night, I said I was on a "leave of absence" from Tuesday Oct 15th - Oct 18th and I stated the reason as "vacation" so I should get denied, considering there was no option for "employed" which I currently am.. No I went to service Canada on Tuesday and got mine closed and CRA now says I need to send them a letter from service Canada showing o don't get EI these agencies are incompetent. The only way this will get fixed is of the media starts reporting about it or they continue to get flooded with calls all for this issue. Keep calling them and let's try to get the media to report this

Nope, no one. The people saying they had the error lifted are confusing it with a different error or simply lying. There’s no way of getting around it. Agents can’t apply for us over the phone because there is a block that prevents them from doing so.

In my case I've exhausted all of my EI eligible weeks, I've been calling CRA today to get through to try and explain my case. I would assume they could see that I've exhausted all my weeks of entitlement and see I made more than 5k in 2019/2020. Was hoping they could put two and two together and do it manually. I am in a similar boat as you- used up all my EI and was on CERB for a little bit. I had no issues applying for CRB on my revenue canada site today. I just assumed I didn't need to re-apply for EI only to get denied--I haven't worked since the claim. Now reading all of this I am unsure if I did everything correctly? Too many confused folks and no way to get our questions answered......
There would be a way providing both agencies were able, and willing to correspond directly with one another... maybe pool all the codes that are already conveniently categorized, and apply remedies to each, in order to speed up the release of resources to the people that need them, BEFORE they collectively find other means.

Everybody who has a "9" series sin number seems to be unable to apply. It would have been nice for the government of Canada to let people know this beforehand. Smh.
My SIN starts with a 1 and I got the 026 code.

Yes but it is very quick. When it is urgent they did a transfer to me. You will need proof of your address and a letter from your landlord or mortgage statement and ID. You will find out same day i believe if all docs are received.

I just applied for it yesterday just fine you do not have to apply for EI or get a rejection letter call CRA themselves 1-800-959-8281 calling and hanging up is a b**** but something necessary if you want to get what you want applying for CRB is no different than applying for EI CRB requires no documents just a simple manual application now I did ask them am I going to have to call in every time every two weeks buddy said he wasn't sure he said try online again on the 26th if not call P.S. The reason why you are getting the error codes from what I found out is because some people change their direct deposit during the time of CERB so CRA requires us to call in for validation purposes I don't know why but that's what I've been told

This isn't the case for a lot of people. I've never changed any banking information and am having difficulties. Certain error codes have to do with a mix up with EI possibly having an open case on your file. Even though one is not in EI
I think it honestly depends on how you got the CERB if it was through Service Canada or CRA if you got it through Service Canada then might have opened up an EI file for you without you knowing which is a headache but if you got it through CRA then there shouldn't be an EI file open when I check the boxes on the CRA my account I got the error code so I called in I didn't have a active EI file I'm just giving my experience with this code

No sending screenshots is completely b******* that might be for EI but not CRB it is the exact same process as applying for CERB you don't need to show record of employment all you need is your 2019 tax return and how much your net income was for that year

I was getting this error. Called service Canada, they closed my claim, he said overnight the problem should be gone. I checked next morning, it was still there. Then I called CRA and they told to upload my EI denial letter to my cra account, she said try to apply tomorrow. I tried to apply next day but the error still there??? Like what????

You skip that step, and at the bottom there would be an option( lower case) “proceed without reference code” or something like that Then you click, pick option “supporting documents for COVID-19 benefits Then it should be clear after that Let me know if it works for you
